Instead of faction rally and the vendors are just useless the rest of the time, why don't we just have the old faction system in destiny 1 with no tokens, just XP to earn and level individually to get your faction's Sweet sweet LOOT!

I miss the old rep system. I actually felt like I was doing something when playing strikes. Leveling my weapons, my faction, the cryptarch, the vanguard and then doing bounties on top of it. What are we getting now during strikes? Maybe some mostly useless bounties and an inconsequential triumph chase. The anomaly being the chase after pinnacles weapons, but that's more the weapon itself than it is the strikes.

1 ReplyEach faction should have a story quest Bungie has great lore and need to actually utilize it

I hope it returns as it did in D1. I think with armor 2.0 this would be the perfect time to bring back factions to their former glory. Make it strictly earned through xp and bring back the year 1 weapons with random rolls. I think it is the best thing to have in this type of game. A gear grind that you earn no matter what you are doing. Something you are always earning in the background. I just think they don't want to hear the people complain about faction gear/weapons being reskins. Even though they only have ever been reskins.
-
If all they did was keep old faction weapons but give them random rolls that would satisfy for a little while
-
Yes and have rewards for hitting levels of your faction, faction specific armor, shaders, orniments for armor, ships, emblems, maybe have an ultimate set for a ridiculous level like 100 that looks unique and on and on, could make some cool rewards this way
-
That would be awesome if Factions actually had an effect on the game world. As it was, factions were just vendors with different names, selling different colored reskins. That’s fine and all but Bungie shouldn’t pretend they actually have anything to do with competing leadership ideologies.

Remove the planetary vendors... Bring back (permanent) Faction Vendors in the Tower (complete with loot, armour/weaponry, shaders etc ....& special difficult bounties & general reputation earned whilst wearing the colours of that Faction (changeable every week) All the bounties would be moved to the Factions So, for example: ‘Kill Hive on Titan+Collect Alkalane Dust’ earns Faction Rank points & credit towards Sloane gear (similar bounties applicable for other locations) All Planetary vendor gear is consolidated into Faction gear....if you want Titan gear, then run Faction bounties that apply to Titan.....Nessus?...Run Nessus Faction bounties One Stop Shop! 👍 Then overhaul the Flashpoint (including Adventures & Lost Sectors (now all hidden & full of Saboteurs/Wanted/surprises etc), make everything on that location crazy difficult (Prestige min/above current light level....hide things on the planets, ghosts, scannable lore, quest map pieces ....make them both hard to find & bloody difficult to retrieve through combat....sometimes the goal is to distract whilst someone sneaks through to pick up intel etc)....bring back that particular planets vendor, give them a fresh inventory & a chance of a Y3 freshly updated perk weapon (*Prime* rare as in the Old Fashioned HC & even move the Nightfall weapons from Y1 into Y3 and make them Flashpoint rank rewards, with fresh new Nightfall weaponry in their place) Between completing bounties for Faction & the Flashpoint vendor....earns reputation and credit towards that particular locations *Prime* gear/weapon/armour....note, it will take time/fireteam, graft & perseverance! *Prime* weapon needs renaming!😆

Us: Just leave factions the way they were in D1. Bungo: We hear you and removed factions. Cuz Bung

1 ReplyThe only faction Bungie cares about is Eververse. And they are too lazy to update the gear for the factions they do have, they aren't making 3 extra new gear sets every season Im starting to regret pre-ordering, and am not thrilled about Destinys future the more and more I hear abut year 3 😒

1 ReplyI miss the old factions in Destiny 1.

I’d love to see more faction weeks. IB is constantly here but factions very rarely. I miss how it was in D1 also.
-
What I don’t understand is why we’re just pawns to the factions. I eat gods for breakfast. The factions should be coming to me to endorse their agenda for the city.

1 ReplyEverytime I come up the stairs and see that New Monarchy flag off to my right I stop for a moment and SMH. It's a shame really.
-
Hey, making games is hard. Making a sequel that is disappointing is easy though.
-
Just as it was in D1. Give it back now, not years from now and at a price.
-
I jumped into Destiny 2 a year after everyone else. I had a pretty bad taste in my mouth for the paywall scheme in D1, but I digress. I was pretty astounded to see that the same format with the Factions wasn't in D2, and to this day I still have not participated in any Faction activities or Trials. I really hope this is something that becomes addressed in the near future. I remember them talking about some type of changes to Factions many many months ago. However, with the split from Money Town, and losing a lot of talent... I'm doubtful that Factions will even become a thing again. At least not in D2.

Played d1 alot and havent played for about 2 years and i was so confused when i saw the factions but couldn't interact :/
-
This, still irritates me I missing just a few things, i think i might have caught ocd from Destiny 2 :/
-
Agreed 100%

I have no sweet clue why this hasn't happened yet. We are going into the third year of this game and factions are still irrelevant. Oh. Sorry. I forgot. Factions don't involve eververse. My apologies.

Faction treatment in d2 is a big part of why I barely play it. Just check in occasionally to see if any improvements.
-
I'd like for them to actually do something though. Instead of just being vendors selling reskins

Dark Souls does something pretty similar and if I recall correctly probably the same. Unlike dark souls though Destiny just hands you tokens for any little thing. In Dark souls however the only way to get the item to level up your progress is by engaging with the multiplayer component. Particularly by helping players slay bosses. In other words it does the thing guided games tries to do and doesn't completely fail at it. Another one is encouraging players to slay each other on their journey. People seem to want PvP in PvE areas and I wouldn't mind one bit if Destiny took more pages out of Dark Souls' design. It's genuinely great.

I miss factions too. I still use the shaders, ships and emblems as a form of protest. The loot would be most welcomed but it needs to be updated to random rolls and armor 2.0.
