Tonics are necessary to achieve the basic basic functionality of last seasons;
I read the notes but don’t remember seeing ability recharge rate being nerfed yet my grenade now takes an eternity.
Is this another nerf to increase the relevance of tonics?
I’m getting no new world weapon drops!
Because I need a 20 minute tonic just to get world drops??
A couple of my Artefact mods seem to be VERY weak. So I need tonics to achieve decent mod strength now?
This feels bad.

2 RepliesEdited by SkinPoppeR: 10/10/2024 4:49:02 AMAlso just keep making tonics. Idk what is going on at Bungie but they are really bad with directions this season. Just make green tonics until you unlock blue. Then make blue tonics until you unlock purple. Then you start getting Exotics. You will get really short bounties to travel to a planet and find ingredient markers. Again you won’t get any good directions from the hud and these bounties won’t show up in your bounties tab or even the Tonic page from your inventory. 🤣 They will show as those circle search area markers from the Final Shape lost ghost missions on your world map. Then just use the tonics as you play Onslaught.

I'm tired of all this gimmick bullshit, just wanna play and things be simple. Lot of this stuff just isn't necessary. It's all about keeping ppl on the game longer that's all they care about.
-
And they already removed Expert Eventide Ruins from Onslaught. They'll patch anything that benefits the player within hours. But bugs in the game, months, sometimes never.

1 ReplyEdited by Guardian1309: 10/10/2024 2:57:36 PMThis whole tonic, do this do that repeat forever to get something that is so short lived and the only decent source of materials is onslaught, which I actually like but still!!! For me this is the WORST season in the history of Destiny. For me the good news is last season was so bad II simply gave up so I'm just not caring about not playing anymore! SOOOOOO, is it just me or does it feel like Bungo is intentionally trying to get everyone to quit so they can go fail on Marathon instead???

1 ReplyEdited by Silver Osprey: 10/10/2024 10:58:33 AMThis is just ONE MORE BLUNDER from our good ole friends at blundering Bungie HQ. You put stuff in the game that are USELESS. GO BACK to Destiny 1 mindset and go from there and stop trying to make the game more complex and boring. I'm already bored and frustrated with this new crap. PLUS, I am getting booted back to orbit about every 30 minutes. (And no it is NOT MY internet. I've got top of the line equipment and internet service) My team and I just quit last night because we could not even finish ONE SINGLE mission/quest. God, Borderlands 4 hurry up and get here.

It’s pretty bonkers how many consistently bad decisions are being made this year. It makes me think the staff that was let go were the ones trying to make Destiny a better game, but the higher ups didn’t like that. Bad game design kills the cash cow. Bungie execs need to realize this.

Tonics were added solely to increase grind, to manipulate players for more metrics Similar to the battle pass which doubled in size Similar to the redonk grind to unlock spec perks Just some out of touch guy adding a grind to every single tiny dopamine reward imaginable and then breaking them into even more steps I basically just ignore these systems, kinda like how a ton of players just ignored pathfinder and they were forced to change it to increase participation The current bungie team only cares about metrics, they on stop adding grind when the metrics drop The goal of increased metrics is increased cash shop revenue

I read the notes but don’t remember seeing ability recharge rate being nerfed yet my grenade now takes an eternity.
I thought this was just an 'Onslaught: Salvation' thing, because I really noticed it there, but I think you may be right
Is this another nerf to increase the relevance of tonics?
I was going to say 'probably not', but...
I’m getting no new world weapon drops! Because I need a 20 minute tonic just to get world drops??
They DO drop without them but it definitely feels like the rate has been nerfed considerably
A couple of my Artefact mods seem to be VERY weak. So I need tonics to achieve decent mod strength now?
Getting back to nerfing stuff to increase the relevance of tonics, the artefact mods definitely make it feel like this.
This feels bad.
Rather than feeling like a boost, tonics feel more like a medicine for when your guardian is constantly sick and it just helps them get through the day without collapsing. I can't say I'm surprised though - everything I've seen about Bungie's 'way forward' just looks like a giant step backward. A 'power fantasy' game without the 'power fantasy' Genius work, Bungo..

Edited by Nimune: 10/10/2024 9:13:31 PMIt's a prime example of a sticker mechanic instead of actual content. Makes one hate pve even more. Focus fixing the actual issues in game, like solos matching teams, rather than creating crap like tonics or countless hours of npc chatter that can't be skipped. No one cares about the remaining cast, you already killed the only character that ever had any soul.

