Destabalizing rounds and Repulsor Brace interaction

So the way repulsor brace works on volatile targets is it can technically give you an overshield for defeating a target that is volatile but only if they don't die to the debuff itself which makes the proc very inconsistent like to the point where its aggravating. So at first glance you would think destabilizing rounds and repulsor brace on the same weapons result in almost permanent overshield uptime but in practice it just ends up not working half the time. So I'm thinking they should change it so that if the volatile explosion is caused by a weapon with repulsor brace then it activates the perc. Thoughts?

  • I think it's on a 3 second cooldown so it seems kinda not the best on something that fires a lot of rounds. Maybe it works better on a waveframe grenade launcher.

Unravel is good because it naturally propagates itself, Volatile can't do the same because it would encroach upon Sentinel's Controlled Demolition Aspect. Volatile Rounds conceal the Volatile keyword on its own not actually being very good. A potential solution to the problem with how it interacts with Repulsor Brace would be for Volatile to leave a lingering debuff after exploding that doesn't actually do anything, but still counts for RB's purposes.

  • From my exp., these are pretty useless outside of Gyrfalcon, ONLY because Gyrfalcon can consistently get the perks going more often than not. Voidwalker is kinda irrelevant to me, as it doesn’t have any standout builds for endgame, and shatter bomb pre-detonating from one enemy shot in GMs is enough to send my controller through the TV. And my favorite Sentinel build got smoked with the HOIL nerf, so Void overall in pve is on the shelf for me besides Hunter, and I only pull that Hunter build out if I have to. Nightstalker is by far the most boring PVE subclass to play for obvious reasons so, yeah.

    • Only run DR if you don't want to use Volatile Rounds. DR is great for some things but not always a go to imo. Honestly... DR is best if your running another class and need an extra perk or something.

    • Destabilizing Rounds is inherently bad because it competes directly with the fragment that gives you volatile on grenade kills which is arguably much better than destabilizing. If you buff destabilizing the fragment pretty much becomes obsolete. It needs to be reworked, unfortunately.

    • Good on Age Old Bond. Idk if Harsh Language can roll with repulsor, but ik it rolls with destabilizing.

    • The enemy explodes and passes on Volatile, they themselves aren't under the effects (you're thinking Volatile Rounds). That's probably why it seems inconsistent. I experimented with that loop on my Titan and he was pretty much overshielded all the time.

    • I think destabilizing rounds as a perk just needs a rework. It’s so much worse than the other elemental perks. I’m not sure what would be “balanced” as far as a change goes, but in its current state it’s not good. And you’re right, this combo does not make it viable.

      • Destabilizing on WoC causes all kinds of explosions. I enjoyed testing it in Gambit. Getting an OS for them would be cartoonish.

      • I think I’ve got a repulsor brace/destabilizing age old bond on my warlock. Let me check it out.
