How do you play your Hunter

For both sub classes I focus on speed. for melee abilities i pick the one that gives the greatest likelihood i will be able to use it again soon. for the super i pick the one that either explodes or does the path of destruction. then the remaining stuff: gunslinger i use the buff skills and blade dancer i use speed and encore. if you have a hunter you'll know the skills i'm referring to. I use the hand cannon mostly(trying to level the ar i got from the x-mas gift). but then switch up the special for the type of combat the i feel is appropriate. I like sniping but find myself using shorter range specials more frequently. How do you guys use your hunters? How do you equip them? I always saw the hunter as a damage dealer and an offensive class. do you guys use it the same way? Something tells me i would like the titans offensive nature. thoughts? Edit: I've been tinkering with all these different builds. There are so many utilities that you guys pointed out. the invis skills create a saving grace for strikes and raids that i never made use of. i personally mostly used offensive skills. this changes the whole way i look at my hunters blade dancer. most people said the same sorta thing for gunslinger ;) Edit: Here's another one. For hunter or any class for that matter, is there use in doing a half/half or should your builds be polarized to a certain style. keeping with the hunter theme. an invisible build, obviously excesses in stealth. compare this to a offensive build centered around a destructive arc blade run. would it be a disservice to the hunter to cherry pick some from both builds to not be super offensive but not be super stealthy? it almost feels like you become so diluted that you can't do either particularly effectively and would have to mostly rely on gunplay. This being an fps that is fine to focus on gunplay but it semi feels like throwing the abilities to the waist side. thoughts?

Gunslinger- chain of woes and gunslingers trance ( reloads my Fatebringer instantly almost with outlaw on too..) w/ tripmine grenades is an awesome combo in pve and pvp ... Bladedancer- all invis perks on and arcbolt grenades..- only use this subclass in pve where invis is necessary to revive fallen teammate from a bad spot or in crota raid at deathsinger..I never use bladedancer in pvp anymore..have way more fun using the gunslinger class

  • I never use Blade Dancer. I've always been a Gunslinger since day one. I personally believe it is better. So many more defensive and offensive capabilities with that Subclass.

I use mine for a decent amount of hit and run. I snipe alot, and midrange fights with thorn. The ability and blink allows me to evade while they tick to death with poison when out in the open. High recovery means during most fights since thorn stops them from regenerating, we both get hurt, their shield is still down and at near death around the time my health regens. Combine that with arcbolts nades which are pretty decent at getting people in cover and things tend to go well. Speaking of which I need to get my lucky raspberry upgraded lol. Blade dancing super I use the invisibilty perk and try to flank people. You go off radar when your invisible to I try to activate it when players are grouped up and I can flank them.

        • bladedancer: focus on recovery and agility, all about that melee cool down and self heals. if I'm on a strike then I'll sometimes swap everything out for maximum invisibility uptime, particularly if light switch is active. Don't Touch Me is next on my list of Xurchases for him gunslinger: haven't got as much experience with it, so this is mostly speculation. armor and agility to keep myself in the fight as long as possible. chain of woe and gunslingers trance with The Last Word. unflinching hip fire, split second reload. kill them before they touch me

          • I mostly use gunslinger. Gunslinger Loadout: Gunslinger's Trance Incendiary Blade x2 Throwing Knives Gunfighter (faster Golden Gun Cooldown) Incendiary Grenade Hand Cannon (currently using Thorn) Sniper Rifle ( currently using maxed Longbow Synthesis 09) any heavy (MG18A Harm's Way or Gjallarhorn for Raids) Bladedancer Loadout: Shadowjack Encore Blink Strike cooldown (blink strike can be used literally every 2 seconds with this perk) Lightning Grenade. same weapons for both Subclasses, but I equip Don't Touch Me gauntlets for Bladedancer ( go invisible when melee attacked, perk is boosted by Shadowjack!)

                    • I run everything invisibility with Blade Dancer, even use Don't Touch Me and is my preferred out of the two classes. Gun Slinger is pretty balanced toward everthing like melee, super and weapon buffs.

Gunslinger is way more fun to me and I play it almost exclusively now except for the first part of Crota's End so I'll just comment on that. For PvE play: You definitely want Combustion for your Golden Gun, no question. Can really dish out some great damage when you want to take down groups of enemies quickly. Next, Knife Juggler is without a doubt your best option. This will allow you to basically negate any need for Strength on your gear since you can just keep getting new knives via headshots. Now the 2 nice stackable buffs, Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance, will completely be dependent on what weapon you prefer to use. If your weapons already have amazing reload (Fatebringer / Bad Juju) and/or stability (VoC) then you can pass up on those talents and further buff your Golden Gun with Keyhole and Over The Horizon for some serious killing power when combined with the earlier choice of Combustion. Lastly, the attributes perks are really up for debate and depend on your style. I used to roll with Recovery and Agility as high as I could but recently have started to go back toward using more Armor. Just takes some tweaking and to cater to how you like to fight. Edit: I provide my team with a ton of orbs with this build guide and almost always lead in kills. Obviously personal skill and practice will come into play but it definitely works for me. Don't be afraid to mix and match as well. Sometimes I only need Chain of Woe but not Gunslinger's Trance, etc.

                        • Strangely enough I play my hunter just like my Titan and Warlock, I just jump more. I typically don't spam supers, use my grenades all that often, or even melee unless I am close to death and need to clear a path out of danger. Most of the time I'm all for straight up gunplay: shoot it in the face till it's dead and move on.

                        • I play mine like a tank. Fearless, successfully revive teammates in the even the sh-ttiest of situations, and waxing enemy a-s in PVE like I'm getting paid to do it. I don't use invisibility, not even when reviving fallen teammates.

                        • Gunslinger: Tripmine Grenade Better Control Combustion Circle of Life Path Unknown Gunslinger's Trance Way of the Fearless Chain of Woe Gunslinger's about guns, not abilities. You want to win the gun fights, and be the better gun user. Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance increase weapon Stability and Reload up to three times on precision kill. This will make you the better gun user. Armor will help you make the gun fight go better. With Recovery coming second. Path Unknown and Way of the Fearless will bring up your Armor and Recovery. Throwing Knives have no place in a gun fight, and conveniently, one of the optional perks for them has a secondary modifier to Armor, Circle of Life. Your Grenade, Jump modifier, and Super modifier are u to your discretion. But the guns are where it's at.

                          • Completely agree hunters are damage, so they should be spawning orbs. Gunslinger: I love using a Monte build for this because it works even without it. Exotics: Monte Carlo and achy Trip mine grenade to down the most enemies in one since achy gives more super from that. Higher double Knife juggler with Monte Carlo and accuracy, you'll be knifing all day long. This also leads into chain of woe and gunslinger trance with the precision kills. Combustion because -blam!-ing orbs! Training in all Gunslinger trance or key hole, I bounce between these two Agility focus Chain of woe, run out of ammo quick knife knife knife insane reload. Bladedancer: Invisibility. That's about it.
