Why are Vanguard playlist strikes 1100 instead of 1050?

Bungee said we would still be able to use sunset gear in non end game activities yet they set the VANGUARD STRIKES playlist at 40 above the sunset cap 50 above most of them if I don't want to waste a lot of cores. Sunsetting has killed many of my favorite weapons for playlist strikes. I don't like PvP that much but I will play it for the rewards, so what did I see as soon as I dropped into a match? Revoker. Mountaintop. All the classic PvP weapons because power doesn't matter even in comp. So why? Why does Sunsetting target casual pve but not casual pvp, where overpowered weapons actually have an impact beyond clearing mobs a little quicker? EDIT: In the TWAB they said the 1100 power level was not intended. Also, several of you claimed that weapon damage is based on your average power. I tested this is a lost sector on Europa. Using a power weapon to keep my average from changing I used the same rifle at 1244 and 1050. At 1244 it was 14,414 while at 1050 it was 3,911. • Non-playlist strikes on most planets should have a recommended Power of 1050. They never said "You can use sunset gear in playlist strikes."

Well because strikes are the easy mode and content more for newer and lower level players. It's more like an entrance activity and great for grinding out mind numbing quests. If we had to wait to do any playlist activity until we are capped outside of pvp, that would be a bad thing. It is also part of progression where we need that pinnacle to even get to 1250. Nightfalls are the more difficult mode strikes. Hence the name nightfall strike. Oh and because 1050 was last season. 1100 is super fast to grind in order to get into a strike.

      • Fair point, once we have our armor at 1250 though we should have no problem using those weapons in playlist strikes.

      • it shouldn't be hard to hit 1200 which is soft cap I hit it on day one so that could be a reason of why its 1100 because they expect players to hit soft cap week 1 you should be more worried on why the champions in the legendary lost sectors are a pain in the ass

        • I haven't had a whole bunch of pve God rolled weapons anyway. I kept the weapons I thought would be good in pvp.

        • I know right I expect nightfalls to be high but I had to level up when strikes were how I always leveled up! This sucks.

        • While I agree it makes no sense, it doesn’t matter the level of the weapon just the average so just use high level armor and you’ll be fine

          • Very good question. And I'm sure no one at Bungie can give a good answer to it.
