A solution to both sides of this argument, simply make a fun or unranked playlist along with a ranked playlist that is in someway connected with your guardian (such as color coded border around the player card or another numerical or alphabetical rank under your player level). This would add an additional perk to the game and another goal to accomplish. When you want to sweat a game, play in ranked playlist. When you want to pop off with a new "fun" weapon, hit the unranked playlist.

  • But really what the real problem with this would be the number of playlists in ranked and social. If you had all the playlists in both a lot of if would be barren and unpopulated. Social clash and control only with the rest being ranked. Then the DLC restrictions on top of all that and you have what feels like a dwindling population spread so thin no one can find a match.

  • I really think the problem with crucible is the fact there very little reason to play it. We as a people in general like to be recognized for our skill. It's why we always roll with the brand new playercard when we beat oryx for the first time or why we all wore that god awful glowhoo shader the first week the raid came out. We want people to know what we have accomplished. There really isn't anything for that when it comes to crucible games. By adding a ranking system, you should have a flood of new players flocking to crucible, filling games. But, then again, this is just my opinion, and I am by no means an expert. But I can tell you as of now, the only time I play PvP is Iron Banner and this is why. They (Bungie) dropped the ball on crucible.

I'll agree on that that there is no goal or end game in crucible. The loot drops are random and not enough of incentive to play. I play it out of boredom since re grinding PVE gets nauseating sometimes. But I would not hold my breath for a Halo like matchmaking and ranking algorithm from company that made Halo. But you need a steady flow to keep ranked going. If you split the flow into many weaker flowing channels you dry up the well.

  • Oh I completely agree and I don't expect it at all. It would actually surprise me if it did happen. This is the way I look at it. 95% of Destiny is PvE. The PvP aspect is lacking to say the least. Because of this, like yourself, people lose interest in grinding and some, like myself, leave. I stopped playing as hardmode was released for the second time because PvE got stale and crucible just isn't appealing to me. The only reason I came back is because a few weeks ago I wiped the slate clean. I deleted EVERYTHING and started fresh which has actually been great for me but I know it's only a matter of time. I was a big CoD player before destiny and feel that paying much more attention to the PvP aspect (including the story like the Last Word and Thorn) would not only keep players like myself, but bring in more players. This game has more potential than any other game I can remember. But if they keep making short cuts, than it will continue to be at the level it currently is.

  • But that's the point between the two playlist. One is a warm up or fun playlist which doesn't count for anything past exp and rep while the other is directly linked with skill. You're supposed to try hard. If you're referring to the unranked playlist, it don't see why it matters if they try hard. Neither of you gain nor lose anything from it.
