The chinese have landed on the moon, and are now pushing for more exploration, so one would say a new space race is beginning. That is unless the US only cares about the oil, and the Middle East.
Still do you think this will start another Space Race at all?

I don't know about a new space race, at least on in which major space agencies would be involved. The U.S. and former Soviet Union each landed there around half a century ago, but I think China's success will serve to encourage other countries in their space programs.

3 RepliesChina just got their first air craft carrier like 2 years ago. I call bullshit.
-
3 RepliesCould've sworn Iraq was the only country America invaded for oil... and that was over a decade ago. Why would there even be another space race? America landed on the moon over half a century ago. There isn't going to be anymore "space races". China has a lot of catching up to do.

That is unless the USA only cares about the oil and Middle East
Cleverly disguised political thread?

China lands on moon List of things to do 1: pick up pretty moon rocks on moon 2: moon walk upside down on moon 3: donuts with rover on moon 4: smack american equipment with rover On moon (Worth it) 5:plant flag and come home to brag about it with your friends.

3 RepliesChina: Hooray pree! Re landed guys on the moon! US: Yeah, we did that over 40 years ago. Meanwhile on mars, we're doing pretty well.
-
Maybe the Murican government will finally get off it's ass and give NASA the funding it needs, if only to one up everyone else.
-
I'M SORRY, I CAN'T HEAR YOU ALL THE WAY FROM MARS
-
1 ReplySpace exploration should be the next great chapter in the history of man. This should be welcomed.

Edited by Sierra-Noble: 12/14/2013 11:33:37 PMI wish it would but it probably won't, tensions aren't high between the US and China like it was with Russia after the cold war. Edit: One smarr reap for chinaman, one giant reap for Chinakind.

13 RepliesI remain skeptical. China pushes out bullshit like this all the time. I still remember when they used footage from top gun to prove that they had some sort of super fighter jet.
-
Meanwhile...

1 ReplyCongrats China for being the first country to land on the moon.
-
Excellent job, China. maybe this will help scientific relations between East and West. and maybe it won't be hijacked by politicians looking for leverage...
-
5 RepliesHow is this the first I'm hearing of it?
-
3 RepliesSorry, I can't see you fags from all the way over here on Mars.
-
1 ReplyWell done to them, will we see if the moon landing was fake? *tinfoil hat*
-
1 ReplyPlease let another space race begin. I want another explosion of space technology and great achievements.
-
3 RepliesChina's a little tardy to the party. America's already been there and done that.
-
ITT: defensive Americans.
-
BTW, that space craft's name makes me think of something else...
-
3 RepliesAmazing how that rover looks EXTREMELY familiar. Keep copying tech China. Mars is still another 67 million miles away.

I hope it does in some shape or form. Space exploration is something I believe should be pushed and funded more. I think we could all benefit greatly from a Global Space Agency, but I suppose that's too much to hope for.

The only US news site I saw talking about it was Fox News, surprisingly. I think it's great that they are doing research we aren't doing, space is a neat place and we need all the data we can get!
