Hey y'all this is a serious question. Im not hating on Destiny, it's been quite a fun game for me at times but maybe it's time to move on. I was wondering how you guys have liked TTK so far? If you have purchased it what is your opinion? Is it worth 40?
If you did not buy TTK what were your reasons?
The only thing keeping me from buying it is the fact that soon i may have too many games seeing as i pre ordered Star Wars Battlefront, Black Ops 3, and i will definitely get Fallout 4.
So im asking will TTK keep me entertained for that long? You guys need to understand that most of the community has already spent 95-100 bux total on this Destiny experience and thats without including TTK. (DESTINY + Exp 1 + Exp 2 = 95 for me) is it worth dishing out another 40?

We'll have to wait for the raid. We don't know for sure just yet. But I think it's worth it if you already like the game.

5 RepliesMy reasons for not buying?it's extensive...grab a lawn chair. Fall quarter starts next Monday, I'm a full-time stay at home dad that will be going to college full time, baby #2 on the way, my wife found out a few weeks ago that she will be loosing her job in the spring, every penny counts. Also, my car broke down last week...and we bought a car yesterday...it broke down today(no joke). On top of all that shit, my wife found out today from the doctor that she has multiple pre-cancerous cists (sp?) On her uterus progressing at an "incredibly rapid rate" but nothing can be done since she's 4 months pregnant. This...is why I can't get TTK. Yup..life sucks. :-/ Thanks for reading...I haven't actually told anyone most of this, so it helped a little to vent this somewhere.

1 ReplyNot buying it. Destiny is a cleverly hidden subscription game. It will only get worse from here.

6 RepliesPersonally I haven't bought any dlc at all since I cottoned on to their shady business practices. The hype before the game was disingenuous. They promised us a story emersive game world and we didn't get even a mediocre story to 'emerse' ourselves in. Since then I simply refused to fund the demise of gaming. Is it unreasonable to see a pattern emerge and expect it to continue? They just want addicts on the game because they know you will spend >£100 on one mediocre game. Look at it this way, if the base game of destiny came out with all the dlc, TTK included, would you ever have paid £100 for it? What they are doing is scandalous but desticle fan boys can't admit that because it means admitting to themselves that they are simply paying so that the time they invested doesn't feel like a waste. Like a guy constantly repairing his car costing thousands because he has already spent £xxx already and to get rid of it would feel like a waste, so he keeps throwing money at it so that he doesn't feel like all the money he's already thrown away was wasted. Bring on the salt...

1 ReplyEdited by MowMdown: 9/17/2015 2:55:25 PMHere is an honest answer from someone who hesitated and bought it anyways. It's refreshing after playing the same old thing. The game feels much different in a good way. So far it's been worth the $40 I paid. Don't listen to the haters. At first I didn't want to buy it but then again I did. The new light system is way better and leveling is like it should have been from the beginning. And this time there is a new raid coming out! If you are into that sort of thing. If $40 is too much, then don't buy it. If you are just hesitant whether to buy it or not because you are afraid of just throwing $40 down the drain when you should have picked up a different game, my suggestion is to weight out your options. Is the other game a better buy? If you honestly plan on playing destiny because you really did enjoy what you had, definitely buy it cause it's really pretty good! Edit* I can see myself putting at least another 200 hours into the game after TTK

Depends. With me, Destiny has always pulled me back. Like a bad drug addiction. I stopped buying other games because I never finished them. I'd try them out and come crawling back to Destiny, asking for forgiveness. Destiny never stays mad at me long. In all seriousness, I'm trying out two of those games on your list. I'm expecting to not play one longer than a week, and the other I'm concerned with how it'll turn out.

1 ReplyWhile I am enjoying the new content of The Taken King, the quests (or lack of a number of) kind of are a let down. I was lead into the idea of this really being Destiny 2 but rather its "Destiny.02 we wiped the slate clean so use our new shit". that wasn't meant in a hateful way but rather that TTK feels more like a reset than DLC. Just wait for the holiday discounts on TTK and get it then, but not now
-
I like the TTK I would pay 40 dollars again if I had to
-
Ive been on the fence with bungie for a while but im actually digging TTK. Theres definitely not a shortage of things to do.
-
well thanks for the input guys. I've decided not to get it... Not for 40 at least. It does sound like fun. Believe me. But I'm not quite a fan of bungie and their business tactics. I may pay 10 for it. If it never drops down to that price then screw it lol. And trust me i can afford the dlc at any price whether it be the 40 dollar the 60, or 80. And i understand that bungie finally made destiny fun.. But then wtf was the point in dlc 1 and 2? Those were completely crap. Those could be beat in a weak easy. Not enough content on those for the price we paid so it doesnt feel right to dish out more money just because they fixed their mistakes. Nope. If anything this new Taken King should have free!! To demonstrate to the players that they can and will make better content from now on and that they will focus more on story. Then that would have gained my trust towards bungie. And would make me a potential customer towards bungie 2. But fuhk all this. You guys have fun in the 10yr plan they have lolololol. Thanks for the input. It was an honest question but the replies from both sides have definitely opened my eyes to how shady bungie really is......See ya ☺

1 ReplyI got TTK, and so far it is definitely worth 40. But like the previous DLCs the content will get boring and stale and most of what's left is PvP which is fine for me bc I like that aspect more than PvE. But this first run through has been a blast, much more fun than the previous missions. Also takes longer to reach max light Level so that makes it more challenging as well.

