Does anyone else encounter players private messaging them for basically no reason accusing them of “K/D” camping?
For context I have recently started playing with a pulse rifle, usually I stick to hand cannons but fell in love with my messenger as of late. I’ve adjusted my playstyle a little to adapt with using a pulse rifle. The problem is I’ve had about 3/4 games now where I’ve had people add me on steam to accuse me of camping and say some very “kind” things to me.
I’ve never thought I have camped in any games and typically in games I am 90% of the time in the top 2 players of the team while getting either the most kills or about average as everyone else while still capturing zones and playing objective. I just die less.
The problem I find is that because sometimes in games I keep to longer pulse rifle range to avoid being obliterated by hand cannons and SMGs people seem to confuse this kind of playstyle as camping - Im not always like this and will be more aggressive other times or when I have desperado going or feeling good in the game but isn’t adapting how you play and deciding what you challenge part of the game?
In my head it seems smarter to keep back especially on smaller maps with a pulses rifle and play accordingly to counter the enemy team. I’m not getting any less kills or being a hinderance to my team.
Just wanting to know if anyone else encounters this kind of toxicity when playing with a pulse? Destiny player base is one of the best in my opinion so this kind of stuff is really a let down

2 RepliesEdited by Demon_XXVII: 8/1/2021 6:12:29 AMIf you’re doing well with pulse rifles, gaining kills, capturing zones, killing opponents, creating kill boxes, flanking & offering fire support to teammates And some shitgunner idiot sends you a message whining about you killing them Reply with this: “Stay in the lobby, it’s funny watching you die” With that they’re already losing their shit! 😆
Just wanting to know if anyone else encounters this kind of toxicity when playing with a pulse? Destiny player base is one of the best in my opinion so this kind of stuff is really a let down
You'll encounter that kind of toxicity anytime you run into someone who takes this game a little too seriously....and their ego is a little too fragile to handle losing. Its like the little kid who gets mad, turns over the board game and accuses you of cheating when he realizes that he's going to lose. Its not that you're cheating. Its just that he's young and can't handle the emotions (frustration, embarrassment, anger) that can come with competition....and losing. The culture of sportsmanship in sports is 80% about teaching people to win with humility, and to lose with grace. Which you see too little of in online gaming. Their is almost NOTHING you can do with pulse rifle in this game that can be even remotely considered "unsporting". You are just dealing with someone who is lashing out because they can't handle losing....and they are probably a one-dimensional player who can't adapt to whatever it is you're doing. But instead of taking the L, learning from it....and fixing whatever weakness in their game you're leveraging? They need to accuse you of some sort of wrongdoing so that their self-esteem can handle losing.

IMO, camping is staying in one place and farming whomever comes around the corner. Most interior spaces i've seen in D2 Crucible don't have much in the way of a spot to keep hidden since there's a way in and out that's fairly wide open (Widow's Court in the Church being an exception). If they wanna be salty about it, let them. Heters gonna hate. Use that salt to season your fries or something lmfao
-
2 RepliesI’m guessing that the person saying it’s camping has completely neglected long range weapons from their arsenal and thusly can’t overcome. All’s fair in love and Crucible.

I am below average player and I get hate messages for using pulse rifles sometimes. I love my vigilance wing with catalyst as it is good to shoot shotgun and hc apes in open maps. Who cares.
-
Who cares what they think? Play your way.

Bungie’s current matchmaking system.

K/D camping doesn't exist; spawn camping or corner camping yea maybe. If you were standing in one place for the entirety of the match/matches and getting kills you're camping. Camp like pitching a tent with no intent to move from your location. That's what camping means. I guess they are upset you're better than they are. They're also using the term wrong; they probably feel you're padding your k/d.
-
Imagine play with a sniper, lol... No camping, one thing is stuck on 1 place & dont move just waiting for ppl to come (like some shotgun ppl around the corner) & another thing is to know the best places to shot, the messenger is a very good long range weapon, hard to counter on long stance, even on close stance is hard to counter, a very good weapon (& if you got desesperado it will just a multi kill machine). I prefer that instead of go ahead and killed by a non aiming shotgun.

"K/D camping" is a term used by sore losers who are jealous of better players or ticked off because they got owned.

Edited by Infamous067: 7/31/2021 4:19:02 PMBruh why do you even have messages on? Like what is the point of reading anything some random stranger has to say? My destiny experience drastically improved after I blocked random messages from strangers. Im so glad to this very day I did that since D1 lol. As for the topic, bro just do whatever you want. If you want to stay back and camp idiots that refuse to use primaries, let them be salty. If you are camping out idiots that are constantly rushing in the middle of the field while you can camp them out from cover then who cares? Keep playing smart, keep the positive K.D. Those players are just mad they lack common sense or any form of brain activity lol.

