I EARNED my Ice Breaker, ABSOLUTELY must read.
Oh, congratulations Christmas noobs and Bungie. Destiny is dead. I quit.
Do you know what I had to go through to get my Ice Breaker?
Firstly I had to start Crota's End. It required moving a cursor to the exact spot, not exactly easy. THEN, I had to stand on a plate for 30 seconds to form a bridge. Thirty ... three oh. Stop and count that out, it's actually a long time. Then I endured a horrifying fall into the Hell Mouth. I couldn't see the ground or sky for about 10 seconds. And then there was the hardest part.
Get ready for it.
Make sure no young ones read this, it might give em nightmares.
THEN, I had to walk to the first chest. It was pitch black. The "weight of darkness" rose to a bone chilling 5. It was as dark as the bowels of loneliness and there were thrall all around ... well, none attacked me but I COULD hear them, and they sure sound scary. After walking about 30 meters through that gauntlet of nightmarish fear, I held X for what seemed like forever for a chest to open.
Then I got - nay - EARNED - my Ice Breaker (well, my second one, I bought my first of Xur - shhhh). It was damn hard work! It was so scary I'm still seeing a therapist about it. But the main point is ... I forget, but I know Bungie ruined the game.
I quit.

Edit 2: obligatory calling attention to the fact this is thread is trending - in a somewhat vain - yet giddy - tone like I'm receiving a prestigious award and not just a video game forum (stopping just short of thanking God and everyone who supported me).
Edit 3: sudden inflated ego fuels superiority complex, morphing into faux-activism as I begin calling for people to rally, and bump so we can get Bungie to hear our voices!

Buys from xur Who is more "entitled" to gun? Side note: this was copied from my post on a different thread about the same thing. You kids and entitled bull shit attitudes :-/

Edited by duewhaa: 1/19/2015 3:03:16 PMI earned my Icebreaker by completing the following steps: 1. Turn on PS4 (this step requires a PS4) 2. Read appropriate health and safety warnings. 3. Insert Destiny game disc in PS4 4. Start Destiny 5. Select character (titans work best for this method, I've learned) 6. Fly to Venus and complete the Archon Priest strike 3 times in a row. (more completions increase likelihood of this method being successful) 7. Hopefully, if this method works, you'll receive some green, blue or even purple engrams. This step is ESSENTIAL to obtaining Icebreaker. 8. Fly back to the tower and meet with Master Rahool. 9. Proceed to decrypt your newly acquired engrams. 10. If Icebreaker is not gifted to your guardian, proceed to Xur and buy it from him for x amount of strange coins. Hope this helps! [spoiler]Does anybody in this post read anything past the title? 4 RepliesI know what you mean. I "earned" my Gjallarhorn yesterday by killing some random Vandal while completing the Level 14 Nexus Strike as a Level 31 Warlock. Xur better not sell the Gjallarhorn again. If you casuals want it, you have to earn it like me - by killing some random Vandal during a Level 14 Strike.

I carried my team to victory and the game saw fit to reward my heroism with the almighty Icebreaker. Unfortunately for me, I had bought Icebreaker from Xur about an hour earlier and that Bastion game was ironically the first time I had whipped it out. But I earned the -blam!- out of those 2 Ascendant Energies.

Friend of mine got his as a chest reward from the 2nd chest in VoG which was pretty awesome...then Xur had it for sale the next day...it was kinda a mood-killer.

I've been looting and raiding since launch and have not yet been blessed by the rng gods.... So when I saw ice up on xur for the second time ( I passed on the first) HELL YEAH!

I got my first IB about 3 weeks ago from a nightfall. I then got my second from defeating the deathsinger. One week later Xur is selling it. Such a good weapon I am glad that other people now have it for raids/strikes.
