Did everyone forget how in D1 you literally weren’t allowed into a raid team unless you had gjally? Or how every raid post requires 10+ clears even on day 1. “KWTD or get booted.” Or if you die in a raid and cause the team to fail you get booted? If you queue for a match-made activity and fail once, everyone will leave the fire team instead of trying again?
Everyone thinks the PvP community’s favorite phrase is “git gud” but there are constant posts about the zero hour mission right now regarding its difficulty. Guess what you can find there? PvE players telling other PvE players to “git gud.”
So is it just the PvP crowd who is toxic? If anything, the D2 community in general is toxic.
Disclaimer:
inb4 “git gud” - I am a pretty good overall Destiny player. I’ve soloed the shattered throne. Had over 100 King’s Fall completions. I have 1K Voices, Luna’s, Recluse, Breakneck, 21% Delirium, Outbreak w/ catalyst. I’m not complaining about LFG or the PvE community. I think that most people play both PvP and PvE and that, sadly, the entire community is toxic in general
In regards to responses on teaching new players:
”Usually I’m in the mood to teach new players but sometimes I just want to get through a raid.”
In PvP that translates to “Usually I don’t mind losing some games but sometimes I just want to get a group together and roll through every team we face.”
It’s a double standard in that the PvE player is considered “normal” and the PvP player is considered a “sweat” or “tryhard”
In regards to responses on KWTD:
Yes you can watch a YouTube video. I do this before I enter any new activity requiring a coordinated team. However, most YouTube videos will explain the mechanics that are easy to learn but you can’t learn the different strategies different teams do without actually getting in an getting some clears done.
“Okay I got 1, so who’s gonna take 2, 3, and 4?”
“Are we doing the ABC strat or XYZ strat?”
You can know all of the mechanics but don’t know the strategies. Asking what being number 2 means is a boot. Saying you haven’t done it before but you know how the mechanics work is also a boot
4 RepliesI just wanna point out that having 1K Voices is by no means a show of skill, but luck.

1 ReplyBest part is when people like that mess up they don't say anything they just blame something else
-
2 RepliesAll Destiny players are toxic. PvE elitism, PvP elitism, it’s pick your poison really.

Edited by H1vac: 5/16/2019 6:47:44 PMI've never been booted from a fireteam for not knowing what to do.
because I usually know what to do (except for the zero hour thing, i was clueless)
I haven't seen any raid posts that require more than 2-10 clears. I do see some light level requirements now and then to allow for smooth progression. Same with knowing what to do for a raid or nightfall, etc. Then there's the tr3v3r mission which apparently has you chase a striker robot around a ring (not really).

1 ReplyEdited by Divine_Majin93: 5/15/2019 6:24:14 AMThe largest issue the Destiny franchise faces is the fact that it's own playerbase can't decide what it wants. This is where Bungie went wrong. Instead of designing a product they envisioned which appealed to a certain audience, they designed Destiny be a product that tried to appeal to all audiences that is driven by a community hive mind. Bungie literally only makes things the community either begs or complains for. And it will struggle throughout it's entire run because of that decision. When you make a product for everyone, you make a product for no one.

It’s because GameStop nerds that’s why
-
From what I’ve seen most games just generally have horrible, shitty communities.

I completed my first vault of glass with a clan who needed one more. I messed up once. Right before Atheon (is that his name?) died, they booted me. Luckily, next raid I did with a nicer team and I got my mythoclast on the first try. Abused it in PvP, too lol

I agree, a majority of the Destiny community is toxic but the rest are usually super helpful and kind. It's all about finding a good group to play with

1 ReplyNot to mention the pve garbage that wants PvP removed because "Bungo forcing me to play it 😭" Even though they're just mad about a PvP step for a PvP weapon they're never going to use. The most toxic people of this community.

