When stasis first came out it was quite apparent that it was an issue. Even after dozens of tweaks it's still so incredible powerful because of it's inherent function, freeze, and slow. Freeze especially is basically an instant win button if you are even remotely good at the game, because it halts healing, and freezes the target in place for almost 3 seconds I believe. Especially on warlock which is so incredibly busted in competitive pvp you basically can't run anything else if you're a warlock without throwing the game. With conditional finality it made it that much worse, not even counting how good it's stats are it's base ability basically nets you a free win in a fight. There's no way to balance it because it's inherent ability is too strong, if you nerf it to where it's not as strong then it's not going to be fun to play anymore, there's frankly no correct way to make a freeze ability in a fps like destiny.
I know people are going to troll in the comments about how I'm just raging cause I'm bad, but honestly, look at it's function, you are on something if you genuinely believe freeze as an ability in pvp is balanced.
Edit: Part 1: most of my criticism is focused on FREEZE, not stasis, the mention of stasis was to transition to the topic of freeze, even the title mentions freeze and not stasis. The goal of mentioning stasis being powerful even after all the tweaks was to point out that because of freeze existing in pvp it always be powerful. The people talking about stasis as a whoel are completely missing the point I'm making, that being, that FREEZE is overpowered in pvp and by relation stasis always will be as well. Even if you point out that stasis warlock is slow, it doesn't matter because anyone with half decent movement can go just as fast as normal, hunter stasis can kill both wells and bubbles, as does warlock stasis. Even the points you make, which weren't even against my argument, are just straight up wrong. You don't "sacrifice lethality" at all, if you're evn remotely good you can capitalize on all points of the subclass to completely dominate anyone else head on, because of freeze. The point of the melee abilities are not even correct because 99% of even remotely intelligent players use warlock melee close range for an easy kill, hunter melee isn't used for damage and is instead used for slow or to stop regen, and titan melee is the best easily accessible maneuvering tool in the game. Any "sacrifice in lethality" is made up by either skill or better lethality.
Edit Part 2: How did I know you were going to call em bad instead of looking at the argument made and thinking about how freeze actually works in a fast paced pvp game with ttk's in the 1 second range (of which base freeze is 1.25 seconds by your own admission)
so to cap it all off, I disagree with literally every argument presented against this and still stand by the statement that freeze is an instant win button if you're even remotely good.
Also please do be civil with this and present actual arguments and not just say and I quote "Lmao keep crying"
Edit part 3: So I'm seeing more people agree with me here than disagree so, and really the only anti argument is that you "sacrifice" something, but you don't really, you can easily make up with it with skill. Also dear god how heavily was I downvoted/disliked/what do we call it on here? Lmao.

1 ReplyI've always felt Solar should be a natural counter to stasis, at least in PvP play. Void to Strand. Arc to ??? But when it came out as the first darkness class, ya totally busted the status quo.
