Dear Bungie,
You finally acknowledge that Destiny needs some form of LFG in the game and add Guided Games, but now are scaling it back and won't offer this for Nightfall and Heroic level activities? This is so stupid. This is going to push people right back into third party LFGs, or have people open a Guided Game on normal but then pull a bait and switch and switch to heroic mode. How can you be so oblivious to the needs of your community?
Lets get a little community feedback.
Should Destiny 2 have Guided Games for all content? Answer in the poll above.

Edited by RAIST5150: 6/20/2017 1:06:29 AMCurious where this "scaling back" notion is coming from? The May Twitch reveal focused a lot on the angle of helping first timers and the in-game selection screen they showed clearly only had the option there for NORMAL modes. Normal Normal//Seeker Normal//Guide Heroic

I honestly wasn't too surprised when they revealed that it would only be for normal mode. I don't think this is a big deal either. The idea being, at least from Bungie's perspective, you use guided games for normal and find a group you enjoy playing with and join said group removing the need to use the feature any further. What I feel the big issue is, is regarding balancing being universal and not separated between PvE and PvP. This was a big factor for me not playing anymore and even not planning to buy D2. To hear Luke dance around the question but give the impression that balance will be tied is disappointing and reaffirms my decision to hold off on purchase until later. Was going to wait until I could watch decent chunks of gameplay but now I'll be waiting until they've dropped a couple balance patches unless the beta just blows me away, which I doubt will happen.

No idea, hope so but
Be humans ffs God, if you see a new guardian in a strike, no matter what light level they are, help them. Unless the are afk. If they are in a patrol clearly looking like they are doing bounties, leave them the hell alone. If they are on the fourms asking how something works or asking for help (on a raid exotic quest). Answer the -blam!-ing question, point them in the correct direction, or don't speak at all. No one wants to hear "I already got it, so I can't help" why say anything at all? I swear....this community boi. We have all been in the position of the new players, why not show them the way? Idk about Destiny 2 or guided games. Zero faith in it working. Not because of only bungie, but because of how you people act.
2 RepliesYes, but there's an easy workaround even if they don't implement it. Just do Guided Games for Normal mode, then take the party to Heroic.
-
1 ReplyThere's no reason why guided games would not work on hard mode provided any individual had previously done normal. I honestly don't understand why gg only applies to normal mode. I'm in a clan and the only reason I want gg is cos we often have to wait in orbit for a 6th player. If no hard mode then our clan will barely use it!
-
I think it should be for all activities. I understand that they designed it to kinda give you a launch pad to a group, and that's good, but you can have a raid team, plus numerous others you raid with to help them, and then your in a situation where you need to grab people off lfg, because your running low on friends playing destiny. While guided games will still be there, It would be nice to be able to do the same on the hard mode if that is where you are on your progression.
-
honestly if they are going to invest effort in an in game matchmaking and then market it like its a big deal, then yes, it should apply to every game including heroic raids and nightfalls. Many will not use it, those in well established clans etc however, by not adding it in, it just feels like laziness from bungie yet again.. and a waste of time and resources when it could have been put to a better use for actual game content.
-
The thing does it really matter? If you want to find and join a clan is that hard to do? If you are a loner how long would it take to LFG a 3 person team for nightfall? Likely less time than the new system will take LOL. With all the issues of the new game on the way and there are many I don't see this one as anything but bungie falling short of a good idea......yet again. Add ranked crucible to that, get the idea. They always seem to do about 30% of what they should do to make the game actually better.

10 RepliesWhy have so many people failed to just join a clan, form a discord server, groupme, slack, Google hangout, etc? I bought the game and was in a clan on the second day. Never had trouble finding people ever again. Just open up groupme say "Anyone wanna -blam!- crota?" and boom, some of my best friends are by my side fighting the good fight.
-
Guided games will get gamed just like you said, once people are done with normal mode raids they'll start using it for heroic mode raids. I will laugh hard and long too because it's exactly what bungie deserves for not implementing a proper lfg system in a game that is completely centered on endgame group content. I mean after three years of this bullshit we've had enough. How -blam!-ing stupid can bungie be? I fully intend to use the guided games for hard mode content and I don't -blam!-ing care if they like it.
-
Yes, which means that they'll probably include it in a 30$ DLC down the road so they can say they "listened" to the community.
-
If you've played all through Destiny 1 and still don't have any friends, that's your problem.
-
1 ReplyThere had to be a catch. Guided Games was a limited enough feature to begin with compared to in game LFG or matchmaking. Now it's been revealed that it's limited to the point of uselessness.
-
Should be available for ALL activities. Anything less and its just an excuse for Bungie to promote other things.
-
in a community and find a friend game why the hell not.