Pretty sure most people don't like the tonic system. If I'm being honest it really feels like something a 12 year old would come up with. Then again, I'm pretty sure most of the Bungie employees still working on this game are about 10% as passionate and inventive as the original crew that created D1.

1 ReplyI‘m not a fan either. For loot purposes it‘s ok i guess because that’s our way of focusing on specific loot, but 'enhancing' artifact perks is not it. Furthermore running around and collecting ingredients for potions is just like baking cookies for eva levante…and that has not been fun for ages.
-
I like the RPG feel, but it's not explained well enough. Doing the tasks, and don't want to ever do this again.
-
I like the new system but you have some valid points. May e potions give a double drop on items you're grinding for?
-
This was the dumbest thing they could’ve done… D2 already feels too complicated. Stop adding more systems and just focus on cooler content of the systems already there.

Edited by HODGYL33DS: 10/10/2024 3:08:10 PMYup, it's shite tbh.... I dont know why I expected more from this "season" after the last one and giving it the benefit of the doubt releasing with an annual pass but this is dire! I didn't buy the rip off entire annual pass and dungeon key/act package on release and only bought it Tuesday as it was £25 on sale but I still feel like I wasted that money tbh

10 RepliesI am not a fan of the temporary aspect of these tonics. Not to mention they are needed to make any of the artifact mods feel powerful. Also, when they wear off in the middle of an activity and you have to stop doing what you're doing just to pop another one from the inventory screen. That takes you time since you have to load your character screen, go to inv, then into that potion tab just to then find the one you want, consume it and hope you didn't get killed by that new stupid strike modifier that hurts you if you stand still for more than 3 seconds.

2 RepliesThe last city feels to me like a long event of recipes. It’s going to be a long dry season for me.

“People hate crafting and love the grind so we’re removing crafting!” *replaces red border grind with grinding for crafting plus grinding for rng.

3 RepliesTonic unlock strategy is not intuitive. You buy green to unlock blue buy blue to unlock purple buy purple to unlock further purple. You must use submenus to buy to unlock. Then go through taste and drop sequencing afterwards. No help guide shows this or Bungie menu. To gather ingredients you kill scorn through whichever game mode you want. That said there are special ingredients you must unlock through Eido’s submenu with quests. The quests are only unlocked by tonic unlocks. Tonics themselves are time limited for drops or perks. Drop based work like onslaught focusing, perk based act like armor mods. TLDR playtime gated unlocked through hidden mechanic. Providing me mods that must be reapplied.

1 ReplyTonics are terrible. Once again something implemented poorly, gather this stuff, oh yeah we are not going to tell you hwo to earn said stuff, go figure that out on your own Craft stuff - mostly useless and too short a duration, forcing players to play a certain way to make use of tonic test stuff waste of time, repeat animation is already getting old! imbue stuff, again animation and then it through stuff on the ground? What the heck is that all about. It has ZERO place in a looter shooter. This is NOT World of warcraft, where potions are very useful. This is a timesink and waste of developer time. Like weapon crafting it will take Bungie 2 years of changes to get it anywhere useful; then they will take it away! A HUGE WASTE OF DEV TIME!!!! Bungie, once agian showing how little they understand the player base, needs, wants or anything at all.

I am annoyed because all of my progress is halted because the right materials won’t drop. Can’t access the big field work because I need 1 more major. Can’t access the major because I need 1 more minor. Can’t access the minor because I am stuck at 28/30. I am really not happy at all.
-
If I wanted to play dungeons and dragons I would. But I want to play a FPS. Things like this and much of what Destiny has become sucks.
-
Yep, dull, repetitive, drivel. But here I am trudging my way through this nonsense again. Need to go outside and look at the real stars for a bit I think. Final shape/witness story is becoming a distant memory of the last good content.

outside one of the mods loving this lie simulator post

Edited by Sol Chaos: 10/11/2024 4:54:56 AMThe entire concept of adding potions to Destiny was stupid and desperate to begin with. They are haemorrhaging players and are throwing everything and anything at the wall and hoping it sticks, hence why we have a vampire themed episode in Destiny of all things. So many things they could possibly do and they choose vampires..... pathetic. And the whole concept is made 10 times worse by the slow and redundant process that is required to craft said potions

13 RepliesYeah this is terrible. I ain’t doing this. COD bo6 in two weeks 👏🏻