14 RepliesPVP players think it requires skill to use fusion rifles and shotguns LMAO Yes pvp is that toxic

2 RepliesElitism and toxicity aren't the same thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW4C2oG39NQ This video is a good starting point in terms of understanding the difference between elitism and toxicity. This video is a very good analysis of why The Division (1 & 2)s "Dark Zone" is a game design failure. His point is that the Dark Zone is a failure because it---by design---promotes and rewards toxic behavior. Ganking, Griefing, and Spawn Camping (as opposed to Dueling). (He's right). ..and that this kind of toxic behavior leads to even worse toxic behavior. (You see as many videos about people in the Dark Zone---especially Div 1----being assholes as you do actual game play.) In short, "Elitism" is---at worst---selfish behavior. I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE...because I'm focused on my own. I won't let you play with me. I don't care if the game is accessible or fun for you, as long as it is for me. TOXIC behavior is malicious/predatory behavior. I AM GOING TO ENTERTAIN MYSELF BY RUINING **YOUR** EXPERIENCE. My fun isn't going to come from just playing the game, but through the knowledge that you are having less fun or no fun (You mad, bro??) as a result of coming into contact with me. Either from me ruining your experience through how I interact with you in the game.....or how interact wtih you verbal (taunts, slurs, verbal abuse, hate mail, etc..) Elitists can be annoying.....but they seldom damage a game. Most people just ignore them. TOXIC people can ruin a game. Because they can make playing the game such a miserable experience for other people, that they quit. The Dark Zone got so out of control in the first year of The Division 1 that it was one of the biggest complaints to the devs about the game....and one of the most commonly cited reasons for why people quit the game. Because Massive at the time was hellbent on forcing people to have go in there in order to progress....because they couldn't accept that its only a small minority of gamers who actually enjoy open-world PVP....and most people hate it with a passion. Worse, the Dark Zone (as you can see from the video) is a particularly nasty variant of it....so people REALLY hated it.

It's also better to choose what time to lfg for an activity. 5-9 pm is a no-go since most people just got home and want a quick and easy roll through.

4 RepliesPosted this reply on another thread, but same concept.

I don't think pve players are toxic. They don't usually bother with the forums. They either just play the game or quit pkaying. Being outnumbered by the minority, they(pve players) know that all the post about "nerf this" and "nerf that" get priority, instead of the "stop nerfing stuff for pvp" posts. Then anyone who doesn't agree with someone's opinion gets labeled "toxic". PvE players aren't worried about Magnificent Howl, weapon time to kill, super duration, etc... Most don't even bother with crucible unless it's for a quest. Then the pvp players who "git rekt" by something that's not the sweat meta they have equipped come to the forums asking for nerfs, and people try to say it's a pve player complaining. "It's a fascinating process..."

What is the point of this post?

4 RepliesSome destiny players are toxic. Some fifa players are toxic. Some r6 siege players are toxic. Some halo players are toxic. Some gta players are toxic I forgot the point I was making.......

You have to take into consideration that the time you are talking about was before trials. Pvp wasn't fully established yet and obviously made pve look more toxic

2 RepliesEdited by Vegalink: 5/15/2019 5:14:45 PMAaaaaaaaaaawwwww yeah!

2 RepliesYou my friend are on point!!!! I am neither a pve or pvp main. I am a destiny main. I love the game....
AS A WHOLE
it is
WHY I EFFIN BOUGHT IT
1 ReplyHaving requirements for an activity that requires almost perfect teamwork, (raids) is not really being toxic. Toxic is sending messages after a match telling another player how bad they are, or to go kill themselves, (PVP) Toxic is wanting matchmaking that allows players to stomp others, which is often done simply to ruin the ones being stomped fun. Toxic is enjoying stopping another player from achieving a goal in the game, (Lunas, NF) or purposely running stacked for the sole reason of stopping another player from getting something they are working for.

In my experience they generally have big ego's and talk down on others a lot, always raging at opponents throwing shade lol

People don't want to play, and if they do they want to play as little as possible. Yet they want to grind. Any attempts to solve that issue is deemed detrimental to the game. It's a wonderful thing to see a game crash and burn because of that.

1 ReplyThis community is full of double standards, elitism, and hypocracy. I just try to ignore it and help when i have time
-
20 RepliesThe thing is, the pvp community constantly calls for sandbox reworks, and that normally takes the shape of a nerf. The pve community was never asking for said nerf, and the nerf normally removes the fun factor of the weapon. For an extreme example of this, look at vanilla D2

5 RepliesI remember in d1 when people blew things completely out of proportion, seems like that hasn't changed. Plenty of groups that didn't ask for gally, same as there are plenty of groups that don't say kwtd. The issue is when people join these groups expecting to be taught everything and be allowed to explore etc. If you want this you need to make you're own group. Heck just make a clan and everyone complaining about not being able to do such and such can join. Problem solved.
Did everyone forget how in D1 you literally weren’t allowed into a raid team unless you had gjally?
Never encountered it in the first place so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