The people who complain about playing for K/D are the same losers who crutch Shatterdive, main Hunter, are married to their shotgun, and one-win reset K/D farm in Trials. Every. Single. Time.

Can't really say would have to see gameplay. If you're just laning for more than 75% of the game I guess that's camping but in control the whole point is to keep map control soooooo
confused screaming
4 RepliesEdited by YATM: 8/1/2021 10:32:56 PMComplaining about something in the game is scrub mentality. When I get those messages I just reply “EA Sports” cause if it’s in the game I’m gonna use it. Even spawn farming, while super annoying, is in the game. Until Bungie changes the rules, removes, or modifies the content the best course of action is to take any advantage available. The only exception would be off map and other forms of hacking/cheating.

3 RepliesAs a bit of a pvp sweat myself, I respect the hustle. As long as you're not using stasis, abusing aim assist, or crutching on shotties, you've got a pass from me. More power to you brother, Messenger is killer and I'm glad you're out there reminding people.

2 RepliesYou're not KD camping. IMO, you're effectively countering the shotgun/super/special ammo spamming, no-skill knuckleheads who are now mad because their aping "technique" is finally being shown for what it is, Skill-less Troglodyte-itus. Added; if you're getting zones, high kill counts, and staying alive in the process than you're playing control as it was intended, and they aren't. End of. These sorry drips spent almost a year running (effectively) a mid-range Howitzer to 1 shot stomp players like it was cool and the gang. Once the nerf hit they suddenly realize that without their God Mode/Insta-Kill Bang Stick they have all the aiming & positional skills of small furry prey animals. Hence, whinging and moaning against better players is just how such butthurt, useless zeroes roll. That's how most little spoiled prats have behaved since games were invented. Message them back & poke them. Laugh at their lack of talent. Maybe throw in a "git gud" or something just for shits & giggles. I certainly would. Those 'space shooter street cred' jokers need psychiatric treatment anyway, maybe antagonizing them will lead to some self reflection and a call to a local Losers Support Group or something. :)

Just use MIDA. People don't know what to do with themselves
-
Ignore them, shotgun apes hate it when you don't push forward at all times.

A lot of players with large egos (without the skill to even have an ego that large) think any passive play styles are “playing KD”. I enjoy using my Rapid hit box breathing Hung Jury on larger maps. The hate mail I get is ridiculous. Win or lose I’m sure to get bagged and a message. People forget that it’s just D2…

2 RepliesThe tryhards are don't like when they have a hard time taking people down in pvp. I get msgs of hate about using sidearms and smgs from straight up shotgun users. I had a dude send some really hateful stuff. I go look him up and 90% or so of his kills came from abilities and shotguns. My team was not running special weapons in order to deprive him and his stack of shotgun ammo. When I tell you we stomped them it's an understatement. They did not know how to use a primary at all. Just keep doing you bro. I -blam!-ing love getting msgs all I reply is don't leave the lobby.

Edited by DHawk12: 8/1/2021 12:20:12 PMStaying behind teammates, never pushing/leading, focusing on surviving instead of winning and just overall playing very passively.

Considering d2 is a very hard game to camp in you gotta try pretty hard to camp
-
I use mida and drang on my top tree arc Titan.. I have over 300,000 pvp kills, my only real playing style is to attack the whole enemy team every single time while trying to hold 2 capture points. I usually try keep the 2 closest to each other while my team just runs around like headless chickens. I love 6 play pvp but find 3v3 hard to stomach and slow. Anyhow play how you want and have fun. Ps; am the most bagged person in crucible and also receive the most hate mail 🤣

In PvP I mostly play Pulse Rifle/Scouts, so I play on long ranges behind covers, avoid 1vmultiple players and mostly just move around long lines. On certain Maps this allows me to defend a zone very easily from people rushing or using weapons with less range then mine. Usually just a Super forces me to run away. I use a Shotgun as a Special Weapon for when someone push me aggressively but I can't run/Shotgun (I mean, I suck at it). I think that when people see this kind of behaviour, since D2 is mostly a run-special-weapons-all-the-time PvP kinda of game, they think you're camping/saving your K/D.

My issue is with capping zones. I normally top frag with a variety of weapons (Polaris, Not Forgotten, Austringer, bygones.) I had lots of fun with suros regime. I don't know, I just find capping zones boring. I sometimes won't get the most defeats as I don't throw my self in intentional danger or being "reckless". I rather go 24 and 8 vs 30 and 15. I like the gernade launcher with quick access sling combo. Do 180 damage then finish them with a handcannon. Had this guy message me about capping zones. This was on javalin 4. I had to explain to him that we would've lost anyways, that I tried my best to fight off the enemy while they capped zones. But ultimately that as long as I'm not breaking ToS that I can play the game as I please. Plus we all know bungie skews some matches to basically give the match away to one team. Plus it's control so the mode only expatriates this.

They're just mad bc your playstyle counters theirs'. Disregard.
