You quickly dive towards a hole, which thankfully even seems to be in the direction of the heart. The hole is too thin to run, and you wind up having to try to sidestep through. One spike comes up under your foot just as you’re about out, and while it doesn’t pierce your foot, it does throw off yoir balancr, and you stumble backwards onto your rear.
Suddenly a circle of spikes appear all around you, all aiming low and ready to lunge!

-
Geo gets to her feet as fast as possible and jumps over them.
How many more turns of this are there?
-
You’re almost done, just keep on going. :p
You leap over the spikes, but then there’s a problem. Another spear shoots up from the center of the ring, aiming straight up towards you!
-
Geo double jumps to the side.
-
You leap out of the way, though the spear manages a small scratch on your leg. When you land, though, you’re relatively close to the heart, and it looks like you have aclear path.
-
Geo goes for it.
-
How are you intending to strike it?
-
Knife.
Your blade cuts across the surface of the heart, and it goes flying off the roots, crashing into the far wall as the water goes from red to blue. Floating on the far side of the room, a small spike of darkness appeared above the heart. And then one next to that rotated slightly. And another, and another. Once it was at 4 they were reaching around 25% of the way around, and you get the feeling it would be pretty bad if they reached all the way around. You had to finish it off quickly! Like with a SPECIAL ATTACK!
-
No.
-
Yep; it’s the only way to beat it! It won’t break under a normal attack!
-
Well, guess I’ll be stuck in this room forever.
-
Don’t be stubborn, this is the second to last fight. Just slice at it with your knife while looking cool or something.
-
Dont want it to be cool.
Edited by The First Aifos: 5/27/2021 1:10:23 AM
Yeah, but when you join someone else’s RPs, you’re bound to the rules of that RP. In this RP, you can opt out of finishers for small baddies—like the vine guys at the beginning, and any humans you might fight in the future—but giant monsters can’t be defeated with normal attacks. (and this is a giant monster; you’re still fighting the snake). If it’s not for cool factor, you need something to hit harder than normal, because normal attacks can’t hit hard enough to break the heart.
-
Well if I hit it super hard or anything, it’ll probably break my knife.
-
Well, use something besides your knife. Combine your arc grenades with Filia’s soul blast for a big explosion, or do something fancy with your grappling hook to put some momentum behind a punch or stab. And bear in mind Fukua helps out for finishers, too, so you don’t need to hit One Punch Man hard, just harder than usual.
-
So wait, if i can use grenades, it’s no longer doing the anti ranged thing?
-
Oh, yeah, sorry, guess I should’ve pointed that out. That was only for the blade/spear phases.
-
Geo just shoots the orb with a full magazine, avoiding anything fancy.
-
I guess that’ll work for this one. Do be aware, though, that for the next fight you’ll have to come up with something more creative. A unique ammo type, or something. You’ll need something that hits harder than regukar attacks. Regular bullets still hit as hard as regular bullets even if you fire several.
Fukua’s spectre hops in the way of the bullets, catching them all in an energy sphere. They swirl around inside, melting into a singular large piercing shot, surrounded by soul-energy. The heart finishes creating a ring of 16 large magic bolts, which slowly fold into a single larger bolt. The two magic spikes crash into eachother at the same time, eventually pushing the heart’s own dark magic back into itself, and shattering it into pieces. The vines covering the exit retract, and Fukua picks up a piece of the heart. “I could probably purify this thing. Its magic probably wouldn’t last long—maybe only a fight or two, but you could try using its magic as a temporary replacement for your rifle.”
-
“Never touched magic, never will. Well, once, but it wasn’t worth it.”’
-
“It’s not like you’d be selling your soul or anything. You’d just be using the residue left on this rock. Think of it like another gun, only shaped like a rock. As I said, it’s not like it’d last long. It’ll probably be out of juice by the time we leave the tower.”
-
“That’s not making the case better.”
-
“I swear half the time it sounds like you’re trying to get yourself killed. Look, I’m just trying to give you another weapon so you have something to use besides that dinky little knife. Do you want it or not?”
-
“No. I have my rifle. I’ll be fine.”