4 RepliesIn my opinion nightfalls and strikes are so easy to learn, that they can use just normal matchmaking. The whole point of guided games is to teach new players how to play them. This is actually a valid reason for it, because raids in Destiny are decently complicated at first, if you have never played them before. Thats why (some players) didnt want matchmaking in raids, because it would be just headless chickens running around not knowing what to do. Strikes in the otherhand are just run and gun co-op missions where you dont have puzzles and boss fights doesnt require voice chat communication because they are really simple. Nightfalls are just these strikes but in harder difficulty.
-
Nah. Make friends
-
If D1 is any indication, there's no reason not to have have optional matchmaking for these activities.
-
2 RepliesWill Guided Games only be used by clans of 5 to add a 6th member and vice versa with a solo player being only able to join clans of 5? Or will it allow you to add multiple players to your game were you to enter GG with 3 or 4 clan members in need of 2 or 3 players? I think I'll be able to find 3-4 friends who will actually purchase the game but it would be difficult to always assemble a group of 5 if we are only allowed to add a single player and are wanting to participate in some of the harder raids/strikes.

It seems like the higher ups in the company are meddling again. Like all of these small but restrictive changes is like some sort of attempt to save money or resources at the expense of the player's enjoyment. The whole ability to adjust a single weapon is good but it's only great when you pair it with the separation of pvp from pve. And the no matchmaking for nightfalls and the like all save on memory space, a resource that costs money. Destiny has the potential to be the greatest game of the decade, but it can't be with people holding it back just to save and/or make a buck. Bungie, if you want to make the best game possible with the players forging large and fun communities then you need to give them the freedom and opportunities to do so. Take the game of chess as an example. You created the Destiny universe which sets the board and rules that the players play in. Each piece is the gear, weapons, and abilities that players use within the universe/board. The player has the freedom to use their pieces and move how and where they want, win or lose. Your main goal at this point, above all, is to ensure fairness and fun then adding new content and events which is like expanding the board. However, the limitations on players playing together is limiting how much fun players can have. Not separating pvp from pve so that the nerfs for one won't effect the other is like limiting the best chess piece which makes the game more difficult and not fun. Please Bungie, let us play with freedom without limitations. Just make sure that everybody has a fair shot.

1 ReplyEdited by chickengoujohn93: 6/15/2017 9:02:12 PMThe game should simply have in game LFG. I'm looking for a Titan i'll find a person who posted as a Titan looking to do the same activity as me, as a bonus because because were in game, I can view what he's rocking before I invite him. It's that damn simple Bungie!!!!!!!! In all seriousness, how were 4-5 man clans going to accommodate the millions of solo players out there? There are very few dedicated clans. Most clans ended up being reduced to glorified clan tags as people simply do not commit. Also, those few (by comparison) dedicated Raiding clans would rather wait if one of their clan members can't play than allow some random who doesn't know the concept of anti-clockwise join them, a person of which could potentially ruin a Raid run single-handedly. They never mentioned anything about a soloist or a 2-3 team opening his/her/their fireteam to allow others to join. They kept emphasizing 4-5 man clans that need 1-2 more players only. Seemed limited to begin with, after E3 its the final nail in the coffin for GG's and the game isn't even out yet! Destinylfg.net it is, just ike I predicted back in May. A comment of which did not go down so well when I pointed my concerns and the flaws on Reddit. I'd be an advocate for direct matchmaking up to the point of Nightfalls. But that's where direct matchmaking would stop on the difficulty pyramid. After that, manual matchmaking (LFG) where players can post their credentials and vet/question each other (mics, class, loadouts,*specialities) before committing to play with each other. *Specialities: Run relic, run sword, hold Gaze etc.

Edited by Duke: 6/15/2017 8:36:22 PMCan we stop pretending like running it through clans was a good idea in the first place? Guided Games was never a good idea. Needed a rework from the beginning. Thank sweet baby Jesus I'll never need to touch this crap. Still very much playing the game but thanking my stars that I have a clan and irl friends.

I have said many times on sites. This is an EASY EASY problem to fix. Every single strike and raid could have matchmaking for an "Easy" difficulty for the strike or raid. Make the puzzles guided or easier on the Easy difficulty. Cut back on the difficulty of all of the enemies in said strike or mission. This would have no , NONE, ZILTCH impact on the Hardcore players. The Hardcore players would still have the bragging rights for completing said strike or raid on legendary difficulty. but of course you will still have Elitists that have an issuewith it because they have the need to feel special for completing it.

4 RepliesEdited by Kone19ps: 6/15/2017 4:08:12 PMReally? What the hell is the point of doing it halfassed? They solved nothing then. Tac that on to 4v4 and no confidence in pve content quality and quantity D2 is looking more and more like a pass
-
1 ReplyThey should stop trying to force gamers to play how they want them to play and stop looking for excuses or ways around things. The game would be a hell of a lot better off.

Edited by The Dude: 6/15/2017 6:02:15 PMDestiny 2: we made half a game (AGAIN, AND YOU FELL FOR IT....AGAIN!) Why do something as simple as include a checkbox to make matchmaking... OH my -blam!-ing gosh....OPTIONAL?!!?
