Generally speaking, if a weapon is overpowered, it is used as a main weapon (slot, type, varient, archetype) in most if not every fight if possible? Perfect examples in other games would be the Halo 1 pistol, Halo 2 sword, ACR and MP7 in Modern Warfare 3, and pre-nerf Dark Sword in Dark Souls 3. Edit: To name weapons that could've beeen considered or were OP, weapons that the majority of players used in D2 before they were nerfed, something better came along, the addition of the D1 weapon system, etc, we have: Luna/ NF (let's be real here, almost completely dominating a weapon slot for 9 months is ridiculous). Lord of Wolves. Prometheus Lens. Crimson. Graviton Lance. Vigilance Wing. Recluse. Monarque. Wishender. Sturm and Drang. Last Hope. Wardcliff. Truth. Queenbreaker. Sleeper. Edit 2: Those who have said true have agreed that generally speaking, if a weapon is OP that more often than not players will use them as their first weapon of choice. Those who have said false agree that a weapon is only OP if it's game breaking, though in plenty of cases those weapons that you might think aren't OP are the first ones to shoot and kill you anyway such as certain fusion rifles, shotguns, and pre-nerf Luna/ NF.

Ehhhh, frequently true, but not always. Lucario in Smash is severely underplayed, and I'd argue he's at least high tier in terms of his game data. But his usage (or lack thereof) obscures that fact. Or how about going into shooters where loadouts are chosen, the UMP from Infinite Warfare? It was superior in almost every aspect to the NV4 (pretty much the M4 but fuuuuture), yet saw nowhere near as much usage. People tend to spring for ease of use over raw power, so there's overlap with overpowered and usage, but overuse doesn't mean too much power. Erentil doesn't fit the overpowered model, as it has really easily exploitable downsides, and Wardcliff is kind of grey area due to Exotic Heavy. Neither have usage numbers that are alarmingly high either, IIRC. And Monarque wasn't used at all, nor would I consider it overpowered, as an aside.

    • Don't look like your poll is quite going as you expected. See in this game we would actually like to have some good weapons around not just grind our asses off to put them back in the vault next season. Nothing on the list was game breaking especially on console which is also a problem since the game is balanced to PC and just leaves most items as dog food on console.

      • No, if a weapon is overpowered it means it literally has 0 counters to it and is game breaking needing a nerf immediately. If a weapon is used a lot, it just means it a good weapon and maybe other weapons should keep up this trend of being good.

        • Nope. Overpowered relates to game breaking. Not good or best in class. There are presently zero overpowered weapons in D2. Bungie tries real hard to ensure this doesn’t occur. God bless them. Each and every one.

          • That is not the definition of overpowered, but that is usually the case

          • Generally yes, but not always. The halo 1 pistol was overpowered, but the sword in halo 2 I wouldn't say was op.

            • No, overpowered is like a dragonknight stam tank in Eso that can 1vX an entire zerg in cyrodiil.
