I think it's hilarious everyone who says dragons breath is bad.
It doesn't have tracking.
The solar grenade left doesn't last long enough.
It is too slow of velocity.
IT ISN'T BAD, YOU JUST DON'T HAVE SKILL. Any decent player could play with any set of maxed weapons and still be efficient.
Here's what Dragons Breath does have:
It does hold three shells in one clip.
It does have a bigger blast radius than any rocket launcher.
And it holds the most the rockets.
So you take your tracking, Wolfpack rounds, and 2 rockets per clip. I'll take 3 rockets per clip, an additional rocket in ammo capacity, a solar grenade, and a bigger blast radius any day.
"Burn the world, burn it all."
Edit 1: For those of you who continue to say gjallarhorn is better than dragons breath, obviously misunderstood my post or clearly just didn't read it. It wasn't to say which was better because every gun serves a purpose. ( maybe even No Land Beyond some day) This was just to state that the launcher itself, in my opinion, is not bad. I NEVER SAID IT WAS BETTER, just that it isn't a bad launcher.
-
"A rock and a stick isn't bad, you just don't have any skill!"
-
Most people don't mean "It's bad". What they actually mean is that it's worse than other rocket launchers so it is basically useless. The math has already been done and it's nowhere near the DPS of Gjallerhorn. Especially since most of the time you want a RL for large amounts of instant damage (i.e. dropping shields on Crota).

Gjallahorn isnt the best… I am
-
It's not bad... but there are better RLs...
-
Thank you FINALLY i'm not alone
-
HoC ftw
-
Good for you wouldnt replace my ghorn with that garbage anyway.

1 ReplyTry a mint it can nerf dragons breath!
-
Ayyy lmao
-
I love Dragons Breath. I also love my Gjallarhorn. It all depends on what I am doing which one I choose to equip.
-
I wish it had optional proximity detonation. IMO that is all that it lacks. I have never used tracking. Ever.
-
Skill? It's a rocket. Not hard to fire

15 RepliesDragon's Breath sucks, all these threads are being create by people wo Gjallarhorn. Damage tests have already been done and Gjallarhorn is still better in terms of damage, velocity, tracking overall viability in game. You don't need blast radius when using a rocket launcher, they are high burst DPS weapons meant for bosses, you don't use them for mobs. Dragon's Breath is a mob killer rocket launcher, this is why it sucks because it takes away the reason the rocket launcher is good. Dragon's Breath is a weapon with a role that is not meant for the weapon type. You take a plethora of LMG's and they will kill considerably more mobs than a Dragon's Breath can, you use Dragon's Breath against a boss, and you are just doing less damage than a Gjallarhorn, so Dragon's Breath is in a state of being a pretty useless exotic. As for it's own role, a mob killing rocket launcher is borderline useless being that LMG's exist. People who say this weapon is a godlike weapon merely just don't have a Gjallarhorn or a decent LMG for that matter. You would never, ever say that Dragon's Breath is good once you use a Gjallarhorn, ever.

I have Dragons Breath. I love it.

Edited by Bring Back SRL You Cowards: 1/5/2015 4:41:40 PMYes Dragons Breath is good, but saying you think it's better than Ghorn is taking it a little too far. Ghorn has a much higher DPS then most weapons in the game
-
In crucible control it's great in my opinion. In raids I just can't give up Ghorn though. It's too good. Being an exotic it just has to compete with too many other great weapons to be used full time. I might move to Hunger of Crota if I get one so I can use vex till I get to the raid boss though

3 RepliesI have all three launchers and I really tried to make an excuse to use the Dragon's breath in one of my slots but I couldn't Initially I felt the solar flare would make up for slower launch velocity and lack of tracking since it potentially can do tons of extra damage. Also, the solar flare actually does quite alot of "ticks" per damage than the regular solar flare grenade from my memory (I could be wrong). HOWEVER, the biggest issue with this is the nature of the enemy AI, unless you somehow manage to hit the enemy right underneath their feet in a rather confined area, you will get at the most 2-3 ticks before they move away. I have gotten plenty of great shots on a large boss, but they move away immediately to really have a great damage over time. This was mentioned, but the solar flare itself can be a bad thing as well for example for Atheon. He tends to move to that off area during Time's Vengeance making the entire time a difficult and wasted opportunity. You also mentioned the blast radius is the largest of of the launcher, this is also not true. Truth has actually exactly the same blast radius. To top it off, as of last exotic patch has 3 shells as well (this solidified my love for truth in pvp situations permanently over the ghorn). Truth tracking, I mention this alot to ghorn fanatics, is unparalleled to ANY tracking perk in the game, really making it more ideal for pvp encounters. You shouldn't have to have that kind of tracking to hit targets in PvE like you mentioned :) At the end of the day tho, if anyone tells you you suck because you use the Dragon's Breath over other launchers, don't play with them. It is really dumb to judge you by someone's video game digital item anyways. Also, Dragon's Breath has it's uses. I feel at least so far, it was made for the THIS DLC. It an awesome crowd control item. Has the same blast radius as Truth, but the linger damage takes care of those pesky thralls! I had fun using this in the DLC missions and some sections of Crota. I hope (and feel they will) they will adjust this item a bit to be more useful.

This^ If you need tracking you dont need a rocket launcher.
-
I like my rockets fast. A snail can get out of the way of dragons breath.
-
I mostly just enjoy having a few different guns to mess around with and shoot at things. I picked up the dragons breath and it's been pretty sweet. Like most guns. It's pretty useable, maybe even better than others. No complaints.

Edited by abzinthe: 1/5/2015 3:05:08 PMI agree, dragons breath isnt bad but, I dont want to be in a fireteam fighting atheon or crota with 1 or more players using it. For the same reason you dont throw grenades at atheon and crota. You want your target to stand still while you shoot at them. And you sure as hell do no want atheon to go running to a side and hide behind a wall on the left or right because the middle is filled with solar flares he just walks away from. There are situation where the solar flares could be usefull. For example trying to block a certain hallway or area ( for example templar fight). Personally i wouldn't chose it, because imo its a waste of an exotic slot. I don't even use Ghorn. (never even fired a shot with it lol) I use hunger of crota. Because it is "just" a legendary. And allows me to keep hawkmoon as a primary. Same reason why i prefer black hammer over IB.
-
Truth has three rocks in a mag. And it has tracking.
-
It may not be a bad weapon, but try this one on for size. Gjallarhorn is sexier looking!
-
These same people claim the universal remote is trash, until I kill them with it!
-
My unfriendly giant has 3 rockets in a clip. and when reloading there is a chance to hold 4. Blast radiance is decent and velocity is pretty good. So basically my unfriendly giant is just as good as your exotic dragon breath.

2 RepliesI got truth, ghallerhorn, dragons breath, hezens vengeance, and crotas hunger.. don't even know what one I like the most or Least yet
