First and foremost I like the Taken King! I've found that overall the game play and narrative are miles better than the previous DLC offered by Bungie. I do have some issues with the new currencies we have to now collect and the newest method to upgrade our exotic gear/weapons to the newest values.
If you took a moment to review the notes in our latest update you would have read that we are now very limited in our ability to earn our newest required currency: Legendary Marks. https://www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=13546
Legendary Marks are now earnable by completing Daily Story Chapters, Weekly Heroic Strikes, Daily PVP Activities, Weekly PVP Activities and Dismantling Year Two Legendary items
You can no longer earn Legendary Marks which are now replacing Vanguard and Crucible marks by playing anything other than the above mentioned activities. Yes, that means that outside of playing the daily and weekly playlists (besides dismantling gear) we are stuck not being able to earn what we need to be able to buy back our exotics or purchase the best legendary gear.
Yes, Bungie gave us the idea that we wouldn't be losing out on anything since there is no longer a weekly cap to how many marks we can earn but the fact is that we are now far more limited in our ability to obtain them than before. This is a underhanded way to make us play longer and as a result they can take those numbers and tout them as a success when in reality they are artificially increasing play time.
We constantly hear from Bungie that they respect our time and want this game to become less of a grind - but when it comes to acting they do the opposite. They completely undid all the progress they accomplished with the House of Wolves by removing etheric light and redoing what we so mightily complained about in the Dark Below. Why they are forcing us to rebuy our exotic gear and weapons is beyond me. Now they are making the process of getting your gear back even harder by requiring us to use a currency that is very difficult to amass quickly.
My goal with this post is to show Bungie we aren't fools and that we don't want them to keep jerking us around.

Edited by Deterministic J: 10/10/2015 8:25:21 PMFunny seeing these posts. You can do: Daily Story - 15 marks x 7 = 105 Daily Crucible - 15 marks x 7 =105 Weekly Heroic Strikes - 10 marks x 3 = 30 Weekly Heroic Crucible - 10 marks x 3 = 30 Dismantle Y2 Legendary gear That's 270 marks not including gear marks which is more than you could earn before. Etheric Light was not a good concept. They made it too easy to get your gear up. Once you get your gear maxed, the only reason you play is to do raids to get the stuff you don't have. I still have over 90+ Etheric Light because I didn't have any use for them.

3 RepliesI thought we were capped at 200 (but we could earn unlimited like for example if you're a pvp'er you could earn them all through crucible vs just 100)?
-
4 RepliesWhy would I need to buy back my year one exotics?! I have them all still and they spoonfed me hawkmoon. I can't wait to earn the marks to buy year two exotics which I did not previously own. I bet they're better than the old exotics I still have possession of

Edited by Rhapscallion: 9/17/2015 10:10:32 PMSigned. There's at least 3-4 days of the week I can't play. So I'm missing out on dailies. All my friends will get too far ahead and I will be left behind because I'm missing the marks. I should be able to farm them like we used to be able to. Strikes and crucible games as well as the dailies as they are.
-
We needed the pace to be slowed down somehow dude. You're not wrong but you're not right either.
-
My buddy has gotten over 300 since TTK dropped. Quitcherbitchin and play the damn game.
-
2 RepliesWell.... Theyre called legendary for a reason...
-
2 RepliesI disagree, I've got 70+ marks yesterday alone. Although you said there are limited ways to earn them, and you are right, you get extra ones from dismantling new legendary gear ... and it rains purple engrams on the dreadnought! Also you occasionally get 15 marks in regular crucible games too, not sure the drop rate but my buddy got 45 in a two hour session on control. I understand how you came to your conclusion but I think they aren't as rare as they seem

