Can everyone who plays control and doesn't actually even attempt to capture the points please -blam!- off and go to play clash. You aren't needed or wanted here. Most of my matches end up as losses because 4 people on my team just constantly like to sit in one place or run around the map not caring about the control points meanwhile I'm trying to capture one and get bombarded by 3+ of the enemy team. You can't win a control game simply by getting kills you need to capture the points too you -blam!-ing dipshits
It's pissing me off, the enemy end up having 2 or 3 points the whole game because no one is even attempting to regain them. Why should I be getting losses because of 5 dickheads who can't understand the game type.
After about 6 games I finally played a game where I got people who actually knew how to play! woohoooo. Easy win of 20,000 to 10,000 because they halped in capturing the points. It makes a huge difference. I feel bad for the guy on the other team who was in my situation trying to capture them with only 1 other teammate.

5 Repliesi see it like this. Im a, lets say, not so good PvP player, and i have a different role on the team than the one that is better in killing then me. Personally i want the good players to make as many points (kills) as possible for my team, the more zones we have the more points he can make. So....as im obviously not so good in killing stuff, i try to capture the zones FOR HIM to make more points. I dont want this good guy to wast his time standing on a zone, hes better on the battleline and kill, while i patrol between 2 zones to make sure they are always capped and support him in his kill streaks. In return the good guy makes sure the enemy doesnt brake through the battle line and comes to get me. its a win win. i make sure the zones are secure and contribute passively, while the other player contributes with active killing.

2 RepliesEdited by Dead General X: 6/11/2015 11:10:41 AMLol. You can just win an entire game with just one control point only and only having that the entire game. I can get the most point killing. This isn't COD or Battlefield where you continuously get points for keeping control. I've won a few games where we just kept one control point and held everyone off and easily won. The only reason for that was we had people who knew what they were doing and not running around getting killed trying to take all 3 cuz they probably came from the COD world of thinking. No. Sometimes the smarter thing to do is just to keep one control point and have everyone together as a team and not split apart. So you have it all wrong. You don't need to have the control points in Destiny to win. Actually you don't even have to take a single control point to win the game. What's deadlier and who will get the most points killing...a group of 6 skilled gamers around a particular area working together well to kill people who get too close or a group split up running around trying to kill 6 grouped up killers? This isn't COD. You just had idiot team members who didn't stick together

2 RepliesEdited by Ranked1intrials: 6/11/2015 5:56:29 PMNope you don't even need to capture two zones. Cap and Get zone kills at B and you'll win in like 5-10 minutes

9 RepliesAs a person that plays solo in iron banner most of the time this is my strategy. Be. The. Rock. What I mean by that is, you control the spawn. You do this by going to the area of the map that has the preferred zone. (Every map has one) The trick is, DONT CAP. if you do it too early it will alert the enemy and they will come for you. If you wait, as your teammates die, they will spawn around you. Only then do you take the zone, then retreat to the anchor position so the spawns don't flip.
-
I agree completely. The worst is on blind watch when you have B and C and for whatever reason people go to A. Then the spawn flips and you are f-ed.

Add me Guardian. This too is one of my gripes. Need to play with likeminded folks. GT: Gundanium Ace

You can hold one point and win. While running IB I was with a team of randoms on twilight gap. We spawned at A and held it for the entire game. Every once in a while someone would capture another point but it would immediately be lost. We were effectively pinned down by the enemy. About half way through the match most everyone just stayed at A and defended instead of feeding points to the other team. We won by 4500 points.

It's funny, control is the only one in partly ok in....just cause I usually just run around trying to take control instead of going after other players. I always score lowest, but meh. I don't care. It's about control!

Edited by Big_Zimm: 6/11/2015 10:49:32 AMYou can actually win a game of control without capturing any points. If you let the other team cap two points while not letting them get the third, as well as not capping it yourself, you can win. You need a full team of 6, because obviously someone will try and capture the third point if they're not in on what you're doing. It's a lot of fun if you can find 5 friends to do it with.

when i get 9k points without a single capture and your scrubass still manages to lose, im pretty sure i've done my part

Don't tell me how to live my life.

This. And it's funny when the game starts and I'm the only one running for B and I shake hands with about 3-4 guys form another team there (asylum and twighlight gap especially). If you loose B on asylum - it's blam!ing hard to get it back, some just can't get it. Another thing - quitting the game in the middle should have some penaties - like 15 min ban from crucible for example. I'm tired of running in 4-person team against 6, even if we are winning. And to all these scrubs that quit - I've joined to MANY games with 3-4k difference between my and winning team and we still WON. Want to play as individual cowboy? Go do the daily mission.

It is frustrating. All I can suggest is join a group. Find some people you like in that group and play with them. Taking a full fireteam to Control is brutal. Not telling you "how to play" but it worked for me.

10 RepliesEdited by OWNINGCUPIDO: 6/11/2015 10:26:39 AMGet a fireteam together, take A or C first and then B, and keep 3 at each point. Let em come to you, easy win all the time

It's our fault you can win?

What's control?

I've settled into more of a defense role. Capture then find a strategic defense point. I'd rather die holding off a node then running in between nodes farming kills. Any time your grouped with like minded players you will most likely win.
-
I will capture the first point and mostly depend on my teammates to capture the rest of the points while i slaughter the enemy

1 ReplyControl teams should have defenders and slayers, problem with all the randoms is they think their slayers when they have 10 kills and a .9 K/D
-
6 RepliesRan into this over and over in IB while playing with randoms. Yes, I guess it would be possible to win with enough kills but I never saw it happen. It's rage inducing to see the sniper who camped in the back of the map for the whole game finish with 2 kills.

1 ReplyEh. I wish control was meant to be played like that....however no points are awarded for controlling zones.....just points per kill increase. So if a team is good enough, they can capture one flag and then just beat ass.....and win. I hate it and only play it during iron banner.
-
You can win a match holding 1 point the entire time. It's not likely since there's always a few window lickers somehow managing to go 5-20 each game, but it's very possible if you lock down your flag. Most teams will just constantly run in and feed you kills.
-
Actually, you CAN win with only kills. I've done that a few time with a party of friends; didn't capture a single zone (not even at spawn) and still more than doubled their score :P Look, I'm not saying capturing zones is a bad thing. Obviously it's not. But if you see you're the only one going for an objective? Hang back a bit. Don't just rush in if you know you're going to get smashed. Remember, if you don't die the enemy doesn't get points, no matter how many zones they've captured. A pointless death with no zone captured and you raging at teammates that can't hear you does nothing. Try to make the best of a bad situation. If you see them moving up, support them. If they hang back, do so too.
