Why do people (including bungie) believe that destiny players are somehow so stupid that they are the only video game fans in the history of gaming that can't handle an optional matchmaking system?
Literally every single video game in gaming history (that has online multiplayer) has a matchmaking system for every mode, except for destiny.
Destiny players wouldn't be able to figure it out?
It speaks volumes on how they view their playerbase.

Not for raid and endgame, even look at division 2

Edited by Kanashimi510: 5/29/2019 1:08:41 AMNo other game has any online multiplayer content without an in game lfg or simple matchmaking feature. None.

Correction, none. Apart from destiny.

Thats just my observation from crucible and gambit. I could only imagine how it would be to raid with some of those rando commando's. But, if you are a good player and intelligent it still goes back around to why would you use match making when you can network with apps and websites and find other good players and communicate? It would be advantageous for you all the way around.
-
Because I for one, can’t stand using lfg. Most are no better than playing with randoms anyways. Why force me to do use third party apps to play? It’s ridiculous.
-
The Destiny app your probably typing on has a fireteam section that you can invite people to your fireteam right off the app. Used to be a real pain, but it’s so quick and painless on the appp now to find a team why wouldn’t you use it if your into end game activities?
-
I do. I only do lfg. Still hate it though 😂
-
Having the option is just good game design. Why limit people on the ways they have to enjoy the game? It's bad business. If people want to use a premade team, cool. Want to use lfg, cool. Want to use matchmaking, cool. Don't like an option here, don't use it. Bungie needs to stop limiting their players and let people play the game.

It’s honestly dumb to “have the option just to have it” Nobody who’s actually trying to complete difficult endgame uses matchmaking. Tier 3 reckoning. I’ve tried the matchmaking. It was a massive waste of time. In the time it took us to try, fail, try fail, and FINALLY succeed, for a BLUE, I could have completed it multiple times with a team. And now it’s not just 4 players, but 6? Hell no. Having it just for principle is flat out dumb and not something worth complaining about, especially when Bungie provides a entire LFG for Xbox and PS4.
-
It’s not “having it for the sake of having it”. Since every other tier has it, the argument could be made that they put more effort into removing for heroic tier than it would’ve taken to just leave it in and let people take their chances with it.

Not usually how coding works but sure

Edited by Kanashimi510: 5/28/2019 7:39:30 PMJust because some people wouldn't use it is no reason to not have it. It wouldn't take any extra work to implement this feature, and some players would actually use it. Not having it because of the elitist attitude some players have is stupid. There is zero argument for optional matchmaking other than not wanting others to have an option that you personally wouldn't use. Every single clear I have in tier 3 Reckoning was with random matchmaking. People do use the matchmaking features.
-
Yep. Never had a problem with reckoning tier 3 matchmaking, even if we had a couple of failures we just keep at it until the team gels and get it done.

Edited by Doctor_Roidberg: 5/28/2019 6:54:22 PMExtra effort on Bungie’s part that could be put to other purposes. Extra effort put in “just to have the option” despite the large majority of players not even using it. Extra effort that could be used elsewhere, and contributes very little, is wasted effort. No elitist attitude here.
-
I didn't mean to say that you specifically had an elitist attitude, sorry if it came across that way.

Edited by Doctor_Roidberg: 5/28/2019 7:12:54 PMIt’s cool. Just wanting to clarify I wasn’t trying to give a big middle finger to people, or even that I necessarily AGREE with matchmaking not being there, just the reason BUNGIE probably did it. If it wasn’t extra effort for wasted time then I wouldn’t really care but... dunno
