Ok I'm going to lead by saying F that boss. And yes I'm kind of angry. The dev who created that fight and thought it was fair needs to get a paycut....the he needs to be fired....then thrown into the mouth of a volcano. I have many quarrels with this boss fight and I will explain them here.
1. It's borderline impossible if you don't have at least 2 lvl 34s and I NEED to run that to GET to 34...how is that fair?
2.the amount of hobgoblins are BLAMing stupid...I wouldn't mind if there were more goblins or harpys but with the amount of hobgoblins and axis hobgoblins in the map, you can leave cover for more than 2 seconds...AND if that weren't bad enough, those hobgoblins get brave and run up on you all the time....
3. The eye of Qodron: this mechanic is respectable on its own...if it were reliable.... Sometimes he will wander the opposite side of the map where you are and force your entire team to wipe......then sometimes he will just show up late...he needs to be worked on.
4. the detainment field: this field on top of tanking ridiculous damage, kills you SO FAST. Either it needs to do less damage to you or take less damage to break...
5. (The least important point) Qodrons splash damage: qodron will splash you through 2 blocks of cover and from 2 meters behind you. This is easily the least important point but combined with all of the above, it make it EXTREMELY hard to find time to DPS qodron without getting wrecked by hobgoblins or finding the Eye...
I will never do this boss fight unless I'm 34. Maybe not even then...guess I have to wait next week to get to 34 ;-;
My rant is over....feel free to tell me your thoughts on the boss fight. I understand the "get good" and "you're bad" comment are coming but this fight literally unfair garbage
Edit: thanks for almost 200 comments!
Edit 2: 400 comments guys! Thanks for all the feedback!
Edit 3: 600! You all are so great! Thank you

Load up seven gally rockets and have a sunth ready have 2 others do the same nuke him profit
-
I know exactly how you feel. I already have 3 34's and have gotten over 14 etheric light... but me and my team actually tried to beat this boss the right way for over 2 hours... we gave up, and then used the Gjallarhorn strat. Got him 1st try, within 20 seconds. Its a shame that weapon solves every problem in destiny.
-
Took us 20 seconds to kill him. We drowned him in wolfpack rounds.
-
2 hunters and a 1 warlock it took us 30 seconds tops. He's not that hard man.
-
It took my team what, 10-15 minutes to figure out and then we cleared it with no problems, it really isn't that bad
-
we did manage to do it legit without gally's, but we were also 3 34s. We had one hunter maintain invisible almost all the time going after eyes and being on detain detail. We then had the other two focus on DPS and just frankly staying alive. When the hunter had jailbreak and we saw the searching message, we all crouched and huddled over on the extreme right by the pile of big rocks. it gave at least moderate cover from the hobgoblins. Also, right after jailbreak we usually launched a rocket or two (any rocket will do) into the crowd of enemies that were gathering around us...
-
I did it with a Titan with gally and warlock with gally. Used a bubble with blessing they shot there rockets then used heavy and shot again while I shot 10 dragons breath rockets. And he was down right as he imprisoned us. We would have died but I had golden gun with nighthawk and got out to win
-
Well i have only two problems with it ,one the reliability of the eye. Many times we've been encased in the containment field with no eye in sight, kinda not fair and speaking of unfair getting teleported out of the containment not cool Bungie. And i do believe some tweaking is needed i don't think its cool that in order to do this in a decent time frame you need either a combo's of Gally's and/or 34's. If they'd fix the eye to be more agressive in finding players, stop teleport while in containment fields it would still be a good REALISTIC challenge IMO.
-
Bubble, weapons..once all 3 of u r empty, run to the left. Have a hunter use Golden Gun to break the shields.. Warlocks self respect...after, about 10 ghallys and that's it...less than 5

Anyone do this fight and last week to compare? I did urox or we his name is last week, 2 33s and a 34 Once we had a good strategy and some practice we got it Also, considering it only takes 1 run as a 33 on 34 to get to lvl 34, and u can pass etheric light around, getting characters to max level is much quicker than last time
-
I'm going to be completely honest with you, I have no idea how the mechanics work in this fight because my team went in with 3 maxed gjallarhorns with heavy synthesis ready to be used and unloaded into Qodron's sorry mechanical ass. We killed him before any of the fight's mechanics could go into play.

