I guess I'm just dense because I don't really understand why the new adept weapons are such a bad thing?
We're getting some of our most favored weapons back from the abyss that is Year One but for some reason the new system being used to give us back our elemental primaries is being hated on by a lot of people on Bnet. I don't understand, ever since Year Two began people have been wanting a solar and void companion to the Zhalo Supercell but now all of a sudden it's a bad thing that we're getting just that and more.
I'm not trying to be harsh and criticize people for this, so if I come off that way I'm sorry. I just want to know why people are hating on this so much.
Edit: Grammar and Spelling(I rushed this a little)
Edit 2: Leaping Leopards Batman I didn't expect this to take off.
Edit 3: I've been reading through all of your posts and I seem to have an understanding of it now. It seems that people are just genuinely upset that they can't run their old generic loadout from Year 1 ex: Fatebringer, Black Hammer and Gjally. I can see why that is disappointing but I also see the potential for new loadouts to be crafted from this. Fatebringer is still getting a legendary varient so it will still be one of the better weapons for VoG, the same rule applies to VoC.

Instead of making a legendary weapon exotic, they could have just added an elemental slot to unlock like ornaments have on all raid and trials adept weapons. I'm happy to have the weapons back, however in my opinion the way they did it is lame. If your going to make something exotic add an extra perk to it at least. God forbid we burn through a strike or raid a little bit faster, especially with D2 around the corner.
-
Seriously though why is everyone complaining that the elemental primaries are exotic? There's not much reason to use anything other than a primary exotic in PvE unless you're fighting Aksis (dark drinker)

1 ReplyI am currently on hiatus(still can't quit the forums lol) but i'll tell ya why, at least why i think. See, Bungie started destiny as a VERY fun pve game with pvp sprinkled in. Then, pvp became more and more a driving force behind sandbox team's decisions. Result? Well, we all know what happened. Year 1 was a blast. The biggest reason was that as you progressed and did the hardest pve content you felt more powerful in pve. You got better weapons(after plenty of grinding of course) So now they bring back these amazing guns. But not quite.......... Now they have to chew an exotic slot up? C'mon man. If it STARTED like that then it wouldn't be a big deal at all, but bungie can't seem to bring themselves to truly bring back the fun of year 1. It was fun having fang/voc/FB/Word equipped and still be able to run with an icebreaker or ghorn. So why take away something and then SORT OF give it back? I don't get it. I'm not really upset at all as i am going to wait for destiny 2, but i can see why people are tired of the "one step fwd, 2 steps back" that bungie has pulled over and over for 2.5years. Just my opinion and it's worth about........ohhhhhhhhhhh, jack squat? hahaha Have a good day bro!

Edited by RPG071: 3/23/2017 12:43:19 PMI read these forums everyday and I see the trending posts and I can tell you that by popular demand the old raids was requested to brought up to date . Also that burns on primaries would be exotic only and so Bungie did !! With this community it wouldn't matter if the game was 10/10 in rating , someone is always going to complain. And with that being said I say thanks Bungie for trying to please the community 👍
-
3 Replies1) they shouldn't have taken them away to begin with. 2) don't give them back like this. It's just Bungie's way of keeping people from using the OP loadputs from Y1. They don't want us using a Gally AND an elemental primary at the same time. 3) -blam!- it. Whatever. Just give me my Fatebringer back so I can start bringing the Fate to these alien -blam!-s like a mother -blam!-ing champ.

7 RepliesPlayer - "Bungie, we want elemental primaries back" Bungie - "Ok, we'll bring them back in exotic form" P - "Bungie, that's not what we wanted. We wanted them to be legendary" B - "You said elemental primaries. You didn't specify. The only elemental primary right now is Zhalo. Why would we bring back the old elemental primaries, and not make them exotic?" P - "Bungie, you're a bunch of lazy aholes, that never listen to the community. I will not play this game anymore. I shouldn't have to tell you to make them legendaries. You should already know that's what we want. We don't care that you're giving them the same treatment as Zhalo." B - "Ok, then we'll just take them back." P - "That's fine. We didn't want them in exotic form, so you can have them back." 2 weeks later... P - "Bungie, can we please have elemental primaries back?"
It's a never ending cycle... And people wonder why Bungie doesn't reply to the forums very often
I'm glad there seem to be plenty of others who think it's a good move. I'm really pleased with the change to Nechrochasm too, sounds like it'll be an absolute beast for crowd control.
-
I'm simple, it is not worth the exotic slot. Zhalo has an exotic perk in addition to ark damage. These are just elemental. If the new adept weapons had better perks than the standard ones, they would be much more useful.

10 RepliesBungie made elemental shields, and elemental legendary primaries (ELP) a raid exclusive to give raiders better reasons to grind raids. Those guns had no practical use elsewhere. Most legendary primaries have better stats. Each weapon has many percs, their permutation renders each variation a New Gun. Add that to each weapon and you have thousands of guns. Removing ELP removed less than 6 weapons from a pool of thousands of guns. Bungie saying the removal of ELP added 'variety' is just playing to a hopefully naive audience. Judging from some of the responses here, they are right! TLDR: to some here, Bungie could 'sell Sand to you if you were Saharan', and you would buy! Without independent thought, you wouldn't be capable of understanding when you were played. And: You were played!

