Ok so I was just on earth, patrolling, then event comes up, kill captain no one else around and I instantly thought to myself "not gonna happen" but I tried anyway, but then got 2 shorted by his fricken shotgun bs... Wtf was that shit, and his shield Id take that down using a full mag of 306 damage heavy ammo... Just for it to go shooting back up when I reloaded...
You need to lower the difficulty on these enemies depending on how many people are around because trying to kill that bastard with one person is just impossible... It's not hard really is it you manage it in story missions do it in patrols as well coz I am sick to death of not being able to do event simply because practically no one patrols anymore unless there's a bounty for it or if you need to kill 3 blades...
FIX IT!!!
Edit: thanks to all actually giving advice and getting the fact that it is fairly hard if you dont have the right weapons with you... And for all those calling me a noob, ive been playing since beta... Hardly a noob

I actually like Kill Target and Vex Sacrifices. It feels like a real PUBLIC Event. Sometimes I wish Excavation Crews was harder, as I don't deserve the same reward for events that are quite different in difficulty. In my opinion, Fallen Walkers in public events should have more health. Excavation crews could have additional waves, defend the warsat could be made with a lot more enemies. I usually go to earth for my public events because there are a lot more to do and they occur a lot more often. These "harder" PE's could be venus or mars exclusive.. but then the public events take so long In between to happen or happen in fewer areas.... Just a thought

5 RepliesThere's a reaver vandal on forgotten shores with an ABSURD health bar. Did Bungie add an extra 0 by accident?

The best way to do it alone is from far away with a solid rocket launcher, preferably one with the correct elemental damage and one that locks on, once you need to reload your launcher, switch to a sniper and light him up.

1 ReplyThe last few times I have ran across that event the minions of Crota showed up at the same time. Go get the sword first then take out the captain with the sword...easy.
-
Not really. They can be solo'd - the problem is if you're not geared correctly for it you can't solo it. If you get Kill Minotaur, and you don't have void weapons - you're just not going to do it solo.

3 RepliesI still think the most difficult pve character to kill is that major by the cave near the map change toward the Sepiks strike on Forgotten Shores, Earth that has completely absurd stats. I dumped all of my ammo into him (max heavy included) and he still had over half health. He's like level 8 and takes longer to kill than a raid boss. Ridiculous...

It is a broken level system. Here is where the levels are significant: - If you are at a lower level than your enemy That is it. The paradigm they have set up makes it possible for level 6 ultras to rip level 30+ players apart in no time. And the stupid part is, you get no real advantage over the lower enemy mobs except for defense, but those numbers literally inch their way up, so we will need the comet DLC before there is any real significance there... Look at it this way: a level 20 ultra will do relatively the same amount of damage to a level 20 guardian that it would do to a level 30 guardian. The only real change would be a percentage point or two depending on your defense rating. HOWEVER, a guardian at level 20 shooting that same level 20 ultra will have the same damage output as a level 30 guardian with the same weapons. There is no increase in damage output based on light level - there is only a damage reduction if you are below the said enemy. So lets say you are in the VoG, and facing Praetorians (level 27). If you are level 26, you get a 25% damage reduction against them. Level 25 is 50%. Level 24 is 75%. Level 23's are just seeing the word "immune" whenever they pull the trigger (if they were allowed in to begin with). Level 27 guardians get no reduction, but also do not really get a defense bonus. Level 28 guardians do the same damage as a level 27. Level 29's damage is scaled down to level 27's, and so on. Bungie designed this so you are always scaled down to the enemies you fight, and your enemies are always scaled up to meet you. That is why a low level ultra is such a pain - it is literally being brought up to your current level.

While i could be mean i will say the targeting on these adds sometimes is nuts especially when doing urzok while the enemy is moving against each other.
-
Lol. Really? The struggles are real. Lmao step your game up noob

Edited by GreyPooponya: 1/23/2015 2:32:50 PMThey need to time public events to occur more likely when 2 or more are around. I've done some of these epic shielded targets solo, but only with the right weapons ready to go with good distance between final checkpoint and little probs from adds. It's more often excruciating.
-
If I can solo that event, there is nothing wrong with the difficulty.
-
He whole point of public events is to have people joining together to defeat the enemy. Believe me, I get your frustration. Also, when you're taking down those enemies, you have to use the element their shield is to take it down fast, and you have to keep hitting them or their shields regen, that's why it's helpful to have more than 1 person. Blue shields use arc, red shields use solar, and purple shields use void, it'll melt their shields.
-
The mothyards? An arc plug one and a handful of ghallarhorn rockets do the trick quite well.
-
4 RepliesIf the target has a shield forget it. It's pretty much impossible to solo. There's also a few that spawn that don't have shields. Those are possible to solo if you can crank out the damage.
-
Try 4th horseman on that dude - he doesn't like it.
-
I usually ignore those events unless I have a full fire team, or if there are at least 2 other players participating in it. But 99% of the time I ignore them.
-
whats in the water at forgotten shores... randal the vandal... and this jagoff
-
3 RepliesI solo them before and manage just fine...
-
3 RepliesJust ignore the events like most people do.

Each foe has a differnt weakness theat can be exploted if properly used. Fallen captians happen to be weaker to ark damage. Simply weaken his sheild and switch to whatever you feel like and unload upon his face, useing supers and granades as best as you can. As for being two hit... I always thought that the kill targets had the epic mod on them. Makes since to me but I could be wrong.

Edited by Racebum: 1/23/2015 10:44:41 AMi already knew you were talking about the captain on earth who spawns on the forgotten shore before i clicked this. one person really can't kill him unless they get really lucky. i blinded him with st14, arc fusioned him and dumped 7 gally rockets into that guy and he still ran to the end. it's not just his health. he just runs non stop giving you roughly 1 minute max to kill him. he is the hardest kill of all the planets and patrols for a single enemy
