Grandmaster Nightfall cancer of PVE

Grandmaster Nightfall shows everything that is wrong with Destiny 2 PVE. BS 60 point Exotic armor as a reward, if you get disconnected you can restart. You have to stack mods to not get insta killed. This content is not a challenge it is almost a nightmare. Only the top 0.1% will ever be able to complete this! You want Ascendant Shards? To bad go grind you seasonpass because you will never finish the Grandmaster Nightfall... Do you need to be that good? You need to have good weapons, be the right light level, find 2 good players, you need to have time to practise and you sometimes need to be, just lucky... If you have all that go do it and waste atleast close to 45 minutes of your time for a 60 points exotic and 1 Ascendant Shard..... so basically 1 shard, thats it.... Yes I know people duo it and even solo it, they try for hours and hours and hours. Does content be so easy you can just complete it? Of course not, but the champions mods are just ...... , no fun at all! Piss off with your lame Overload Taken snipers, what are they? Some ultra Taken who can only be hit by the right mod? It so, so lazy and in my opinion even worse than flat out increasing healthbars or implementing stump mechanism on every single, mother ..... Boss! Even a Hydra stumps! Or farts come on! Grandmaster Bosses need to have unique mechanics. Majors need to look more evolved/elite and be smarter and stronger and if you use champions mods atleast let me choose my own weapons and let me use it on an exotic. Why does it make any sense that one season I have to use a handcannon and the other sidearm? Did they suddenly learn how to create a shield against everything else? Stop implementing lame systems and mechanics just for the sake of trying to make content hard to clear! Then what do we need to do? Make Grandmaster nightfall a darker a more Elite version of the normal Nightfall with only the best of the best enemies not the same enemies with more dmg and shields. Alter them, give them some unique mechanics, visuals and unique names, only the best hive who survived the pit, should face us. Make them come more in line with the guardians they face, because only the best guardians and probably the most experience will try and finish the Grand Master Nightfall any way! Maybe if you add unique flavor to it others will try it aswell! No it is just a buffed nightfall with annoying modifiers with lame rewards... Even the extra's from normal to a hard raid is something! But remove these lame champions shield. They are not champions in the lore! They are the lame Bungie Champions because we are to lazy to create some actual unique endgame content! Bungie Unique loot maybe, for once, please?

      • There is a problem with what you are trying to argue here. The addition of GM nightfalls are actually a step in the right direction for higher difficulty pve content, they are very optionally and allow the directed audience to enjoy a much more difficult experience in this very, very easy game. The problem with D2 currently is that most of the audience wants things given to them without hard work which can be shown with the current difficult content out there. An example of this would be Spire of Stars, everyone seems to hate this raid, yet it is actually quite good; one of the best out of the leviathans imo. However, since it is mechanically challenging to some and is fairly easy to mess up on people like to call it the worst raid despite that opinion reflecting solely on their lack of understanding of the raid's encounter. Going back on topic, the corrupted is a very annoying strike and the GM modifiers make it much worse to deal with due to the champions and the strength of the enemies. The champions add a good share of challenge to the game because it pulls people out of their comfort zone and makes them make new builds to complete said activities. The loot system definitely needs a rework though.

        • Im actually VERY glad that you find it hard / can't beat the GM Nightfalls, it actually makes them a good addition. They are the only bit of hard content in the entire game, with the only title / seal worth getting at the moment. Loot could be better but that clearly wasn't the point at the time of making as theyve said. Also champions are probably the best mechanic theyve added in a long, long time.

          • We just beat Corrupted today. It is absolutely in a class of its own. Its cheap as hell but we loved the challenge.

            • I think Bungie are confusing challenging content with annoying content. It's not fun to have a developer preach about how they want us to play the way we want but then force us into very strict loadouts and mod usage for end game content. Nor is it fun to be one hit killed by the weakest of enemies just because challenging content, according to Bungie, is just sliding the damage numbers up to silly levels. It's just lazy design - but at this point should we be suprised? Look at how much they struggle to make actual content that isn't re-skinned or re-puposed from another mode. It's not suprising they would do this and list it as new content. Add to this they lock in the most coveted resources; resources that will be even more of a premium when sunsetting kicks in and it just stinks of a forced grind and artificial player 'engagement'. I actually have nothing against challening content. I have done all the raids, most of them flawless and found them fun to do. Grandmaster NF, on the other hand, can go suck a hairy nut.

                    • Grandmaster sucks, want shards run the pit . 6 prisms every week,on one character. I have 50 prisms pretty much all the time, and store all the masterworks armor In my vault, and break down when I need prisms to make shards.

