Yesterday it was around 25k, down from a 316k peak under 2 years ago. I somehow doubt the Xbox/PS player count is much higher. Bungie, please bring back crafting/Engram focusing, fix the terrible tonic system, un-nerf everything you unnecessarily nerfed this season (like alh/recon) and fix all the bugs you created this season.
Looks like everything you've tried this season is backfiring and your players are dropping like flies. Looks like you should've made a decent seasonal activity and not re-packaged onslaught. If you weren't so tone deaf you'd know that we're all bored to death with onslaught, only these seasonal weapons aren't nearly half as good as into the light's. Hoping we'll keep replaying the same old s#!t because we can't craft instead of giving us something fun to play like the coil is not a good strategy. If this is a preview of the "replayable" frontiers then I will not be buying frontiers.
You need to do something drastic to save this game. TFS was amazing but then you went back to the same old Bungie - unnecessarily nerfing everything and releasing sub-par activities with a terribly executed story. And you think you'll save this game by removing crafting/Engram focusing, more nerfs, and rehashing onslaught because everyone loved into the light!? Clearly you laid off the people making the intelligent decisions.
Edit: when I originally posted this the steam count was at 17k, though at the time I didn't realize that was partially because of network problems which I later encountered myself. At this time it's around 36k, which still proves my point that it's down even more than it was last season. We're in week 2 of a new episode, usually it would be much higher at this point in a new season. So clearly everything Bungie's doing is alienating players, not just myself. Removing crafting/focusing and increasing the pinnacle grind instead of adding decent/NEW content is 100% destiny moving backwards. Anyone who disagrees with that is obviously lying to themselves.

1 ReplyYou want to make a good post an shut the fanboys up just put the actually number of players that bungie have lost in total after 2months of the latest dlc was released here's a hint it was over 1mill lol and slowly declining still 😆 🤣 Most new lights are adding to numbers atm but they won't be here long they carnt even get past rank 3 because as usual the game is bugged

D2 hasn't cracked 100k steam players since July 15th which is not a good sign. We've had a new season an dungeon since then and Steam only hit 90k. I'd love console numbers to see how things are going there but IDK if those are accessible.

Delete this post, you're embarrassing yourself. Especially the edits. Yikes...

8 RepliesEdited by itsCriTical: 10/17/2024 11:48:48 PMyep Destiny is dying. This season is really great (now 20 bucks) 500 silver more than the last. 0 seasonal weapon crafting 0 season Content (content is play a 5 year old raid for 5 year old weapons - crafting) (new extra 20 bucks dungeon is pure trash with pure trash weapons) Destiny is Done!, they will not get a 50k peak next year with the next "BIG" DLC. every1 who think that the next dlc is great (after the 10 year plan is over) is just lost. were see it now every season game is getting worse n worse.. Bungie focus only the quick cash by destiny mobile... (Now should the last ppls really wake up) FINAL SCAM

52k peak. D2's core markets are Europe and NA. On weekdays, there's a time window of about 12h between late afternoon in Europe and around 12 am PST when the core audience is active. It still means that there's hundreds of thousands of people actively playing.

4 RepliesIt wasn't due to network problems it was time of day. It fluctuates thru the day, when I got up this morning it was 19k, always is. People saying it was low because maintenance are morons. How you getting 17k people on destiny when the games offline, people can't think.

Destiny haters when players go to sleep or do something else for one day 😡 48k online on steam rn

No surprises really ! Lots of us knew this was coming ….it will eventually go out like destiny one which is fine . A glorious ten years I got and it won’t be over . I’m sure in the near future D3 will arise !

Nerfs are meant to balance and try to prevent weapon/armor exploits to trivialize content or gatekeep. Nerfing is not a bad thing at the heart of it.

2 RepliesYou won't get any reality on this forum. I'm convinced that everyone under 30 just lies nonstop about everything. It's my generation's fault. Our parents were boomers and were extremely strict with us, but let us be independent. We overcorrected because we wanted our children to be comfortable growing up in our homes, so we tried to reason with them instead of just laying down rules and punishment. What you see in the world is the result of this. Children that look like adults but have no integrity, no discipline, and no respect. They believe they know more than their parents and grandparents. I've written them off. I assume anyone under 30 is lying to me at all times. They all need to be spanked.