Making a weapon an exotic isn't all a good thing.
-
3 RepliesSo is every raid primary gonna have an adept version? I missed the stream
-
Because the community bitches about anything they think is bad
-
I like it. They should be exotic for the elemental burn. If you are going for pvp then you can get the none elemental one. No reason what so ever to complain. Some people are never happy mate.
-
I called it. I knew they would make them exotic. I think its dumb tho that they are even bringing the weapons back as legendaries. Why bring back fatebringer with no burn at all its just a worse imago loop. Vision is a treads upon stars. Oversoul is grasp of malok. Like whats the point just give the exotic versions as rewards and leave the legendaries completely out of it

The thing that irritates me about this negative reaction is that it presumes everyone in the community does raids. We know the percentage of people who have completed a normal raid is low, so this is really just a treat for the people who love to raid. It's not like they're going to be handing these out to people, it's a 390 raid with challenges. To be honest, Bungie went to a great effort to give something back and some things new to the most hardcore of the PVE community. Also, the game is coming to an end, so having the best of the best for each of your load outs makes sense now. You can't really create variety when nothing new is being added anymore. Pretty soon after this patch, the ultimate weapons and load outs will be discovered and defined for almost any activity. And that's fine! The other thing that irritates me is year one people talking about year one as if it happened 40 years ago, and that no one will ever understand and you know what, it's pretty obvious no one will because they can't play year one anymore. But that's a whole other matter. My message is stop hating Bungie for doing what you asked within the bounds of reason. They made a mistake with putting elemental primaries out too early, they fixed those mistakes so you would still have a game to play and now they are bringing those things back for nostalgia but also because there is an actual end to the game now.
-
3 RepliesWhat makes it bullshit, in my opinion, is exotics in general. Why can't we just pop on three exotic weapons? Instead we had to pause the game and switch around. Hiding behind rocks or whatever. The game is just about to recieve it's last update. So why bother restricting people who just wanna have fun until destiny two? Now don't get me wrong, I'll buy destiny 2 when its final update comes out. I'm not throwing money into it until then.
-
For me... It's those specific weapons being locked behind a weekly challenge, so it could take pretty much forever to get the one your looking for, having to wait for the challenge to come into rotation and then only having a chance at it, so then having to wait for it to come into rotation again if it doesn't drop... There could be an indefinite wait of months, and I'm not patient enough for that. There will likely be some people who haven't gotten what they're after by the time D2 comes around... The other thing is that it locks out weapon combinations since the primaries now take an exotic slot if you want the elemental damage, instead of being legendary, freeing up use for special or heavy exotic weapons.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're probably not an alpha, beta, day one, or even an xmas noob.
-
It makes sense to me. Making them Exotics is really the only way to balance them. Hopefully they'll add additional Hive damage or something to Crota Weapons in place of the elements they are losing.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Rilla: 3/22/2017 11:52:13 PMbecause by placing these weapons in the same prestige as a mythoclast or nechrochasm, those weapons lose their prestige. Not only that, you would be stupid to run any exotic secondary or exotic heavy in any PvE activity (with burns) now.
-
6 RepliesGone are the days of the solar triplets. No more VoC, black hammer and Gjallarhorn.
-
4 RepliesI think the problem with that is we had elemental primaries in year 1. Now we get them back in Exotic form and it's a joke. There is no need to have it be exotic literally for that purpose only. It's not as good as it was, so people aren't happy they're getting a lesser version of year 1 stuff. It's like getting a half digested cheeseburger - you want the real thing. Will i still play? Yes.... Yes i will. However i will forever hold a grudge since the day they took them away from me.
-
11 RepliesBecause I feel like it's an indirect nerf to them since you can't run the same weapon combinations anymore. And the fact that they don't deserve exotic status with the perks. They are legendary at best like how we're all used to. It's the same scenario as Black Spindle. A legendary (Black Hammer) got it's perk nerfed and to make things worse, turned into an exotic!
-
These are weapons we spend a lot of hours to get, in my case about 3000! They were removed. They are being returned as a 'send off' last big bash. Except, you must regrind then and in another meaningless way since Destiny is done! I certainly will not care what others do, for I can no longer be baited. But just to answer your question.
-
Because they were and always should be legendary. It affects all loadouts. Changing this is unacceptable and bungie knows this so they have decided to slap us in the face and many of you are thanking them for this blatant disrespect. That amazes me.
-
Simple, because we wanted to go back to the year one days of feeling unbeatable on content, of actually feeling like a legend. This means I don't have that same freedom of choice and if I have to grind all over again, the least I should be able to do is use any rotation I want with raid and non raid gear, which means being able to use the Fatebringer with the Icebreaker.
