coming from a WoW player...

I'm going to state this now, I haven't done either raid this is all from peer speculation. Having played WoW for 8 years I know about farming, and about RNG. Destiny however hasn't given me any problems with obtaining gear. I went from 20 to 24 in 3 hours. Which I know isn't very high but still getting gear in this game isn't much of a grind when you compare it to many other games with the same type of loot systems. Drop rates in WoW bottom out at 0.01% drop chance, getting raid gear in WoW takes months... and you need way more gear in WoW then in Destinty. So please when you're complaining about drop rates please realize its really not that bad. Also, quest like the Urn of Sacrifice that give a legendary after just 4 quest or so, In WoW legendary quest lines take weeks. those legendarys impact the game much more then those given for the Urn I know this but in comparison a rare in wow is much harder to obtain then in Destinty in all aspects. RNG is RNG keep raiding my friends... then you'll know the struggles of a weekly raider. not even going to go into difficulty differences.

  • WoW has larger expansions, more time between expansions, and armor doesn't determine your level. The fact that other games are even more grindy does not justify the grindiness of this game.

Dearest Thread Originator, When my eyes first glanced upon your rather eloquently worded treatise regarding this particular subject, it did not require much time, nay, dare I say it was in fact almost instantaneous that I was able to summarize that your post- though masterfully written with such quality that it may indeed rival the quintessential prose of authors such as Dostoevsky, Baldwin or perhaps even Joyce- was quite prolix; based upon the aforementioned conclusion, I resolved that I would exercise no more of my mental faculties in the act of comprehending the text that you had written. Sincerely, and wholly unequivocally yours, Wierzbowski Post Scriptum, In the future it would be most advantageous, not only for me but also the other members of this forum that you provide a brief summary of your text that emphasizes the more principle points of what you have composed. Post Post Scriptum, I would also like to make one additional comment if I may. It is in my humble and most earnest opinion that you are of the caliber of person whose taste appeals to prurient interests due to unassailable fact that you are a homosexual of the most flamboyant persuasion.

          • RNG sucks sometimes, but it always comes back around. I'm fine with it! I haven't got anything in 2 weeks from nightfall or raids... But I know I will eventually.

          • I really wish the drop rate was lower, but you were able to complete the raid more than once a week for rewards.

          • I think the drop rate is fine. People just want everything ASAP and don't want to play the game for it. I have over 16 days of play time and still haven't gotten the G'horn or ice breaker. Just the way it goes and look forward to the day I get them both, if that day ever comes.

            • 6 years on Shaiya. I'm also used to a heavy grind. Agreed Legends and Raid gear have a greater drop rate than any other P2P or F2P I've ever played. In that lies the problem. 90% of the legends, (short of raid sets) are commons. They are so common that what ends up happening is; instead of a minority of LeeTs we have a majority. Leaving a few stuck behind with only the RNG to hope for. And you know, once you're behind its hard to catch up. As of now the biggest complaint is content. Not so much that we don't have things to do, but the content available is clearly broken. And the grind is a joke. If you can hit level cap in 1 or 2 weeks and have maxed raid weps, something is seriously wrong. They fed us the steak before the appetizers, now we demand STEAK!!!

              • Yes! But.... In WoW you could raid an instance as many times as you wanted, whereas destiny = once/week.

                  • I'm in total agreement with you. I'm a former WoW player too. I would sit for months at a time with the same gear, and not getting any upgrades. The system Bungie has in place is a lot more friendly to those who only want to play an hour or so at a time. Personally I love it. Those who have no life and play 6-7 hours a day, powered there way to 30+ and are now crying about end game content need to take a look in the mirror... go outside and get some exercise for God's sake.

                    • I play Runescape and I agree drop rates are ridiculously high in this game... Some items are literally 1 in 1,000,000 chance from certain npcs. Ie how exotics should be from mobs.
I have 65K kills total and got a legendary engram that went into a MIDA from a level 6 dreg months back: like wtf? Too common. And 2 exotics from crucible.
• Know what wow doesnt have? Raid cheeses. You actually have to earn the good gear in arena or heroic raiding. Wish destiny would follow suit

Never played WoW but my close friend was hardcore to the bone. I totally agree with your post. Although I'd like to shine some light for you from my personal experience. I was an FPS player, not MMO, because of this I can understand that the majority of people here were the same. Hence our relationship with RNG is not as mature. My expectation for Destiny was based off previous Bungie titles (halo mostly). The people dealing with the luck or lack of have a right to be confused and emotional. That being said, destiny has taken the competitive mindset of halo and turned this game into a chill mindset. I used to moan about my bad RNG but now I realize its the only thing that kept me from stopping. There is ALWAYS something to get. Got my first VEX this week after months of raiding, then got it again on my second toon lol. I think my point is that RNG is a difficult style of gameplay to adjust to when you are used to skill over drops. In this game rewards don't happen for being skilled but are random and usually go to the weaker less hardcore players. Its like putting weeks of WoW time to get an epic drop then the guy who just bought the game and is raiding for the first time gets it instead of you. Sure you would be salty too. That being said, I don't see the point in people complaining on the forums either. All these " let us play the way we want to not how you want us to" complaints are a laugh. Times have changed, the new spoiled generation want everything given, when I was young we actually "earned" it. Dang I'm getting old.

                            • This post is complete bullshit. Youre comparing legendaries by name when in fact legendaries in wow are more so like getting an exotic bounty. Even then its so much easier to get the bounties than say getting thunderfury back in MC. Its not the same at all and getting epics in wow is just as easy in destiny... the .01% drop rates arent even close now considering everyone gets their own loot table in raids now, like in destiny. There is no -blam!-ing way you played wow for 8 years and raided at any rate of progression. Theres just no way, even after 10 and 25 man shared lock outs it didn't take months to get geared. Multiple bosses had the same loot tables if not for maybe a couple differences. Also if a raid only had 5 bosses that dropped loot there was also another raid for that tier. At times there were 3. If gear wasnt needed you could disenchant it to useful shards which were used for enchantment that could be sold or shared. All in all wows loot system was pretty rewarding, someone always got loot which helped your group. Unlike Destiny where your whole -blam!-ing group can get nothing but energy.

                                • I played WoW for about seven years myself although am not playing WoD and probably will not return to the game. I was in a raiding guild during all of BC and have done pretty much every raid/heroic under the sun. The thing about WoW is that you are not entirely dependent upon a drop rate. Sure, the raid drops aren't perfect, even with the personal loot system; I don't know how many times I got a loot drop that was something I already had. What WoW does have, that Destiny does not, are systems in place that allow you to accrue points/currency which you can ultimately trade in for the gear you want or need. For example: justice points, valor points, honor points, conquest, and so forth. Back in BC there were Badges of Justice, which you were guaranteed to get a certain number from any time you downed a raid/heroic boss. So even if you didn't get drops from the raids themselves, if you did them enough times you could use your currency to get the piece of gear you wanted, from one of several different vendors. Destiny sorta kinda has that system in place with vanguard marks and strange coins, but the problem is that the coins are mostly based on RNG drops, and the amount of marks you receive for PvE is really low unless you're doing the weekly heroics or nightfall. And the legendary quest lines in WoW are pretty terrible, that stupid cloak quest was misery squared.