16 RepliesEdited by The Hermit IX: 10/17/2024 3:24:51 AMI guess you haven’t been paying attention. The numbers posts stopped because I and a few other players disproved the entire thing. Several trolls were spamming the forums with inaccurate numbers and they wound up utterly embarrassed in the process. 300-400k players are logging in daily at its slowest points and 500-700k during busier times. Steam numbers are concurrent and you’re not even posting correct numbers to begin with. BTW PC is the smallest part of the active player base and is dwarfed by console player numbers. It’s a 7 year old game that’s close to 5 months post the DLC drop. Any studio would kill to have the active numbers D2 posts, even when it’s struggling.

2 RepliesGotta love when hatewatchers decide to share their delusions with the class :D

7 RepliesToo bad the forum logins don't count towards that number, maybe then you and those like you would find something better to do with your time.
-
3 RepliesFrom the data we've been given the player base tends to be fairly closely split in 1/3 between each platform ps has a few more than Xbox iirc but basically you will triple what you see on PC and you're usually within reason of total current player count.
-
5 RepliesI must be in noob city because honestly, it's packed everywhere on my servers

6 Repliesthis guy is using the destiny 2 maintenace numbers lmfao
-
1 ReplyReally wanna know when you took your 17k. Just clicked on the link. 41572 concurrent players rn. That’s not terrible for a random Thursday before the workday is over in the US (12:54 PST, 3:54 EST) and I believe this number is just Steam which is on average ~35% of the community day to day log-ins

47 RepliesI swear this is the same guy that was complaining about crafting being removed a few weeks ago? With all due respect and take no offence to this I’m just using statistics here for POV, what do you actually play in this game? After having a quick 2 minute look you don’t: -do GMs -8 raid clears. -handful of dungeons. -Less than 100 hours total in PvP - 2 flawless’s Joined March 2015. So you play ZERO endgame content and yet think the game should be catered to your liking? You.do.not.play.the.game. Theres multiple reasons the numbers are terrible and I’ll tell you why: 1. End of the Saga. Many people were seeing the saga out and leaving the game for good, which they did in TFS hense why the numbers plummeted and haven’t returned. 2.Stupid Decisions being made because a minority complain about it e.g(SBMM, Flawless Pool) was never a problem years ago and the game was always fine for player numbers. People just got better, now we are in the participation era. Not to mention the vastly decline whenever they were implemented ( W72 to W73 trials player numbers) 3. People are fed up of the game being a checklist. It’s the same thing every season : - Do the story - Seal Gliding - Seasonal Snoozefest activity for red boarders When everything is done get on a different game. That doesn’t keep players playing, you NEED grind and good loot. This game was at is peak during the forsaken year and guess what this game had… GRIND. Comp weapons being strong af and rewarded you for your effort. 4. The minority whiners (95% of this forum) don’t actually play the game they just whine about it, but the funny thing is that there’s such a small percentage of people on here that contribute to the overall playerbase making problems that aren’t problems then use the playing the numbers decline as an excuse that they are right. The real reasons for decline I’ve just listened as 1,2,3 and some people just done completely after waiting for bungie to do something about it after years. People are fed up. TLDR: If crafting is to stay the guns MUST be average so there is still a reason to grind the game. The end.

41k rn btw
-
Of 37 friends who used to play regularly, one MIGHT be on at any given time anymore
-
It's only going to get worse .can't find people to match in lfg...make a post and I sit there for minutes then close it .sad

Beginnings of previous seasons usually held around 60-65k, so the numbers are def down but everyone knows that. The episodes aren’t very good and a good number of people stopped playing because the story concluded. I don’t think Destiny will ever die bc there is a good amount of people addicted to it. They don’t enjoy the game but log in every day.

I'm on console and I solo queued last week on reset day and matched against a clanmate that lives on the other side of the US, first time that's happened in 7 years. Yeah our player numbers are low too.
-
Cool, can you notify me when it gets to only 17 people total.
-
6 RepliesSurely there has to be a more engaging hobby than staring at a games steam charts Especially when you can't even get the numbers right

bungie and sony don't care because they already got what they wanted: streamer and youtube publicity AND our money that's why we're working toward month #4 on the name change problems and all the changes that have been made for this season
