Just finished Stargate Universe, again. Somehow, I keep hoping to see it come back. Worst possible way to cancel a show. Sure, it had a rocky start, but I felt it really came into its own. And then, just as it gets to a season ending cliffhanger, boom. Done. And just like the crew of the Destiny, the show jumped away. But far, my most disappointing TV cancellation.
Edit: For the Firefly faithful, yes, it is also on my list of all time disappointing cancellations. Reason it isn't number one is because it got a movie, books, comics, and plenty more to flesh out and provide closure to that universe.

The fact that they cancelled Dark Matter crushed my soul... The show had great ratings and a clear vision for two more seasons, which makes the cancellation even more depressing.
Sorry, all out of salt.
8 RepliesEdited by Cultmeister: 12/9/2020 5:19:21 PMHonestly it’s not the cancellation that’s bad it’s how they handle the finale when they know it’s the last series. For example, after 9 seasons it was probably time for The X-Files to bow out as the whole thing was getting weaker than an old lady’s pelvic floor, but did they really have to end it like THAT? It’s like they just chucked the show out of a window and threw a grenade after it. Shows being cancelled ‘before their time’ are sad and all, like how everybody expected to be making Farscape season 5 and then were just told at the end of season 4 the network was dropping it (or Firefly but I don’t particularly rate that as much as everybody else seems to), but there’s nothing worse than a ruined and rushed finale after you’ve invested several seasons in the show, and everybody knows beforehand that it’s the last season. Game of Thrones for example.

Lmao Stargate Universe was the first thing that popped into my head. Shame it took so long to get going. Pushing Daisies

3 RepliesHappy town Tera Nova Flash Forward I have long had a theory about cancelled shows. Why not start a network that will pick up shows that other networks cancel? The cast and crew will be able to stay on but at a reduced salary since they were cancelled from the original network they aired on. We can call it The Second Chance Network.

I haven’t watched a lot of shows that have been cancelled. I think Teen Titans is basically the only one. At least I think it was cancelled. That ending didn’t feel like an ending, anyway. The only other one that comes to mind is Invader Zim, but I haven’t seen that in a while, and don’t actually remember whether or not it had a disappointing ending.

3 RepliesAfter years of disappointment, I now have a rule.. I refuse to watch any show until it officially wraps up with a real finale. It’s hard sometimes. Especially when it’s a super popular series. I feel like I’m missing out and I have to dodge spoilers like a professional boxer. But I’ll never again have that sinking feeling when a beloved series gets canceled after a couple seasons.

1 ReplyFalse. The worst cancellation of a TV series, of all time, was the cancellation of Marvels, Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon. Now that, was a show that could’ve made history.
