I've been called "bad," "scrub," and told to either quit the game or kill myself because of my Grimoire skill being disproportionate with my light level. But how in the world does it even acknowledge skill?

Edited by Chit Chat: 1/10/2015 11:22:04 PMIt's not about skill, but experience. I wanted to carry my girl through vog hard. We ended up going through 3 groups which all had their issues. One group barely talked. Even when I very kindly encouraged things like calling out Praetorians. None would say anything. On Gatekeeper Praetorians would constantly touch the sync plate causing an Oracle to spawn and my girl would be the only one shooting it while calling it out. During Atheon people would get teleported and just stare at oracles not shooting. When they finally did they'd be shooting the last two oracles from the starting point when you first get teleported. And would also not notice the first Oracle spawn above their heads. The best part was when I got teleported, grabbed the relic, we managed to kill all the oracles and we're about to come out and realized the wrong portal was opened. This was after I routinely shouted 3 times that we were on the left side. This happened literally two times in a row. All 3 groups were below 2000 grimoire. We decided to shout for a group with 2000+ grimoire. On the first group we beat Atheon in two portal runs like we were taking a nap. Decided to beat him again with alts and again beat him in two portal runs. It's about experience.

2 RepliesPeople say that all grimoire means is that you play more but that's not necessarily true. Do you realize how much Crucible you have to WIN (not just play) to have a high grimoire? It's a lot. Also means if a person has a really high score, they're probably played with all three classes and maxed subclasses which gives that person an advantage in combat because they know the best perk load outs and how they work giving a better idea of how to counter them. Better knowledge on enemies and the best way to take them down. Broad experience with most if not all weapons meaning running out of ammo of one weapon type won't matter because they'd be used to using all weapons. Most people go through games and crucible WAY too comfortable with only one type of weapon and suck with any other kind. Grimoire DOES equate to skill in some aspects but most of all EXPERIENCE which in some cases experience is more valuable than skill.

1 ReplyBecause people are constantly looking for reasons to be assholes?!

Sub 2000 means Christmas noob apparently... Or so I was told when I have achievements on my xblive account shortly after release... Had to wait on kids report card before I got the game. Yes dad may have benefitted from this buy lol

Edited by Stark: 1/11/2015 7:05:22 AMIt doesn't. And it doesn't necessarily signify experience either
-
It shows how much experience you have. People who have loads of raid completions have a grimoir score then people who haven't run it yet, for example.
-
It moreover signifies experience. For example, if you see a level 5 with a score of 2280, you know that that person is an alternate character and that the person is experienced in the game. If you see a level 5 with a score of 200, then it is safe to assume that they are new and don't know much about the game.

GS has nothing to do with skill.
close thread
-
it doesn't its pointless
-
Who said skill? I think it shows experience.
-
Grim pure Score is typically raised by doing things a number of times. Such as running multiple strikes, beating the raid, completing crucible matches, and using specific types of weapons to defeat enemies etc. It doesn't show skill, but it does help show how experiences you are.
-
Nope just acknowledges that you have played aloe really, in my opinion.
-
It doesn't.
-
It doesn't period. I have a lower grimoire score than some ppl that haven't played as much as I have but have simply done different things. Analyzing it, it looks like they've used diff classes/weapons, maybe they participate on PvP more frequently. I've never even bothered using a pulse rifle for example. It's most def not an indicator of skill.
-
I just hit 2700
-
I understand that some people equate it with experience or skill but it's false in more cases then it is true. I still have a sub 2000 score and anyone who has played with me knows I can kick ass. I think its more the elitist mindset that makes it matter but again, it's just my opinion.

High grimoire score means high playtime.
-
3 RepliesLol 1765 scrub. Stfu and gtfo no one likes you
-
It doesn't, grimoir is an indication of experience. You should make more characters and start playing some crucible... Scrub. Kappa
-
High Grimoir = High experience High experience usually equals high skill (not all the time... But definitely most of the time)
-
It doesn't. Whoever said it does is an idiot
-
4 RepliesGrim score is for kids who don't have a job and can't buy themselves real life shit to be proud about
-
LOL, it does not, it just displays how long you have been killing in most cases, and how well you follow guides to lost ghosts for others. Many gamers will use any stat they can find to pad their fragile egos. It stems from no IRL self worth beyond the console.
-
Grimoire=experience
-
Just shows how long you've been playing so everyone assumes the higher the number the better player you are, i find it rarely true
-
It shows you watched a lot of YouTube to find everything.
