For me it probably had to be The Division 1...
I remember seeing the original E3 2013 Reveal and it looked AMAZING! Obviously Ubisoft and Massive made it look amazing on purpose to build up hype but apart from it looking good the whole game was a letdown for me.
Let me explain... I loved The Division 1! It’s one of my favorite games but when I saw the E3 2013 Reveal I was expecting it to be an Multiplayer Open World Survival game. I’m happy with what we got but I would have preferred a Multiplayer Open World Survival game... essentially the Survival game mode but on a grander scale.
I’m still hoping that someday we will get something similar to what we saw in 2013 but I doubt that will happen 😔.
Anyway... what you y’all? What game was a big letdown for you?

1 ReplyHalo 4 killed my soul. Then I thought, “it‘s okay, cuz Bungie’s working on a cool new IP. It’s gonna be the coolest game ever.” : (

12 RepliesMetroid: Other M. Is it any surprise? Does it need any introduction? I discovered the series very late - playing Super Metroid for the first time in 2018, then quickly moving onto Samus Returns, Zero Mission and Fusion. I loved and respected games as a medium of art in a way I had never seen them before, and Super Metroid itself changed the way I view the medium. Then I played Other M, thinking it was impossible for it to be as bad as everyone said. And I was right! It was *worse* by a large margin. In the space of a single year I found the best of the medium, and the worst, and it still blows my mind they're from the same series. There are other sequels, reboots and critically acclaimed titles that disappointed me, but the mere sight or mention of Other M makes me boil with rage in a manner that is rivalled only by Generic Protagonist on seeing Generic Archvillain.

Less the game itself, and more the last few minutes of it. Yes, I'm talking about Mass Effect 3. I'm aware that it has other flaws and problems for other people, but I honestly thought that the ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME was pretty much perfect for a final installment that wrapped up the trilogy and acknowledged the choices I made nicely. For me, personally. But that ending. Oh that ending... just... why, Bioware? Why would you completely shatter the setting and invalidate LITERALLY EVERYTHING that came before? I HATE that ending and don't like any of the exposition they tacked on as a "director's cut" because it doesn't actually help the core problem of the ending being garbage.

No man's sky I was genuinely hyped and it just... It fell flat I tried it again recently but I just can't find any enjoyment.

Pokémon Sun I couldn’t really get invested in the story after catching Solgaleo, sure there was the ultra beast stuff but that was just a lot of work for a sidequest of a game that I forgot about after a year.

Despite that I still enjoyed it as a one and done for the story, Anthem. The actual gameplay as far as handling goes is incredibly fun, but it stops there.

Anthem. Post-launch battlefield V was also a let down. When they released the Pacific War, I was hopeful that Dice and EA would try to fix the game and add stuff like D-Day and Stalingrad. But shortly after, they announced that no new content would come out and the game remained a failure.

Rocket League, because Psyonix is gone :( Epic Games is doodoo. I miss crates!!!

31 RepliesFallout 4. Talk about how to ruin a great franchise.
And yes, yes, I know, “Then you’d hate Fallout 76!”
Little Big Planet 3 Still an good game from a non-biased standpoint, but they changed studios from Media Molecules and it changed a lot of things for the franchise. And from a technical standpoint it had way too many bugs and didn’t really improve on the series like LBP2 did. Little Big Planet will still be one of my favorite franchises of all time none the less.

Anthem. I got it for free and was going strong, until I finished the campaign. Yep, that was a hard wall to hit. There is no endgame content.

1 ReplyRecent one I can thing of is Pokémon Sword but more specifically the wild area was a huge disappointment to me.
