This "new RNG System" sucks ass.
[b][u]Let's get this trending by hitting that favorite so we can give a post for Bungie to see just how many of us are getting duplicates![/u][/b]
So as any destiny player, I bought 4 helmet engrams to try and go for that Y2 exotics. Redeem them one at a time, I dont spam. I use 2 on my titan, and 1 on each of my other classes. 2 on my titan that I redeemed were both skullfort, after I just bought the helmet itself from Xur. I redeemed one on my hunter and it was that new Titan helm that gives Angel of Light. I redeemed one on my warlock and got another skullfort. As anyone would, I was pissed. But I carried on and did a nightfall and guess what I got?

Apparently this new RNG System is not working for shite. I don't need 4 skullforts, so why did I get 4?
[b][u]EDIT #1:[/u][/b] Seems like I'm not the only one getting duplicates. Hopefully Bungie addresses the issue as its a little more than just having "bad luck".
[b][i]EDIT #2:[/i][/b] I bought these engrams 9/18 at 7:00 A.M. Eastern US for those accusing me of not knowing better. I had no other way of knowing prior this was an issue with exotic engrams as well. I had never gotten that many duplicates out of just 4 engrams, so I was not expecting that to happen to me then, especially with the "New RNG System" they implemented.
[b][u]EDIT #3:[/u][/b] Here's one quote from an article who wrote about their announcement of the changes.
[spoiler][i]The other important thing to take away from this is the changes that Bungie will be making to the RNG loot system. In Destiny 2.0 the system will have some procedures in place to limit the range of chosen items that can drop for you. This limit will be determined by the gear you already have as well as the weapons that have already dropped for you. Bungie has stated that these changes are meant to make each drop more meaningful - by reducing the amount of duplicate drops players get - and also to increase the chances of each drop actually pushing you forward in your level and goal of hitting the maximum level in Destiny.[/i][/spoiler]

Its a lot better, maybe not with exotic engrams, but actually getting gear I can use for infusions, that is higher than what I have equipped? Golden!

10 stag helmets, 6 alpha lupis, 6 death from above titan helmets, 5 purple hunter helmets, 5 earlock lightning gauntlets, 4 monte carlos, and so on. Obviousle I used 200 strange of coins.

I no longer loathe getting multiple pieces. I just use the additional exotic to infuse a legendary piece

I bought several helmet engrams from xur on my hunter and I was hoping for the forfeit helmet by time it was all said and done I ended up with 7 nighthawk helmets and 2 obsidian minds and 3 skyburners 3 thirdmans. I used all my strange coins and ended up not getting the one I wanted. It wouldn't have been so bad if not for the 7 nighthawks for heaven sake.

I've been playing my warlock since ttk came out, and keep in mind, they said the rolls would more often benefit your class than before rather than giving you other class-specific gear. First one: light beyond nemesis. I'm excited as that saved me 125 marks for re-purchasing it for y2. 2nd engram=some new hunter helm. Okay, I have a hunter and I'll use it one day, but they said that wouldn't happen as often... 3rd and 4th= more light beyond nemesis...now I'm pissed. Especially because I bought 3, grinder all day to get more coins and max my first LBN and the 3rd one was just way better stat-wise so I end up keeping ghat one instead and have to re-level the same helm. Not only do I want an experience transfer method for when you get better versions of the same item, but a fixed RNG system that is what they claim it was going to be. Also, they said shaders would be easier to grind. I've put 8 levels on dead orbit, got the nowhere right off the bat, followed by a 3rd bittersteel.. I'm rank 30 now and only have 2 different ones. I'd like to add, this wasn't isolated. I was playing with some buddies who also opened engrams we got got 3 of coins and got 3+ of the same item as well. I'm pissed, not because I got 3 of the same thing, but because they PROMISED us better loot rolls. If they're going to do it at all, they should have set it up so that you can't get a single duplicate until you have everything there is to get.

Nope. I have a 294 ghost and I'm level 291 so I don't have an issue with it. Except for I did get a shit ton of the same exotic helmet.

Literally wasted A L L my strange coins for engrams. Guess what I got. 4+ obsidian minds +4 LBN trying to get the stag. The only things worth my time os the Taikonaut when I start leveling my titan and the cabal hunter helm.

Out of the past 10 exotics I've gotten in the past few days, no repeats at all. My luck is the best it's ever been right now.

I got 3 primary weapon engrams using the three of coins and all 3 were euros regime. 3 helmet engrams and 2 were graviton. I am getting a lot of duplicates as well.

The three of coins wasn't as rewarding as I hoped , giving me the same exotics multiple times , I did manage to get my hands on zhao super cell though, and a few helmets , it just sucks that I got rewarded better from the helmet egrams, already got majority of the helmets in the game

I see no difference in year 1 I got 28 hawkmoons. Year 2 I have already got 2 that's 30 freaking hawkmoons, I GET IT BUNGIE AND I USE IT CAN I HAVE SOMETHING ELSE NOW.

Haven't got one duplicate yet and had these drop Jade rabbit Zhalo supercell TLW Y2 Suros Y2 Hereafter Helm st 14 y2 Star fire protocol y2 Sky fire annex Some y2 warlock guantlets I can't remember Crest alpha lupi y2 Maybe one or two more I can't remember. Honestly the best luck I've ever gotten!

on the duplicate part i agree. I have had monte carlo from Exotic primary's 2 or 3 dam times. And day 1 of TTK i got the Van Guard hand gun 5 dam times from primary legendary engrams. Its definitely not working for me, if bungie used a " new " system.

X6 obsidian mind, x3 celestial, x3 inmost light, x3 suros, Monte Carlo, hereafter, zhalo ect ect. Nothing seems changed IMO.
