Correct me if I’m wrong as I don’t have exact numbers but participation in Crucible has gone down day on day on day since change to 6v6. This is based on loose recollections from DestinyTracker of 500k or there abouts on Wednesday, 400k or there abouts on Thursday and 300k or there abouts on Friday.
If 6v6 is the Crucible “experience” that the community wanted, shouldn’t the numbers be going up?
This update appears at first glance to have not pulled back the community that left. Alienated those who stayed and enjoyed the 4v4 “experience” and now risks losing those too. Leaving an even smaller player base.
As an alternative, why is 5v5 not an option? It has more on the map but not as manic as 6v6. Can anyone see any reason why that wouldn’t work as I’m not a game designer so don’t understand logistics of it.
Numbers update:
Sunday
877k pve (probably due to Whisper)
388k pvp
Monday
822k pve
422k pvp

2 RepliesI just think it’s simply the fact that the maps in destiny two were not designed to be played in a 6v6 setting.

I mean 2 prestige raids (one that gives catalyst for sleeper stimulant) and a secret sniper quest dropped this week do imagine people are busy trying to beat those.

Was on vacation till yesterday.. logged in to do milestones. Finished with pvp... turned off the game after 3 minutes. My entire game would freeze on an encounter and then I would be dead. Every single time. The game can not handle it and when the game is already 30fps... any frame drop just makes it that much worse. Hopefully this is not the norm, and that I was just not fully awake to “pvp” in d2.

1 ReplyMatch making stinks. Who wants to play and just get their brains kicked in? I don’t. I enjoy playing against people with my skill level and reflexes. I’m 43. Getting stomped by someone younger with better eyes and quicker reflexes just isn’t fair. Like men’s league hockey. I want to play and have fun against people in my skill group. I’m not trying to make it to the NHL. What Bungie has created is crap.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. I didn't care for the notion of 6v6 and I don't think most who play a lot of pvp care for it. It is just a mess. Another aspect of the game they got correct that they now have wrong again. They got little right in D2 but player count in pvp was one of them and that is tough to say where you have 6 man activities so it is hard to keep players together when you are always asked for different counts. The drop is likely not due to that alone though. Couldn't be. The play experience and lag it brings may play a role though. I have noticed a ton more lag. I don't think that about 80% of those playing this game have good enough internet to play games online. Nice that they removed the connection tracking in the game....

I don't play pvp now that I've got all my characters to 385. I only played pvp to do the call to arms milestone and I don't need to do it anymore. Maybe others are doing the same.
-
People are sick of the bullshit so they're playing less
-
probably because more fireteams are on Lo chasing the Whisper...I know twitch viewers have doubled since Whisper
-
1 ReplyBut it was supposed to alleviate the team shooting meta. That’s what everybody that wanted it back said on the forums.
-
Been getting games faster since changing to 6v6.
-
4 RepliesMeh my stats are up since 6v6 was implemented...and I solo 90%.
-
This again? Who cares!
-
6 RepliesNot sure on the stats but crucible Is now off for me. 4-5 matches of non stop explosions and people everywhere. When I wanted mayhem, I’d play mayhem. I’ll just stop playing crucible. I think they’ve gone in the wrong direction.
-
It could be 6 v 6 or 10 v 10, there’s no incentive to play without random rolls.

Edited by Jvp WReNCh: 7/22/2018 3:23:40 AMThe numbers always go down over time, but the pve numbers have jumped up & the pvp numbers have gone down, presumably because of the whisper quest being discovered.

8 Replies6v6 is quintessential Destiny and I enjoy it. The Halo emulation era is coming to a close. -However- The sandbox is exceedingly stale. Weapons aside from vigilance wing have about 30-40% less damage rate than D1 equivalents. Also, players move slower in D2. All gear is static. I’d say most players are waiting for the big changes in the fall.
-
2 RepliesSo ask yourself, why didn't they implement 6vs6 AND 4vs4? D1 had more modes than D2! This is not a sequel.
-
Only forum babies wanted it. People who actually play the game regularly And don't visit the forums (the majority) don't. 6v6 sucks ass on tiny maps. Sure, my efficiency is skyrocketing but it's just not as fun.

Edited by A_mo: 7/22/2018 1:20:37 AMI don't think we can really judge how much people like or dislike the new quickplay based on 5 days of looking at the player count.

Or, People have been running prestige and whisper.