4 RepliesEdited by ShadowKing292: 9/17/2015 1:24:07 PMI suggest that you buy it because you're locked out of ToO, IB, the Nightfall, all the dailies, and any gear of legendary quality or higher without it. You can't do shit...

1 ReplyDude you gotta realize it's been 100 or so bucks over the period of a year. It's not like you shelled it out all at once. In reality, the average destiny player has logged 300~500 hours if you've been here since the beginning. (I'm at like 1,500.) That's an insanely low price ratio compared to what you get out of most video games. The way I see it is, do you genuinely love to play destiny? If so, buy the expansion. I've already played the shit out of it and I'm not even 1/10000000 of the way through it

1 ReplyI don't know why you are getting downvoted for this honest question post. Fanboys love chugging the Kool-Aid I guess. I have the same questions as you.
-
I'd pay 60-80 hands down best and most fun I've had in a game in a while story is pretty good has cliff hangers and the quest system and the taken are just fun and the grind is worth because you actually feel like your making progress

19 RepliesBought it last night....beat it last night. Is that good enough for u?

12 RepliesIm buying a next gen console in a couple months with the release of either Star Wars, Fallout or Rockband. The Taken King does not scale up to next gen consoles if bought on a previous gen console. So to play TTK now and after I get the console upgrade, I'd have to buy this content, which I already think is overpriced, TWICE. That ain't happening. Whats most likely going to happen: I go through my backlog for a couple months. Get a new console. Get involved in newer games like those mentioned above. MAYBE take a look at Destiny 2 when info starts dropping next year. And probably wait till after that drops to make any decision on actually getting it because of the lack of continuity I'll be feeling.

Edited by S_726: 9/17/2015 11:18:04 AMTTK marks a new chapter for Destiny... New story telling and a much better ways to play the game all around. Destiny now feels like it's taking off in a great direction. story telling is fun and immersive missions are much better (new mechanics/challenges) strikes are greatly improved weapons/gear look and feel much better the game feels much more polished there is a lot to do some don't like it but I personally enjoy the grind the game as a whole has been overhauled + TTK = very nice It just depends on what you like but to me it's worth it and I'll get many hours of entertainment. your choice *Edit: So far the reward/loot system is much better.
-
Very fun. The story is very entertaining this time around
-
I'd say it's worth it. It feels like a new game not a dlc. Really fun and a lot to do, good story big new area and re visiting old. I feel like the first year was laying groundwork for what they originally hyped.
-
It has more than double the content of one of the first DLC's. I think it's worth it, I know I will play it a lot
-
I already owned destiny and all previous dlc, the £40 version wasn't available for me to download so I had to fork out £55 to pre order TTK. At the time I was mad about it, but now iv played it a little I think it is well worth the money to me it feels like a new game.

5 RepliesEdited by Gomly1980: 9/16/2015 11:52:00 AM#Destiny, #Gaming is for everything except Destiny, that game has it's own sub forums. That being said......
If you did not buy TTK what were your reasons?
I don't own the base game anymore. I bought it a few months ago, played it for about a week and traded it in. It's not my kind of game, it bored me. I prefer MMO's and RPG's. I bought it for 2 reasons. One it was going for £5 on Amazon and two in the description, and on the back of the box, it promised me rich cinematic storytelling. I got about 4 or 5 hours worth of story which was about as rich as a bankrupt hobo. It bored me. All I was looking for was a game to fill a few weeks until Witcher 3 and Heavensward were released. Final Fantasy XIV is my "main" game but our Free Company were taking a break until the expansion, After 6 months of trying to get everyone levelled, geared and ready for it we needed the rest. I wasn't looking for a new "main" game. Even if i' enjoyed Destiny it would have been shelved when those 2 games came out. As it was it didn't even fill those few weeks, I ended up going back to Fallout 3 to make a new mod while I waited. I did try to like it. I was bored after a couple of days but I stuck with it to see if it got better and I tried all the classes. It's just one of those things, it's not a game I enjoyed or will ever play again. On top of eveything that bored me I like a proper story in my game. I don't want to play the game and then go over to my PC to read grimoire cards to find out what the hell is going on. As such, I have no idea about the lore behind it, it's not explained in the game, and I have no idea who the main/important characters are. The biggest fault in it's design were the clans. Clans on a website and not in the actual game where they would benefit more people. It's like it's gone back to the 90's. Finding a group on a forum so I can then go back to my console and play the game, I did that in Unreal Tournament 99 16 years ago. As far QoL goes, Bungie is so far behind .... everything .... it's hilarious. Maybe in 10 years it will be worth playing but by then I doubt many people would be interested in all the DLC they would have to buy. This is why I prefer big MMO's. Free content patches and one big expansion every year or two not shitty little bits of overpriced crap every few months.

I like it. It has a good storyline as well as challenging levels. Only thing I don't like is year two green weapons are better than most year one legendarys and some exotics!
