Three points to consider:
So in my exploration, I noticed behind the gate to the Black Garden, there is a structure in the distance. It looks Vex like, with your typical stone and mechanical design that you know of.
One of the grimoire cards talks about Vex running simulations to see how we would respond. A fireteam discusses their likeness or copies in a simulation. Next card reveals conversation between the copies within the simulation. They are aware of their situation to a degree.
As you read the conversation, you will notice the card describing different Vex noises that happen while the fireteam discusses.
When you are in The Black Garden, you can hear distant Vex noises as well as if something is nearby but unseen.
Theory:
When we enter the gate, we are entering that structure that I talked about earlier. We dont actually destroy the black heart, for we entered a simulation. The structure is essentially a server we transported into. Think of Tron.
Points to consider for theory:
-Ghost cant find it in any time or space.
-Before activating spire, Ghost says the place is one big machine
-When the battle is over, Ghost mentions we are back on Mars. Meaning simulation ended and we returned.
Thoughts?

1 ReplyI'm pretty sure that's not a fireteam. Unless you're referencing a different set of cards that's Dr. Shim et al. The Destiny-verse being a simulation in the mind of a Vex would explain, sort of, why the computer calls you "Dr. Shim" during the archive mission.

7 RepliesEdited by Billy Mays: 12/23/2014 11:39:36 PMThe vex are capable of locking certain areas out of time and space They locked the black garden into a special spot out of reach for anyone but themselves. We got in because the eye of the gatelord When we killed that black blob, the vex no longer had a hold on the black garden Thus returned to space and time, allowing our departure.

1 ReplyThe whole game is a simulation. :mind blown:
-
4 RepliesI think the game is a simulation. That's why gaurdians can't die. The Traveler is running simulations to find its champion.
-
3 RepliesI think you over thinking it. Bungie isn't sure what is going on with the story right now.
-
1 ReplyThat Grimoire card about the vex simulation was one of the coolest ones I read. There have to be bigger story implications there.
-
7 RepliesThe card you reference to where the simulation/copies are talking, isn't actually the Sim talking. That's the researchers in real life talking about the sims and how they're doing everything they themselves are doing. Thus the part about "if you have an idea, that means your sim has an idea and the vex knows it" and the other line about "call a meeting right away" "strange..your Sim just did too"

I'm still waiting for the Frank Tipler/Omega Point grimoire card.

3 RepliesWhat if your whole life is a simulation....

Its definitely a dope theory but... we all know Bungie isn't that creative when it comes to Destiny lol.

What about "the undying mind" strike?
-
It's not. The Grimoire card for the new crucible map, Pantheon, makes it quite clear that the Black Garden is a real place.
-
4 Replieshere is a point to consider. this game has virtually no story. so it really doesn't matter, because its all speculation.
-
Hella plot holes, leading to this kind of speculation. I doubt the game is that elaborate.
-
2 RepliesUndying mind strike nullifies this. That strike is you stopping the vex from bringing back the heart.
-
You went wrong when you started reading the cards. You buy the video game to do the exact opposite. On a serious note, you might be on to something.
-
Ha As if Bungie would do that Good try though:)
-
Sounds... interesting. I would need to actually have my brain working to make a decent statement, but for now your post is good.

1 ReplyTalking to the stranger after the first Venus mission. "Why did you bring us here?" "I didn't. They [vex] did."
-
15 RepliesI think you may have misinterpreted those grimiore cards.

We continue being in the Garden and we return to Mars??? I dont know... Is a bad explained part. I only know that this place can be the same as Crotas universe with the Dead Sun but the version of the Garden Hearth... If it is a simulation... why Vex need real people?? Is absolutly ridicoulous. No, i think the Black Garden is the enter to the Solar Sistem. The Vex first arrived to Mars. and the Gate is the door. The garden is just like a bus stop between The Solar Sistem and their Home. The think that i only know is that the Black Garden is a Parody about the universe and the planets... The "Black" Garden, black because if you see the space is black, and garden because all the planets can be used as pots for life. The Traveler is called the Gardener in the Grimoire cards. Well... I dont know... is all very confusing.

4 RepliesWhat if it is inside the traveler and we went back in time and killed the traveler? And the Vex aren't trying to kill the traveler, they are trying to kill us because we destroyed it? What if the Vex worship the traveler and all of their time manipulation is to save the traveler, from us?
-
Idk I'm leaning more towards we killed it because after it died the ghost said the light is returning to the traveler! I just think the vex locked the black garden out of time like the vault of glass. Just doesn't have a bad ass axis mind like atheon guarding it!
-
10 RepliesWhat if Destiny is just a giant simulation by the vex and we aren't truly awaken until Destiny 2?
-
5 RepliesSo by this then "killing" the black heart in the simulation somehow begins to heal the traveler??
