I'll start by saying that I don't care about any replies to this. This is meant only for Bungie.
I cannot believe you would decide to kill one of the only characters in this game that actually has any real value. Sure, the others add to the story. But Cayde? Let me say that when playing through the game on different characters, the only cut-scenes I don't skip are the ones with Cayde. All of my friends who play Destiny with me do the same.
You can't be oblivious to how often you've managed to alienate your fans. I know it's been in different ways, but other companies are trying to copy what you do, and, you should know, I have no desire to continue playing now that Cayde will be dead, nor do many of the people I know who also play Destiny. I'm certain we're not the only ones. If this new Anthem game is as good as the hype says it will be so far, it really could be the Destiny killer. It's certainly a LOT more likely now that you had to make the numbskull decision to kill Cayde. People keep talking about Anthem being the Destiny killer, and I keep saying "no, it won't." Now, my opinion on that is definitely different.

1 ReplyI would not at all be surprised if Nathan Fillion wants out of his contract. This game’s reputation, regardless of if you agree with it or not, is in the shit. If I were him I’d want disassociated with the franchise.

3 RepliesEdited by Darth Lunchbox: 6/13/2018 3:40:45 PMBy the end of the campaign, Cayde 6 will probably be rebuilt as Cayde 7, I'm guessing. May be a different voice actor as well.

1 ReplyI think the reason they killed him is BECAUSE he has value. Nobody really cares about ikora or zavala so I mean, what can you expect? It's a way to give players a desire to kill that blue scumbag. Every post on this forum for zavala or ikora would have just been "Oh noooooo...who cares" As for your crap on anthem, it's not going to kill Destiny. They play too differently but have a similar design. Does anybody on this forum even care about anthem besides the fact it might "kill destiny?" All's I can say is this: Hopefully they don't -blam!- up anthem.

They could delete most NPCs in Destiny and provided there was a kiosk in the same spot that took tokens and dispensed stuff it’d probably be a few weeks before most players noticed that something was different. After that people would probably praise the kiosk’s greater character development and personality and be upset if they killed off the kiosk to bring say Zavala back.
-
You dummies need to realize that the reason why they chose Cayde, is because he IS THE MOST LIKED CHARACTER in the game. That is how they are trying to make a darker turn with the story. Good lord how can people be so dense?!
-
1 ReplyIs he really like...dead dead tho? Like he won't come back? If so I'd feel bad about the jokes I've been making.
-
1 ReplyYeah, kill off the most liked character instead of the stick-up-their-asses characters of Zavala and Ikea.
-
1 ReplyThey got the exact reaction they wanted by killing Cayde. He’s one of my favourite characters and I was legitimately pissed that he died and I still am. It’s also a marketing tool used to sell more, and it works.
-
They need it...they -blam!-ed to much already. They need to giv us a reason to care for the world. Cayde dieing js the best fuel for the flame. Its sucks yeah...he was the joker. But ending are always the start of a new beginning. Lets just see if they can pull it off. Who knows gambit might take his place or 5hat guy from the concept art.

3 RepliesEdited by ill skillz: 6/14/2018 12:05:41 PMF#CK!!!! <<< spoiler alert would have been nice in the title. There is a special place in hell for people who post spoilers. Sorry but sincerely edit posts to say spoiler alert( aimed at the OP.) I understand you are mad - but spoilers and advertising on the forums is hard to miss. P!$$ off with that shite .

5 Repliesnot only that, but to ruin one of the main stories of your big DLC by releasing a massive spoiler 3 MONTHS OUT FROM THE RELEASE OF IT. Just when i thought i couldn't dislike bungie any more, they go and spoil a massive aspect of the story 3 months early. I can't take this company anymore.
-
i think its a bad decision after this DLC. because he was the only interesting character in this game because he actually was different from all the other characters who all act exactly the same with their long winded dialogue that goes nowhere and robot like expressions (funny how the robot in this game is the least robot like character in this game". so that means we get more stories like curse of osiris and the warmind dlc stories... uggggg

5 RepliesEdited by Enochua: 6/14/2018 12:48:27 AMi can respect wanting to express your opinion, and also no t wanting to say any further on the subject. but do you realize that they had to kill off Cayde simply because the guy who voiced him isnt coming back to voice him. We dont want a dinkle bot situation again, do we?

1 ReplyEdited by ILoveI6v6I: 6/13/2018 10:11:31 PMCayde is the only character we actually care about. The only want we would want to avenge. That's why he had to be the one to die. No other character has emotion or depth. Nobody would really care if anyone else at the tower died. I'm sure they'll bring him back eventually, or even immediately (probably at the end of the story missions)

5 RepliesKilling a bad character is never a bad decision

5 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 6/13/2018 12:15:06 PMThey may not have really had a choice. Apparently Fillion is gearing up to start another TV series. So they might have found themselves losing access to him as a voice actor. Like they did Dinklage when Game of Thrones took off. There is both an upside, and a downside to using such recognized talent as voice actors in your game..... ...they're in demand.

Any word from Nathan Fillion?

4 RepliesKnowing Destiny in the past, Cyde is probably going to be rebuilt somehow, they don't like to kill major NPCs off. The only major NPCs that have been killed off are maybe Eris and probably the queen.
-
2 RepliesYeah, I agree. If he’s really gone, which I think he is, it made me wonder this...if Destiny 2 had been great upon release, and sold well, been received well, etc, do you think they would’ve killed Cayde? No, my guess is no. It’s a big swing effort, and I respect it, but had the game been doing well, I don’t think they would’ve killed him.
-
5 RepliesI agree 100%. Cayde was the npc that people wanted to actually play with, in a fireteam. Killing him was designed to do one thing: elicit an emotional response from the players such that they would want to "do it for Cayde." And this time the fancy gear (Cayde's Stash) can be acquired from preorder of ANY version of the game, not just the deluxe. They are desperate and this is a last ditch effort to sell their over priced expansion. Fuck you Bungie. Fuck you.
-
Agreed, dumb decision.

1 ReplyNot really because to make a story, you need some form of suspense or tense feeling especially for a revenge plot. For example half of Naruto shippuden people were specifically waiting for the revenge battle between sasuke and itachi.

In order to create a story that will get the players invested, they took a risk, and they killed cayde. It was a necessary evil. Just because they killed one character doesn't mean the game is dead. It bring motivation. And might I add, it will probably bring game-wide character development, something cayde didn't even really have. I mean, even uldrin has the possibility of being one of the best villains ever. The community is already out for blood. Have you seen any other villain do this? All in all, you don't leave after they kill your favorite character in a series. And if you think this is bad, go give game of thrones a try. ;)
I cannot believe you would decide to kill one of the only characters in this game that actually has any real value.
This is why they did it. You wouldn't care as much if they killed Zavala or Ikora. They wanted us to care about it.

Umm they pr0bably couldnt afford to keep paying the voice actor bro...destiny 2 is jot doing so hot...kaybe in the future they can bring em back...most likely rhough it is because they cant pay him to voice cayde. You kno they pay that guy loads of cash.