3 RepliesIt's hard initially but after a few hours we were able to beat him. I've seen a lot of posts about the difficulty of the level 34 and 35 bosses. Guys, these are nothing compared to how hard Atheon and freaking hard Crota was. I spent 8 hours on Atheon once and still didn't beat him when the VoG was first released. Once we have the full roster and modifiers for bosses figured out they will be as easy as normal Crota is now.

3 RepliesEdited by Pls Don’t Hurt Me: 5/28/2015 3:22:19 PMConstructive feedback incoming: 1. Yes, I do admit that 34 is beneficial to the team for this boss fight. But you only NEED one. 2. This particular 34 should be focusing fire on the boss, while you scout out the location of, as my fire team is fond of calling him, shiny. 3. Disregard two if you want to play it safer, having both the lower levels focus damage on the boss while the 34 exclusively deals with shiny. Remember here that timing is important so you want to wait as long as possible to actually kill shiny. Just be aware that this method will take longer than would be from point 2 4. Rockets and excessive heavy ammo synths help. Honestly, what else would we have to use it on if not this? Rockets over time will be more helpful that any primary or secondary. 5. With that said, still remember to equip a sniper rifle or shotgun. Either the enemy will be far, or he'll be an annoying bastard and get right up in your face. Be prepared for either outcome. 6. On the topic of sniper rifles, have the designated jail breaker (have one and only one jail breaker) equip (preferably) the Ice Breaker. This got me and my team out of the bubbles in seconds. (I was the jail breaker). You have, and you should time this fight out, 30 seconds before the shiny should be killed after each broken bubble. 7. Location. I highly, highly, recommend going left immediately and following the path all the way down as it curves right. It's a bit of a cove there and you need only worry about two directions of enemies, and they don't usually rush you here. Also a bonus, shiny likes this area for some reason so he'll usually come to you. 8. Class abilities: I don't know what character you prefer but I highly recommend two titans and one hunter. I golden gunned to get orbs for the titans. The titans bubbled to give me weapons and blessing so I could go out and kill shiny. It also let them safely do more damage to boss man so it's a bonus. If you can go with these classes. I'll add more later since I've got to go, but you get the idea. It definitely took us some time to get the routine down but once we did get it down everything was fine.

5 Replieshttps://youtu.be/RMCBVCtNp_k I'm sorry we made it look so easy :( I think you only need one 32 run and 2 34 runs, then use the extra etheric thing on the same character and voila, 34 :) then you can complete the same mission until you level up the same character. Regarding the boss, we use gjallarhorns but I think at least one and two hungers of crota or the vog rocket launcher could do the same, idk, just make sure you have 14 rockets available, 7 to start and another 7 after reloading :) good luck
-
We did it with 1 34 and 2 33s. You need 1 guy with ice breaker constantly doing damage, 1 guy to take care if hobgoblins, and the 34 takes care of the eye for max jail breaker damage. Oh and go on the left side, the eye will spawn more frequently over there. Hope this helped!

Use Super Good Advice on containment shield. That alone will make battle more enjoyable. Have other 2 players focus qudron while 1 is earning jailbreak with Super Good Advice. This method is awesome if everyone doesnt have gallys. Also move to far left corner and stay together.

Edited by contra_reality: 5/28/2015 3:24:11 PMThe hardest part is getting used to the mechanics and coming up with a strategy that works for you. Once we figured that out it wasn't that hard. My group ran one of each character, we had a sniper focus on the boss while the other 2 cleared mobs and focused the eye guy. Once the eye was spotted we had a dedicated person take the jailbreak. Gjallarhorns were better used on the mobs while sending the occasional rocket towards the boss to help the sniper. We found it best to go to the right corner and pop a bubble to the left of us to give some protection from snipers and brave mobs that occasionally like to come up to from the hallway. A lot of people use the gjallarhorn + weapons of light strategy but you'll waste a lot of time charging your supers and syncing your heavy synths, plus you run into a good chance the detainment bubble wipes your team just before or just after you kill the bastard.

Killed him and got the elder cipher :)
-
Woah... A challenge?... In Destiny?...... NERF!
-
TLDR: get gud
-
Not even hard beat him second try.
-
1 ReplySomebody can't handle a challenge
-
1 ReplyGet a crew of three guys with gjallarhorn and 1 guy with wep of lights. Start it with 7 ghorn shots. As soon as you get in, shoot him. Then take a synth and shoot another 7 If everyone does that, you'll be able to kill him before messing around with the shield shit.
-
5 Replies34 doesn't make it easier btw
-
34 still did it w bubble max ghorns. Tried legit for an hr. Said f this
