This is not a unique observation.. it’s a THING, most likely in preparation for Bungie to drop the “Seeking Orbs” mod they discussed with the launch of LightFail, and the loss of “Seeking Wells”. At this point, Bungle, you just need to not even have an orb physically drop in game, not make a Seeking Orb mod, and have the orbs we crate proc our armor charges (for the fireteam) intrinsically. If this is how the game, armor, and mods are evolving, then we shouldn’t have to chase the triggers of our armor charge around the maps.
