Onslaught as a "Gambit" mode

Day (I stopped counting) of Gambit receiving no major changes or updates and it's pretty safe to say there isn't one coming anytime soon. Players have been asking for a revamp or an overhaul to the game mode that doesn't seem like it will ever come... or so we think. While still early into it's release, onslaught seems to be receiving a lot of positive sentiment from the community. With as great as it has been to play currently, there is still plenty of opportunity for the mode to grow and be expanded upon (more rounds, new augments, new bonus challenges, etc.). This means Onslaught has great potential going into the future. Outside of expanding the experience as I just mentioned, one of the first things that came to mind when the mode released was the possibility of making it a PVPVE style mode similar to Gambit. Even more specifically like Blooms TD Battles. They could easily change the enemies to Taken and have Drifter host a team vs team onslaught game were the rounds are shorter and the difficulty spikes a little quicker to make sure the games don't last 50 min. As for the PvP part, I was thinking that scrap could be used in two ways, either save it to by defenses or let there be a Gambit bank where dropping scrap will allow you to send over a demolitionist, group of Ogres, sky bombers, or even a Tormentor. Additionally, maybe instead of invading, you send one person to the pyramid to do the spark dunking round and the faster a person completes it the more bonus scrap your team could get to spend on defenses or that tormentor you have been saving scrap to send over. Obviously this is a rudimentary idea that I threw together, but I honestly think the concept is there. What do you guys think?

  • Onslaught has been getting mostly positive sentiment from the community and you already want to ruin it by mentioning onslaught and gambit in the same sentence?

  • I don't think taking something that's being almost universally received well (Onsalught) and making it more like something that's basically the opposite (as far as player sentiment goes) is a smart move tbh. If anything, make this a new mode/variant of Onslaught but don't taint it with Gambit. The Drifter can stay. He's fine. I'm not against PvEvP modes, and actually think there's plenty of ideas that could work, but I'd 1000000% never strap the Gambit name to it ever again.
