I would like to thank you all at Bungie for helping me

I have recently finished Episode 4 of the Sever Mission. I am not going to lie, Episode 3 was very triggering for me personally as my wife and I lost our son, Sionnach, just over 2 years ago to a genetic condition that he was born with, Revesz Syndrome. To explain it in short terms, his light was almost gone out when he was born. He was given 3 months to live. He stayed with us for 18 months. I understand that Trauma of losing a child. The Story that lead me through Zavala's pain of losing his child reverberated with me greatly however it did help me to face my own Nightmares. It helped me to face the fear and pain that my wife and I face every day. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for telling a story of that pain, without sensation, without gloss. It is a pain many of us face in light of recent events and it was told extremely well. I would sincerely appreciate these thanks to be forwarded to the Development Teams involved and to the Actors who told the story through their voices. Their honesty is greatly appreciated! So good night from Ireland, and to all those who face these Dark Times I will say this, You are not alone. Our Light is stronger together and don't be afraid of the Nightmares. Face them. Face them with courage and Face Them together. A Night is only the coming of another Dawn. Goodnight, to all of you. With Love, Blackthorn#6808

It has become clear to me that a reply to this thread has spiralled off. I originally replied to someone trying to make it clear that in my own opinion, using a post that expresses that the feelings of losing a child to attack members of the Destiny Community using the phrase "spit roasting 12 year olds" was in incredibly bad taste and gave them time to retract that statement. After that, it seems that this encouraged them. I was accused of threatening them and apparently reported to the Admins here for these apparent threats. Since then, I can see nothing of the ensuing discussion as after these were repeated to me via a private message, I reported that user for harassment and blocked them. It seems to me that that ongoing tirade of bile has continued. Again I cannot see what has been said but I have received notifications of replies to myself directly accusing me repeatedly of glorifying the loss of my 18 month old child here. That is too much. That is beyond the Pale. So I am taking this opportunity to end this right here. I have requested that an Admin lock this thread. I want to thank everyone who has reached out with words of support. I'd also like to personally thank those of you who have shared your own pain. You are not alone. I hope that after locking this thread, everyone can take a step back from the abyss and take some time to consider the implications of this. To think about what the ramifications of words can have on people, especially those suffering from the eternal emotional pain of loss. May your Light guide you out of whatever Darkness you are in. With Love, Always, Blackthorn#6808 ❤️

    • Damm as a father myself I am sorry that you and your wife went through that. I feel like the only thing that could break me as a person as a man would be to lose one of my kids. Not sure I could handle that.

Look man, I can relate. I really get it. I do. And it’s one of those “you have to experience it for yourself because the words don’t exist” (even in German and they have a word for everything) So, having said that, I may need to dust because I got something in my eye while Zavala was expressing the emotion of feeling helpless when bad stuff happens beyond our control You’ll never “get over it” but what I can say is, try to remember the good and eventually the random daily memories that pop in out of nowhere might make you smile instead of…get dust in your eye And if this game has helped you along your way, even a little, then I got nothing but respect for that. And you

I'm sorry this thread went south. But unfortunately, and just to be fair UMBRALHUNHOW is right with "This community". Even if it's not this community, it's our whole society, and a lot would be won if everybody would realize that every human being has good and bad into it. It's just that this sensitive matter, this thread about the loss of a child, is not the right place to point at others misbehaves. - You can't fight fire with fire. OP, there's one more thing I like to say. I totally understand that you are grabbing after every straw, but I don't think that this forum is the right place to talk about such things. Just as example: you should have send Bungie an e-mail to express your gratitude. + To everybody else - please -, don't discuss this further, this is Blackthorn's thread. Maybe think about it instead.

Ive never really lost anyone i was REALLY close to, but my grandpa died 2 years ago, and my counsin just last week. Im really close to her son tho so i did cry (crying isnt for babies. Dont be ashamed to cry) but ye the story was well told. This is also a great example of how bungie isnt as bad as everyone says. Maybe they dont do the best they can on the game, but the story is where its at. Same thing with The Legend of Zelda. Idk if u have played it, but Link is the least likely person u would chose to save the world. Hes short, and not strong, but anyone can be great. It doesnt matter what shape u r, or how strong u r, its the fact that u r a ‘p e r s o n’ (wont let me say it for sum reason) and anyone can be great if they really tried. Bungies saying that no matter wut problems u may be going thru, u can always come out victorious. As long as u stay true. Sry for this long post but i feel like it had to be said. Keep ur eyes up.👍
