Ok, so this week we're talking about Flinching / Descoping in Halo, which was better, and Halo 4 had purely flinch. Also, you probably haven't noticed this, but Halo Reach had a combo flinch and descope but were balanced together. And here's the poll results from Halo Waypoint: https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst235359_Future-Halo---Flinch--Descope-or-Both.aspx
So what do you guys think about this, which one would you want to see in future Halo titles?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ideas listed below from you guys
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Concept 1

Flinching and Descoping would be based on damage.
Now if you're taking mild damage before it hits halfway of your shield, you will be flinching, but If the damage accumulated is past halfway of your shield it'd make you descope, and every shot after that would make you descope until your shield recharges.

Concept 2

Weapon selection will play a factor.
Example if an enemy were to shoot you, the user would do mild flinching, automatics (at first) would make you do moderate flinching, Utility weapons would make you flinch severely and than shortly after descope you. And finally, upon that, any heavy weapon (if you're still alive) will make you descope.

Concept 3

2 head shots in a row (utility weapons) makes you descope. 1st shot, mild flinch, 2nd, descope and body shots make you do minor flinching.

descope forever and always.

2 RepliesDescoping, it was a certain aspect of Halo multiplayer that no other game I played had (or at least that I can remember).

I'm not even sure why descoping was replaced with flinching in the first place, descoping worked perfectly fine.

1 Replyanyone who says anything other than descoping like in every halo before halo 4 is retarded and part of the downfall of halo you're all bad

Please, just make a Halo game with Halo 2/3 mechanics. It worked, it wasn't broken, it was popular, and there was absolutely no problem with keeping it around other than 343i's head being us their arse and thinking that people wanted to play another CoD clone. I obviously don't want another Halo 2/3, but there are ways to innovate without harming the core. If you want to innovate, give us larger and greater maps with more vehicles. Integrate clans/groups for a community focus. Let us use Scarabs. Create an option in all gametypes to give us a Target Locator by holding "Y", and allow customeizable, preset killstreaks of some sort (drop items via Target Locator, from weapons to a Scarab). Give larger clans the ability to create custom, ranked playlists for clan members that works through matchmaking. Give us an entire UI suite for customizing bloom on weapons if we so choose to use bloom. Make the campaign more replayable by reintroducing skulls, bringing back the point system, and giving us more to explore in the levels. Bring back Firefight and introduce Firefight forge. There, I came up with countless yet reasonable, innovative ideas that everyone would love. Stop -blam!-ing with popular core assets.

1 ReplyI'd prefer to have it as something that can be switched in customs, as to keep both forms in.
-
1 ReplyDescope was a steady problem that just never seemed to be fixed through Halo 1-3. Flinch is at least better.
-
1 ReplyDescoping is better for the sandbox. Make those cocky marksmen have to hip-fire across the map.

Without descoping there is less incentive to avoid being shot.

Descope.

Not only was de-scoping just annoyingly stupid, it doesn't even make sense. This is an advanced soldier with powered-armor and shielding. It was beyond dumb when I got shot, attempted to go out of scope manually just to be sent right back into scoping repeatedly. Flinching is far superior.

Descope. Flinch is too little an even if they did increase it it would just be annoying and I would want to zoom out anyways. Imagine being shot at with flinch and you still being zoomed in, and your reticle just going all over the place. It would be annoying as hell. Descope, is for one more traditional and there wasn't really anything wrong with it in the first place. Sure sometimes it can get annoying, but I think it's way better than having to zoom out yourself when being shot at and having your reticle go crazy and suddenly looking at the sky.

1 ReplyDescope. Flinch doesn't really do much to balance long range battles.
-
Keep it simple and predictable. Descope every time.
-
1 ReplyDescope, flinching is not severe enough to keep you alive, and makes covering fire useless. Descoping makes long ranged weapons less powerful, giving people using close ranged weapons a better chance.