2 RepliesI love it. Makes the scrubs more noticable. Get your scrubbiness to work!

Edited by Jeff the Cabal: 9/17/2015 3:34:48 PMAfter 280 light I hear that they are used for almost nothing. It's kinda like shard/energy grinding.
-
Trust me, after you get 280+ light level marks are really only used for exotics so it's not a big deal.
-
1 ReplyI totally agree. I've played 15 hours on day 1 and more on two and three and I was only able to get one of the exotics I already had converted to the year two version with 150 marks. 150 marks in three days sucks. Iron Banner better be giving out 250 or more one level 3 and 5. It's going to take 6 months to get back to where I was before the taken king came out.
-
In like 3 hours yesterday I got 95 soo your argument is dumb and irrelevant
-
Man you people just don't get it. Vanguard and Crucible marks were never used for end game content. Legendary marks are. I really don't see why you guys don't get they're not the same thing, and shouldn't be earned in the same fashion.
-
Edited by DarthBrando: 9/17/2015 11:43:01 PMOk guess what: On top of daily and weekly heroics, you also get weekly vanguard and crucible quests to complete and obtain them from AND once high enough affinity, faction quests. You think you cant get enough? There are guardians RIGHT NOW first WEEK in with nearly 300 LIGHT LEVEL (they got there by obtaining year two legendary gear AND infusing stuff with them to make the light levels on them higher!---> that requires the legendary marks to obtain some of the gear and marks for EVERY INFUSION) Point is you can get AND spend plenty in one week!
-
Yeah the marks now may seem a bit light, but in the future i don't think this will be an issue. Im all about instant gratification, i want marks, i want them now, but its going to be a grind to get them. If you do the daily missions that 30 marks a day which is 210 marks a week. It's not too bad i guess. Only time will tell if this system works or not.
-
10 RepliesAre you brain damaged? You get marks from dismantling legendaries. I haven't said this is a while but l2p.
-
my problem with legendary marks right now is that they are needed to buy resources too. Key word is "right now", I imagine once I get near max light I'm gunna have more on my hands to level some gear other for their perks
-
So far this is my only issue with TTK. Even if it was 1 mark per strike in a playlist I'd be happy.
-
I am enjoying ttk, but I think that you are right about their motives.

Edited by O_Town_Racer: 9/17/2015 4:54:12 PMI agree - and call foul that we cannot run the daily.weekly missions once per character - only once per account. They put the marks total per account - fine - but let us run and collect marks for each character at least. Part of the fun was using each class and using their different abilities to overcome the challenges in those missions. Now there is no incentive to run the missions on more than one character.
-
1 ReplyEdited by SergioVengeance: 9/17/2015 7:30:52 AMI agree. It was refreshing to hear them say "no cap on marks in a week". But they then cap you on Strikes/Crucible. So it's counter productive. 30 marks per week, per account on strikes? How pathetic. It's just another chore now to do all the daily stuff. Didn't they want people to not feel as this game is a chore? Makes no damn sense If I want to play Clash of Control all day, give me marks. Let me play and earn marks the way I want to, like before. Don't lock me out of marks because I don't want to play salvage or rift.

1. Hey der 2. With all these missions/quest you get after you finish "killing" Oryx I'm pretty much swimming in marks. For example the quest "Never ending Battle" I just finished the 2nd part of it and got 35 marks from it. 3. If you go through all the quests and do the daily heroic and crucible, plus the nightfall you should have no trouble having over 400+ by the end of this week
-
9 RepliesDaily heroic = 15 x 7 = 105 marks/week daily crucible = 15 x 7 = 105 marks/week weekly heroic = 3 x 10 = 30 marks/week So at a minimum you can get 240 marks per week from just doing those activities. Of course those numbers assume you have 3 characters at level 40 with light levels at 240+/- to do the daily and weekly activities. Not sure if the nightfall rewards marks. Anyone know? But you can add in some quests that can offer up to 20-25 each along with dismantling legendary gear and you can easily exceed the 200 soft cap each week. Who know what the raid will offer? And there may still be some other ways to obtain marks that have not yet been revealed. It's a little early to start whining though.

Bump.
