Why Graviton Lance is too strong

So, with Warmind Graviton Lance received one of the largest buffs in Destiny 2. It's perfectly fine in PvE, in fact, I think Whisper is the only problem, but that's simply because of the lack of power of other exotics, so it's NOT inherently Whisper itself there. The other exotics simply need buffed as long as Whisper retains the Black Hammer style version of White Nail. Graviton Lance is by far the most problematic weapon in PvP. Why is this? For starters, Graviton Lance is meant to be a hybrid Pulse/Scout Rifle. It's supposed to take strengths and weaknesses of both archetypes to balance it out. For example, having a slower rate of fire and a smaller magazine with higher min-max range. The problem with Graviton Lance is that it has ALL the pros with no cons. It acts like a scout rifle in all ways with the perks of having the reliability of a Pulse Rifle at mid-ranges AND being able to 'three burst' an enemy with crits. This effectively nullifies any pulse rifles or scout rifles being semi viable in your Energy slot as a side effect. Why have a scout that 4-taps when you can have one that 3-taps? Why have a pulse rifle that's effective at mid-range when you can have one that's effective at almost any range? Not to mention it has really strong stagger as well, so it essentially renders MIDA's niche useless, as speed isn't much to worry about in the current meta since you're not in much of a hurry to close gaps. The only other exotic weapons I see viable in the current meta are Crimson and Vigilance Wing, but they've always been viable because they're in a good spot. Graviton needs to either lose range or become a 4 burst kill. The current amount of power it has is too much. It's pushed MANY pulse and scouts out of viability. It needs some sort of weakness to make up for it being a hybrid weapon. Look at Crimson, it has the perks of a Hand Cannon and Pulse Rifle, but it doesn't have the reliability of a Pulse Rifle at ranges due to it's fire rate and recoil. It has weaknesses. Graviton Lance doesn't, and to make it even stronger, killing enemies gives it AoE damage. It never feels satisfying to get a kill with it, and it doesn't feel like it requires skill to use well, especially with the hand-holding stability and aim assist it has. Now, I made a poll, because I'd like to see what everyone else thinks.

    OMG just get over it. the sand box is changing in like 2 weeks. Then i'm sure you will find another reason your getting rocked in the crucible that has nothing to do with skill. These kind of post will have a sandbox full of broken weapons like D1, lets name everything nerfed in the ground by complainers : hand cannons Fushions Shotguns Snipers Auto riffles High caliber rounds Special ammo Heavy ammo The Truth The Vex The Thorn At the end of D1 we were left with side arms and stickies due to post like these contantly calling for nerfs. Your breaking the game, learn to adapt and STFU

      Simple solution to fixing it is to reduce the RPM. It's far too fast for its damage and accuracy, and due to it firing like scout rifle because it's a 2-round burst, it's far more forgiving than other pulse rifles. It should be a bit slower than a High Impact Pulse rifle. Of course, it doesn't even matter, because the sandbox is getting updated on the 28th--about a week from now. Everything will be brought up to its level.

    • Graviton is good because its the best counter to the hand holding meta. Sure its a 3 shot kill assuming you get headshots, but that goes for alot of heavy scout weapons.

      • It needs reduced range so that it has to 4 burst at long range. I have the masterwork and it three taps almost all the way across maps... I feel gross using it on people that aren’t using graviton lance. Hard to have fun using non meta weapons anymore since AT LEAST a couple people every match are using it.

      • I think asking for nerfs to a gun that in its current state likely wont even be close to meta in TWO WEEKS is absolutely absurd and the ramblings of idiots. Is graviton OP? Currently, yes, because it kills faster than most guns and had a very powerful exotic perk, but again the main reason it is so powerful is because in a straight gunfight it just plain kills faster than anything else in its effective range. In two weeks though, it will have a pretty average kill time, if not on the slower end (assuming it isnt buffed) and the only truly redeeming quality will be cosmology.

      • You know, I don't even care. I want them to nerf it into the ground. I normally don't ask for nerfs. But this thing is making Crucible staler than bread left out for a week. It's boring. I am tired of my K/D suffering because I have to compete against a gun with is nearly unbeatable. Why even have separate classes and skills when all you need is one gun? When I am using a Scout Rifle, I should not be outplayed by some asshat with their butt stuck to a wall like a starfish just spamming shots at longer ranges than any other gun. and the "no damage falloff", is too much. It's not fun having to run away from every engagement because someone has this stupid gun. And the fact that the only way to beat it is to use it is terrible and literally adds no variety to Crucible. I want to have fun, I want to use anything I want and win with skill, not use the easiest most broken thing all the time. It's promoting low skill gameplay and complete and utter laziness. Oh, and you can't even effectively strafe against it because it has increased aim assist and Hidden Hand. Not to mention that the Cosmology darts do a lot of damage. Too much for Crucible. I understand that it is supposed to stop teams from bunching up. But it goes too far if I just so happen to be close to a guy and I die from him dying by a guy on the other end of the map that no one knew was there. Now if you look at the gun as a whole, it is too powerful, I agree that it needs to be toned down. Pros: Max Stability, High Aim Assist, Hidden Hand, No Damage Fall Off, Holo Sights that highlight Enemy Targets, Cosmology that can insta-kill, 3-shot kill at any range and sometimes 2-shot kills. Can shoot around corners (this happens all the time to me) Doesn't flinch when hit by High Caliber Rounds. Causes massive flinch against Scout Rifles. Cons: Weak at close range. And I am judging this from my experience in Crucible, and I have over 26,000 kills in Crucible for only playing a few months.

      • Make its bullet damage spread more even so instead of 12-56 maybe like 24-44 because this would reduce its time to kill since it’s easier to shoot at the center of mass then the recoil bounces up to the head for 56 the same as my Polaris or any high impact scout
