my Qodron rant....
Ok I'm going to lead by saying F that boss. And yes I'm kind of angry. The dev who created that fight and thought it was fair needs to get a paycut....the he needs to be fired....then thrown into the mouth of a volcano. I have many quarrels with this boss fight and I will explain them here.
1. It's borderline impossible if you don't have at least 2 lvl 34s and I NEED to run that to GET to 34...how is that fair?
2.the amount of hobgoblins are BLAMing stupid...I wouldn't mind if there were more goblins or harpys but with the amount of hobgoblins and axis hobgoblins in the map, you can leave cover for more than 2 seconds...AND if that weren't bad enough, those hobgoblins get brave and run up on you all the time....
3. The eye of Qodron: this mechanic is respectable on its own...if it were reliable.... Sometimes he will wander the opposite side of the map where you are and force your entire team to wipe......then sometimes he will just show up late...he needs to be worked on.
4. the detainment field: this field on top of tanking ridiculous damage, kills you SO FAST. Either it needs to do less damage to you or take less damage to break...
5. (The least important point) Qodrons splash damage: qodron will splash you through 2 blocks of cover and from 2 meters behind you. This is easily the least important point but combined with all of the above, it make it EXTREMELY hard to find time to DPS qodron without getting wrecked by hobgoblins or finding the Eye...
I will never do this boss fight unless I'm 34. Maybe not even then...guess I have to wait next week to get to 34 ;-;
My rant is over....feel free to tell me your thoughts on the boss fight. I understand the "get good" and "you're bad" comment are coming but this fight literally unfair garbage

8 RepliesNot to sound elitist but you do not need to run this to get to 34. If you ascended an Exotic (preferably a helmet) as soon as the DLC came and then ran 32 and 34 for the armor and etheric light the first week, then ran 32 for armor again this week you are 34. You may not have done all that but its certainly possible to be 34 before even attempting The Forever Eater. Having said that, I went into both runs I've done so far as a 33. I've posted my strat several times in the past few days but here it is again. Run all the way left at the start. You will come to a wall with crates on your right. This is your safe zone. Forget Gally, all three of my team have this and we didn't use it. Use Ice Breaker and a legendary rocket launcher. Dump all your rockets into Qodron and then snipe his crit spot with IB. You are mostly safe from the adds in this zone, though the hobgoblins will lob grenades over the crates at you and every few minutes one sneaks around the back side. Stay alert and you'll be fine. Keep an eye out for the Eye of Qodron. I found it helpful to back up to the poles a few feet before the cover spot to look for the Eye. You can shoot his head off if he's too far away. This will put any goblin into Jihad mode and he will charge your position, thus making him easy to find and kill. Group together when you see the "looking for targets" message so that all of your shields are within easy reach of your Jailbreaker. Use IB, a shotgun or HMG to shoot your way out. Hunters can also use Golden Gun. As always, communication is key. Call out when a hobgoblin pushes your safe zone and when you spot the Eye. Make sure at least one person is always doing damage to Qodron, whether rockets or sniper. Since you don't have to do much add management in this spot, its pretty easy to have all three people sniping/rocketing him at once. It took us a few hours to refine this strategy the first run-through but we nailed it first try on the second. Hope this helps.

this is nothing compared to skolas this week POE makes the raids look easy. it's a fun challenge if you have the right gear and are a strong player if you're not...it would suck not sure bungie made a wise financial decision with this difficulty. a LOT of people won't have a chance in hell at dropping him

I thought this boss was hard also, but if you have a titan and heavy synth, it's not much harder than the boss on round 1 Didn't get contained untill after he was dead

Just finished it with a 33 it was rough but knowing who has jailbreaker is key. Stay in a corner with cover and focus on adds and one rocket from a 34 should kill the eye. Once we figured that out it was much easier.

I've joined multiple groups just to help them finish and as soon as a simple strategy gets put into action its done in one attempt. Sorry dude but you're doing it wrong.

The fight wasn't too bad once we got the mechanics and roles figured out. We did only have one 33 though. We went left, as most people suggest. I mainly was looking for the eye, and tried to always be the one who killed it. We all bunched together and i used a LMG to take down the shields. The other two guys also kept shooting, and the shields go down pretty quick. I would hit adds when looking for the eye, and the boss during down moments. One guy mainly focused on the boss and the 33 cleared adds mostly, sniping the boss when it was clear. Once we got into a rhythm it went smoothly. Not easy, but pretty smooth. If you only have one 34, I would probably have that person do the shields. They will take it down faster, so everyone stays alive. Will take longer, but the 33s just need to keep chipping away at the boss and you can get there eventually.

Not trying to sound snarky, but it's actually pretty easy. Only took my team and I about 4 tries and he was vanquished. I actually enjoy the fight and all the mechanics. It's a nice challenge.

1 ReplyIt's actually pretty easy. If you have a Titan and a Warlock and Hunter with three Gjallarhorn you can use Blessing of light and just hammer the shit out of the boss. Just watch King Gothalion ' s video with this boss. It's a super cool strategy.

It's nearly impossible to kill them without getting killed first if you don't have heavy ammo. And the ammount of snipers in general are a bit over the top. And the Eye sometimes wandering around mindlessly seriously is annoying and forces a wipe. That should not be the case.

11 RepliesEveryone here says "use 3 gjallys"... What if you don't have a Gjally? Can't be done? Like Skolas last week... I was getting booted from lfg groups because I didn't have one. Being 34 didn't matter. My ToO emblem didn't matter. My 365 VOC didn't matter. My 365 Dragons Breath didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was having Gjallarhorn. Good one #Bungie.

I didnt find it to hard once you have a strat and work together. Bungie said they want to challenge people. I dont understand how you are level 33 still and complaining unless you spent etheric light on weapons rather than to get to 34.

I beat this fight twice, first the left strat where you kill eye and 1 person shotguns detainment bubbles and the second time we sprayed him with 3 full gallys plus synths both ways where not only fun but also not that hard P.S GOT MY EXOTIC BOUNTY :)
