And yet we have NEVER seen a Romani actor take on the role. They also CONTINUE to erase his Romani heritage in the films. This was my biggest disappointment with the announcement of RDJ as Doom.
There’s so many Romani actors that could have been PERFECT. Hell, you could have had an open casting call as well, cause it’s not important WHO plays him, just that the actor is GOOD.
The EXACT same problem with Scarlet Witch and Quicksliver. Elizabeth Olsen even went so far as to call her Scarlet Witch’s outfit inspired by “g——.”

8 RepliesPlease, Romani is much too busy trying to save the cows to be a supervillain.

19 RepliesObviously, we aren't going to get 1-for-1 adaptations of comics to movies and if you expected as much, you've never seen a movie or TV show based on literature. The movies seem to be intended for a wider audience and not just comic book purists. Out of curiosity, who are some Romani actors/actresses?

Yeah I strongly agree with you here. How authentic of an adaptation is it? Not at all and it's actually quite upsetting. The character they are setting up is NOT Victor Von Doom but instead just an evil Tony Stark which is such a disservice. They already stated that Doctor Doom and Mr. Fantastic will not have a direct, personal rivalry but instead more of a Tony and Thanos relationship which is so freaking scuffed. Narratively it's possible it can work but regardless, an accurate representation of Dr. Doom is much more desired by the fans.
