I wasn't initially aware of this, but just the other day, while I was going through old destiny 2 news, articles and interviews, I came across an interesting piece that revealed to us that Destiny 2 CAN actually run 60 Frames Per Second on Consoles. Since it's part of an interview, I'll leave the link for you to see it for yourselves.

34 RepliesEdited by MojoPin: 8/16/2017 5:35:20 PMYou know, the people that keep saying Bungie is too lazy to get the game running at 60 FPS are the same people that are too lazy and cheap to build their own PC that will run Destiny 2 at 60 FPS in 1080P. You people have no excuse, they aren't too difficult to build if you have a brain and a bit of courage, It can be a bit trifling for your first build but that is still no excuse to rag on Bungie when you are really holding yourself back from that performance if you want it.

Edited by Galt13: 8/17/2017 9:14:00 PMOk. Whatever inbred streamer that was has serious comprehension deficit syndrome. Neither console is capable of rendering Destiny in 60fps. That's what the interview said. I'm muting you for listening to that moron and thinking he had a valid point.

1 ReplyEdited by holydracoeva: 8/17/2017 9:22:03 PMthey could run the game smoothly at 60fps on console, but they would have to down size the environment and reduce enemy numbers and such or else the game would be unplayable due to frame rate drop.

1 ReplyYeah, until you shoot or do anything. The frames will dip faster then a man into sasha grey.

Edited by Zimbeaux: 8/17/2017 8:39:38 PMFrom the replies to this post I can tell a majority of people have no idea how computers run their programs They can't do everything in a second and obviously destiny has a a lot of ai functions happening at the same time If enough people comment to this post I'd love to enlighten you with the information of how computers run their programs

4 RepliesEdited by GrundleBeans: 8/14/2017 11:56:16 PMThis reveals nothing new that we haven't already discussed a bunch. The only part that could do 60fps is PvP, which hasn't actually been confirmed on the PS4 or Xbox One. If you allow only PvP to do 60fps and not the rest, that creates a disjointed and jarring experience for everyone whenever they go between the two. Plus it's an unfair advantage for anyone using a Pro or X1X if they're the only ones getting 60fps while the majority get half that. CAN do isn't the same as SHOULD do.

1 Reply720p/60fps masterrace
-
Sorry but if you are so bothered that you want to run D2 at 60fps forget a console and get the PC version.
-
1 ReplyYes it can. BUNGO choose not to. 1440p 60 fps like Battlefront 2 is a perfect example.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Consum3 Nut: 8/17/2017 5:18:11 PMCan somebody give me a console game that has a large scale cooperative pve mode at 60fps. I can't think of any.
-
As long as you limit what happens in a game you can run the game at whatever speed you want. If you shrink the maps, reduce the number of adds and reduce the number of players in an area you could probably run pve at 60 fps. You will, of course, completely ruin the game for the sake of the graphics update speed but some people think that the fps is all that matters.
-
Sorry, but destiny 2 can't run their pve at 60fps. No matter how much some want to do that, it just can't. While some would say that they should make PvP 60fps, and that likely could have been done. (Too late now) Bungie has said from the release of destiny that you should feel no difference from one game mode to another. So I'm afraid 60fps is off the table, and won't be in this generation of consoles.

3 RepliesAll they needed to do was what uncharted 4 did, 30fps for pve and 60fps for pvp
-
3 RepliesSeems obvious: 30fps in pve, 60fps in crucible. Weapon balance for pve, weapon balance for pvp. Play my character on xbox, play my same character on playstation. I can only assume there are more technical limitations then we are aware of, otherwise the only alternative doesn't look very good for Bungie as a company...
-
3 RepliesYes it probably could but it wouldn't be stable, better to lock at 30 and have it smooth and stable than the frame rate goin up and down, especially in pvp, just get over it, it's 30fps, it's staying 30fps if you don't like it go away.
-
1 ReplyThe speaker in the video provides a key reason why there wouldn't be 60 FPS in the Crucible. He states that a frame-rate drop between PvE and PvP would create a disparity that would be in conflict with the design goal for the Destiny title, which is to create a seamless experience that looks and feels the same no matter what game-mode. Destiny 2 could potentially run the Crucible at a locked 60 frames per second, but that does not mean that it should. Not to mention that it would put higher-end consoles users at some sort of advantage that is unobtainable to anyone else.

5 RepliesNot that they cant but if you get a moment with anymore than 3-8 supers going of with nades in the mix or boss aoe effects etc at 60 fps it will tank a console. By no means am i saying they cant but could you deal with the odd moment of dropping to say like 10? Or freeze completely?
-
3 Repliesit obviously can Bungie is too lazy for it Call of Duty ran 60 fps including advanced warfare on old gen consoles, and the next gen cant? lmaoo
-
1 ReplyNo. No console is powerful enough to play D2 at 60fps without cutting other aspects of the game out. Just look up the specs for a PC to run D2 at 60 then compare to even the PS pro.
-
Any game CAN run at 60 fps on current gen consoles, but it comes at a cost.
