Removing dragonfly from cold front due to "technical" issues is BS since Ace of spade has firefly
Bungie announced they will be replacing dragonfly with swashbuckler because apparently dragonfly on kinetic weapons causes technical issues, and yet Ace of spades has firefly. Malfeasance even seems to have a hidden dragonfly perk when you get precision kills. Yes these are exotics but it also contradicts their statement. I've been running dragonfly coldfront on my warlock for the last several weeks and haven't noticed any major issues beside the perk not procing on rare occasions.
I mean what happened to "sunsetting means that they can give use more unique and op gun like Recluse"

Not a watered down nerfed or nothing version that is dragonfly! If fatebringer comes back with dragonfly you can bet the pve community will bring an even bigger storm that the pvp community is in right now! I'm with you on what Bungie said about bringing more guns that feel and unique like recluse. I hope they come sooner rather than later.

25 RepliesIt's because dragonfly causes an ELEMENTAL explosion, based on the weapons damage type. Kinetic isn't an element. It never was meant to have that perk to begin with. Sorry they're FIXING a bugged weapon, but maybe people should stop relying on bugs and exploits so much and just play the game fairly.

1 ReplyIsn’t it because it’s an elemental perk on a kinetic gun? Having the elemental explosion tied to subclass instead of the element to the gun could have unforeseen issues. I feel like everybody forgets that video games are a massive mess of crossed wires that work together to make the game work as we see it. An elemental tied explosion to a kinetic gun may not have had immediate consequences now, but easily could’ve done something later, and I’m sure bungie knew what that issue would have been, hence why they’re removing it

Dragonfly and firefly are not the same perk. Dragonfly creates an elemental explosion based on the element of the weapon it’s on, so you can see the issue. Firefly just creates a general “kinetic explosion”. They stated what the issue was with it recently in a TWAB or something a dev said but I can’t remember what they said.

No win situation. Created by the relative lack of loot and the uninsipiring additions to the perk table. Bungie can't leave something like this in the game, because they don't know if its working right. But this is one of the first compelling perk additions to the game after two years of Bungie "playing it safe" (because of a lack of sunsetting)....so I can understand why players are getting frustrated with Bungie over this. Bungie promised people powerful weapons (more Recluses) in exchange for Sunsetting....and they haven't delivered (yet).

I had dozens of kinetic [u]and[/u] energy weapons in D1 with Firefly. No bugs there. Firefly and dragonfly are not the same. What difference is there between a D1 energy weapon with firefly and a D2 energy weapon with dragonfly other than the elemental damage? Remove dragonfly, make it firefly and be done.

2 RepliesIt was an accident and is meant for the returning Fatebringer. They likely want it unique to this to make it special. I managed to get a great cold front with dragonfly and will enjoy it until it becomes swashbuckler.

Community: Fix PvP, stasis, Sunsetting and add more content and rewarding loot. Bungie: We are fixing firefly on cold front.

In the spirit of the Dawning, the generous solution would have been to switch it to Firefly. Seriously, where was the harm in doing that? To the people saying this isn't a big deal, well, you're kinda right but at the same time the decision Bungie have made here is indicative of a broader problem. Sunsetting is supposed to make opportunities for Bungie to be more creative and bold with weapon perks, that was the outline they provided for it. This was an opportunity, they opted to turn it into just another SMG.
