Are we not getting a Trials weapon refresh for Witch Queen?
Bungie touched very lightly on Trials in the TWAB, and they showed a "peak" at a weapon returning to the loot pool for Witch Queen, and it was literally just the Summoner.
A gun already in the game.
Not even a returning D1 favorite, one literally already in D2.
Honestly if we're [i]still[/i] not getting a suite of actually new/not in D2 weapons for Trials for an expansion as big as Witch Queen, that is an enormous let down. One or two new guns every year isn't good enough when in D1 you showed us a new arsenal with practically every expansion, especially with Rise of Iron's set having so much personality.

I don’t see them dedicating any resources towards a dead mode. Just because your favorite streamers play trials doesn’t mean it’s popular, they play because it’s casual and they can make money off of terrible matchmaking. Remember win based matchmaking? I want to know what everyone thinks the secret weapon is going to be. Maybe a... 140 hand cannon? Just joking, but as far as I know there's already basically one of every archetype in the mode unless I'm missing something.

Trials refresh should be the season after the expansion. That's probably when we'll get a new set of armor plus more new weapons. Probably not a full suite, but maybe 3 like we got in Chosen. After that probably just a new weapon and a reissue or two each season.

1 ReplyI assume they are going to lean heavily on weapon crafting I mean, I dunno if that’s a good thing. On one hand build what you want, how you want. On the other hand, farming ‘resources’ is pretty lame. The D1 sword quests were tedious af but worth it. Could you imagine every weapon you want to ‘craft’ requiring that level of monotony? They gonna sell shortcuts for silver like transmog? They’ve already throttled resource acquisition and ammo drops with timers as it is

5 RepliesWait There is still people expecting something insane from a bungie major expansion ? Last time the content was worth the money was forsaken. Shadowkeep and beyond light were closer to a warmind DLC in terms of loot and content. (But not price wise XD) For real, dont expect a ton of loot and content from witch queen. Just accept that its how it is rn

1. They said they’d save the new stuff for you to discover on WQ launch. 2. Trials loot refresh is on a one-season delay. We got new armor and some weapons with Season of Chosen. Now, we’ll get a new set of trials armor in season 17. We’ve been getting a new trials weapon every season thus far, and that trend will likely continue. Yes, having a completely brand-new refresh of loot is fun, but it doesn’t work in this new seasonal model. Bungie can’t both provide a full suite of trials weapons, alongside a season’s weapons, as well as raid weapons, destination weapons, iron banner weapons, and any reprisals in an expansion. That’s simply unrealistic to expect. So [i]instead[/i], bungie releases a few Iron banner weapons and a trials weapon every season, so that you’re getting content throughout the year, instead of all of it frontloaded with an expansion. Plus bungie has the opportunity to work on those weapons while also being able to work on other content.

1 ReplyDon't remember the exact verbiage, but I don't think that's necessarily the only weapon getting added to the trials pool. Might just be one of several, and they only showed one in the TWAB. At least I hope so

A majority of the loot is locked behind seasonal activities and artifact grinds now, hence why we have to double dip with premium priced DLC's and season passes to get actual "loot refreshes".

They also mentioned a Brand new weapon for Trials. Please Re-read the TWAB.

Think a full refresh will be the season after. We never got a full Trials loot rework (new armor set, messenger, igneous hammer, etc) until Season of the Chosen, the season after Season of the Hunt or the first season of the Beyond Light DLC. Pretty sure Bungie gotta try to keep interest throughout the year instead of unleashing everything when the dlc drops.

Maybe? For now I’m treating what we got in the TWAB is a teaser. I mean it is possible that’s all that’s getting updated in the Trails loot pool, but maybe not. It’s not like Bungie has shown off everything we can and should expect to see in WQ yet. And Trials doesn’t always happen in the first weekend either. So they may be holding off on a big Trials in WQ breakdown for a TWAB after WQ has come out when there is generally less news other than fixing bugs and other issues.

10 RepliesI was actually hoping it would make a comeback. The one I already have isn't an adept version and probably better for PvE overall. Plus there's a lot of perks that weren't out when the gun was first available so why wouldn't it come back?
