I see so many people speaking in technospeak as soon as the word PC pops up on a topic.
What does all of that even mean!?
Is there some sort of cohesive system to this or is everything gtx11736373819q98w7w727360noscopeignmlgkekRAM?
Help please
PS. Iwouldn't know any of this because my pc is from 2008.
Noscope is a term meaning you have killed somebody with a sniper rifle in a FPS without aiming through your scope. IGN is a game news and reviewing site. MLG stands for Major League Gamer and is not only the term used to described gamers who play in major league gaming competitions, but also a slang used to call somebody really good at games.

6 RepliesSure. Quick run down by a guy who really shouldnt be trying to explain this CPU. Computer(computing?) Proccesing Unit. Looks like a little square thing. basically the brains of the computer Motherboard AKA MoBo. All the shit goes into this thing. basicaly in connects all the parts together. Its the spine of the computer RAM (random access memory) Basically the short term memory of the computer. More means it can remember more things at once. GPU Graphics Prosseing Unit. or Graphics card. This it the thing that lets you play games in glorious 1080p PSU (Power Supply) It powers everything HDD or SSD Hard Disk or Solid State. You know what a Hard Drive is. I hope

Edited by LLoydizle: 1/7/2015 8:21:52 PMCPU - Central processing unit. Normally people mention their clock rates as 3.3 GHz (that's and example). That's 3.3 gigahertz or 3300 megahertz. A processor is normally used to well process things. It contains things called threads which allow for multiple tasks. Key requirement in programming. If you wish to "Talk" to your CPU directly, look at assembly programming like PEP or something. GPU - Graphical processing units (or graphic cards). Used a lot of rendering objects, particle effects, lighting, etc. The GTX you mentioned is an Nvidia GPU. RAM - Random access memory as it says, it allows for faster access of programmes to increase its performance. Used a lot in games and Video/Sound editing MOBO - motherboard. The mother of all computer parts. Holds everything together and allows the transfer of data between each hardware part. HARD DRIVE - I'm sure you know what that means. SSD - Solid state drive - basically a hard drive on crack since it does not use a disk format. PSU - power supply. Runs everything, but specific voltages/watts are required based on your hardware. Its all confusing at first cause manufacturers have some hyped names for them. If you look to know more, google "Toms Hardware". That site is a gold mine.

4 Replies2 years ago I was such a casual shut in gamer I didn't even know you could game on PC. Flash forward to today I have my own custom rig that I built myself and am damn proud of. Do the research yourself because only you can convert yourself to ascension

Edited by Mr Coco: 1/7/2015 4:43:19 AMA lot of computer parts just have super edgy names. A GTX is a Nvidia graphics card model, also called a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), which is a processor used usually by games for calculations related specifically for graphics. A good GPU plays a big part in a computer being able to run games on ultra settings. A CPU (Central Processing Unit) does all the computer's arithmetic. Think of it as the brain of the computer. GPUs are essentially there to take a massive chunk of work out of the CPU's hands, so it can focus on other computations.
