Lost me at earn, what specific and replicable feat you performed in game to "EARN" it? U know what? Don't bother, we all know its 100% RNG based so you got yours for "free" if anything those buying from Xur at least had to grind for strange coins to earn theirs. not just a lucky roll like you.

  • Who sold you the idea that this game is all RNG? Destiny is no Japanese RPG, so who told you that? Serious question.

  • It is no secret that every reward in this game is tied to the RNG loot system. The only rewards that are not tied to this are explicitly stated on the director screen when you pick the activity you want (Story missions have some prescribed rewards same with POE and ToO) Whenever you complete an activity, be it the nightfall, weekly, the raids or even the crucible the game performs a roll to determine your reward and your performance in said activity does not affect the odds of said roll. Its all tied to a random number generator and the game's loot table. The best, most visible examples of this are the raids and the crucible, you could solo the raid and have someone join at the last possible second and they would have as much chance as you do to get the best loot. Same with the crucible There are times when the worst performing player is the only one getting a reward after a match hell I even have seen the gally drop for people on the last spot of the LOSING team once! Its all roll of the dice. Its not a even critique it just the way the game was programmed. To answer your question, it has been discussed before at length on forum posts and also on various patch notes, where Bungie routinely says they have increased the odds of some weapon or item dropping in response to enough people reporting its barely dropping after grinding for extended periods of time. The most recent example being the weapon "Husk of the pit" (A Dark Below weapon that only drops from the blades of Crota.)

  • Ok, you have put a lot of effort into your response, and articulated it well. But your heading was that this game is 100% RNG. If that's so, why do all of my day one friends - 40 of them - own every exotic weapon in the game? This is after 5-hours-a-day, every day, for the last 10-months. Are you suggesting this is a co-incidence? No, it's not . It's a reward for effort. I'm not disputing that RNG can play a part, but it's not as big a part as you imply. You mentioned the Husk of the Pit drop-rate, and yes, you couldn't get it for a while due to the Blades of Crota becoming extinct when the wolves began to prowl. Yes, you could go to Fist of Crota, but it wasn't dropping there either. Yes, there was feedback regarding this issue, as you rightly point-out, but the only reason this feedback was heeded was because Bungie want people to own Nechrocasm and Suros Regime for TTK. Most feedback is never heard, or even read, unless they decide it's relevant to their proposed agenda. That's not RNG, it's manipulation. Also, Gjally has been dropping a lot more lately, and people are surprised, but I'm not. I picked both the increase drop-rate, plus the sale weeks ago, and consider it pre-meditated manipulation, not RNG. Perhaps I'm a cynic, but when a game plays you more than you play it, it's time to call it quits. Which is what I did a month ago. I do wish you well though, because I'm not angry anymore.

  • It is still RNG, the reason for all your friends having all weapons is the time put into the game. It is the only surefire way to beat RNG odds. Like you said, 5 hours a day for 10 months is more than enough to ''brute force'' your way through low odds. But being honest here and keeping in mind this is just my opinion now... Aren't those hours a little too excessive for the amount and type of content in the game? I think it is. And its a shame people are actually expected to play that much to overcome bad odds on the loot table. Now going back to your response, Xur is in essence a pressure release mechanism as far as the game goes since it provides an alternative for those getting burned by bad luck. It is very likely as you suspect, deliberately controlled by Bungie staff to respond to criticism of the RNG. Otherwise a lot more people would have left much sooner. Still the core game is 100% chance Xur and the other stuff you mentioned are just measures to manage player disappointment as far as game design goes since none of it happens in the game proper it all happens at separate and safe areas like the tower.

  • Well put. But I'm a gaming junkie who is 45, and have been playing them since I was 6. Your brute-force analogy is a good one, but if you want everything in the game, then you'll have to do it too. But I loved the grind, not because I'm a hoarder, but because it was so damn good. The drops just occurred by playing it 'excessively' as you put it. I don't begrudge anyone buying Exotics from Xur - I've done it - and if you log in when he's around, then I say that's reward for effort too. You sound like a student of the game, but I want you to become a hardcore junkie whose life capitulates around them, because Destiny becomes so epic. A bit of a joke, but a bit of truth in there, too. Bungie need to make this game the only one people ever want to own, but it seems they're hell-bent on self-sabotaging that lofty ambition. Look at World of Warcraft. My goodness, that thing is immense, and has been outselling everything for 12-years.

  • I think the same too, they sounded like they wanted to make people buy into the game for the long haul but continuously shot themselves on the foot as far as realizing the vision. I really wanted this game's universe to last much longer but not like it currently is. I will keep an eye on it and perhaps in 6 to 8 months the changes will be good enough to warrant a second chance. I just wished it was a fraction of what WoW was, I spent years on that one and at times this games shows glimmers of that same immersive quality WoW had but it just can't seem to follow through and deliver because of some boneheaded design choice. I wish that they were a bit more honest and switched to paid subscription. I think most people would be cool with it if it meant much more content, more regularly.