                    • Bungie can’t do proper challenging content. Of the runs I’ve watched by popular streamers, it’s nothing but stand as far back as you can and go invisible to run past certain areas. Bungie have somewhat painted themselves into a corner because some of our abilities are so strong they have to build enemies that basically cheat. They give them aim bot, zero cool down abilities, and let them one shot everything. It’s not like a Dark Souls challenge where you can learn and master enemy movement and encounters. In Destiny, it’s just hide and peak, and then run past everything. Destiny just doesn’t have the foundation for fairly designed, super hard content.

                      • Grandmaster is a test of how well you know the strike... which/how many enemies appear and where is/what triggers their spawn. Coordination is key; this week's strike is a difficult one that is for sure - it is longer than most, so this does mean having to be a lot more efficient in an unforgiving environment.

                        Agreed. I don' think this is the way you draw attention to endgame PvE content. I could be wrong, maybe some enjoy it, but I don't find that rewarding and honestly, its mainly just being able to find 2 other players who have all the right gear/mods as well as your self and some time to grind it out. Its really more about patience and the right mods. Anyway, at least to me its more of a hassel than it is entertainment and thats the opposite of what a video game should be, so I don't do it. Its not my thing.. I love challenging content done right, to me this isn't that. I woudln't mind if they changed it somehow to make it more appeasing. However, I also don't know what that would look like. So.... yeah.. not for me and thats okay.

                      • Im nowhere near a top 1% player. Im dead average, and my aim is crap. Im not even a 1kd in pvp. So i dunno where you get that feeling you need to be amazing to beat gms and get conqueror dude. Youre good enough. I got conqueror last season just by playing regularly with my team. Practicing, looooots of practice together. Modding smart, finding complimentary loadouts to our buddies, learning to be an effective teamplayer. You dont need to be a great player to beat gms, but you do need to be a great team. And that takes lots of practice. It took 9 months to a year for our team to integrate enough that we have that synergy in endgame now. Good teams arent made overnight. Keep at it, i believe in you ✌️

                          Was conquer last season and will be again. This content is obviously not for you. Yes you have to create builds that match the encounters and work with what your teammates are doing. It was the most fulfilling seal I received and I have over 10 seals. It’s super hard, you literally cannot make any stupid mistakes and you have to play smart. If that doesn’t sound like fun you can do the other 99% of pve which is brain dead easy. I don’t care about the rewards cause they will suck no matter what. its the only attitude you can have if you want to move forward in destiny. So much is rng based,how you feel about an activity solely on rewards will make you hate the game. Plus with sunsetting I’ve lost the want to chase items. Now I chase achievement and self improvement. Cause Bungie can’t sunset me or nerf me or take away what I have done.

                          • If you can't do it, just don't do it. You can still farm Master Nightfalls which give almost as much loot, plus contest isn't on so it isn't true caner. The only thing for GM Nightfalls is a title.

                            SOMETHING in the game has to be hard. Raids are easy, dungeons are easy, every ordeal but the master is easy, there has to be something to provide a challenge for those who seek it. Grandmaster nightfalls are nightmarishly hard even for the elite PvE gods in this game, as they should be. The conqueror title is one single PvE title that, instead of just being a bunch of random chores that are more tedious than difficult, actually requires you to be genuinely skilled and when you wear it people WILL be impressed. Remember back when you would see people with unbroken, a title that requires you to be legend in comp in 3 different seasons, within 4 or 5 seasons of it being available? You KNEW that person was nasty at PvP. Comp in forsaken was no joke, EXTREMELY hard compared to what it is now, so if you saw someone with Unbroken back then I don’t care who you were you were impressed. My point in all this is that Conqueror is the Unbroken of PvE. Grandmaster nightfalls are the first ever activity that is truly objectively HARD. For everyone. You can’t fly through them if you are efficient like with Master (1080) ordeals which can be done in 5 minutes. You have to be meticulous, deliberate, and extremely well coordinated and kitted just to get a completion out of Grandmaster nightfall, forget about doing it fast. This kind of challenge should exist. Also it’s not like theres stuff you can get from it that you can’t get from everyone else. In fact farming GMs is super inefficient. You get the same loot in a fraction of the time from Master ordeals. You complain about GM ordeals dropping shards and 60 stat exotics like you can’t also get those from Master, and infinitely faster.

Bungie Unique loot maybe, for once, please?[/quote] I'll say it once and I'll say it again, GM nightfalls should not be relying on throwing champions at the screen, it should be something of quality like Mythic Dungeons from WoW. When you make the actual content special you get players hyped to do the activities, not treating it like Legendary difficulty from Halo, Destiny is not just an FPS, do more with it.
