So I have some questions before I consider getting this game (this game may actually be the closest thing to my dream game).
1. Do revolvers have infinite ammo? I noticed in gameplay that there was no visible ammo counter and the guy just kept on reloading.
2. Is there any punchy kicky combat?
3. The combat is real time this time? I know past FF games had turn based combat, and I'm very familiar with that kind, but I prefer real time.
4. The new update lets you play as all 4 of the friends?
5. What is, even, the story? I heard all FF games have a different story, but the blonde guy with the huge sword always appears. Who is he? Why were there Templar looking dudes with guns in the trailer?
The omen trailer is based on the scrapped script of the original game?
Noctis dude doesn't actually kill woman like it looked like in trailer?
Who is Noctis, cook dude, tough looking one, and blonde guy with a huge impractical sword?
Why is there a kingdom collapsing?
What is this kingdom?
Why on Wikipedia does it say the king was killed then plot shenanigans then 4 dudes having nice trip then blah blah they save world blah blah what?
6. I heard you can unlock free roam driving?
7. What are those 4 main skills like cooking fishing etc? And how does the rubber band trick work for the running one to get more xp? Why do they take so long to upgrade?
8. The game goes from open world to linear. Can you go back to free roam?
I might have more but this it for now. Thank you in advance.

1 ReplyEdited by dova spook: 12/17/2017 1:08:45 AM1. Yes 2. No (unfortunately, but I can't say I'm unhappy about that) 3. Yes, it's real time combat with an option for Wait Mode if you prefer to think your combat options through. 4. Yes the update lets you to switch to Gladio, Ignis, or Promto during combat, you switch back to Noctis once the battle is finished. 5. The story, at its core, is Noctis and his friends seek the Power of Kings to retake control of their home from the Empire. Noctis is heir to the throne of Lucis, as well as the Ring of the Lucii, and is able to wield magic without aid of the Crystal due to a near-death experience from his childhood. His destiny is to dispel the darkness, and most of the story revolves around him accepting his duty. He's also a fishing enthusiast, and fortunately, it's an entertaining mini game. Cook dude is Ignis, Noctis's care taker. He is also the party's' tactician and healer/dragoon/spell blade. His meals provide temporary stat boosts. The big guy is Gladio, Noctis's personal bodyguard and combat trainer. His Survival ability can acquire helpful items after battles. The tough guy with impractical sword is Cloud, but he is not in FFXV; Promto, however, looks a lot like him. Unlike Ignis and Gladio, Prompto is not royalty; but is a childhood friend to Noctis from school (a prince goes to public school?). He takes photos of the adventure which is surprisingly impactful. The kingdom is occupied by the Imperial army, and the Crystal is stolen. The nights are getting longer, the daemons more aggressive, and a villains' plan is at long last coming to fruition. Lucis is the kingdom that is supported by the Crystal, a gift from the gods that grants the king great power, great prosperity, and brings Light to the world. Frankly, the story is a mess; but what sets off the chain of events is the Empires' sudden aggression against neighboring kingdoms and lust for power, namely the Crystal. King Regis of Lucis knows he can't protect Insomnia for much longer, using the Crystal to provide a magic barrier has drained his vitality and aged him far beyond his years. So he sent his son out the city and entrusts Noctis's friends with his safety. 6. Yes, the Regalia can be turned into an off-road vehicle. Yes, it does get linear with an option of going back to the open world portion to finish side quests and explore.

So I have some questions before I consider getting this game (this game may actually be the closest thing to my dream game). 1. Do revolvers have infinite ammo? I noticed in gameplay that there was no visible ammo counter and the guy just kept on reloading.
Yes.
2. Is there any punchy kicky combat?
Not really, just swords, guns, and magic.
3. The combat is real time this time? I know past FF games had turn based combat, and I'm very familiar with that kind, but I prefer real time.
Yes, the combat is real-time based in Action Mode, but there is also a Wait Mode that pauses combat whenever you stand still, which is pretty useful.
4. The new update lets you play as all 4 of the friends?
Not yet. The Comrades DLC lets you play as a Kingsglaive, who possess roughly the same powers as Noctis and crew. The thing is, since you’re a Kingsglaive, you’re not confined to Gladio, Prompto, Ignis, or Noctis. You can customize your Kingsglaive however you want.
5. What is, even, the story? I heard all FF games have a different story, but the blonde guy with the huge sword always appears. Who is he? Why were there Templar looking dudes with guns in the trailer?
Ok, I can’t say much about this without spoiling the story, but here’s the basics:
Noctis is the prince of the small kingdom of Insomnia. The country to the north of them (don’t remember their name) is at war with them. This “empire” assaults Insomnia and crushes it. Noctis and his friends manage to escape, and Noctis takes it upon himself to meet up with Lunafreya, who is the Oracle, and take down the “empire.” I’m not going to spoil who the guy with the giant sword is, but the Templar looking guys are just the empire soldiers.

The omen trailer is based on the scrapped script of the original game?
I don’t know about this one, I never watched any trailers for it.
Noctis dude doesn't actually kill woman like it looked like in trailer?
Well...
No. The only woman he actually threatens is a mercenary.

Who is Noctis, cook dude, tough looking one, and blonde guy with a huge impractical sword?
Noctis is the Crown Prince of Insomnia. Ignis is the royal family cook and is one of the guys that accompanies Noctis on the adventure. I don’t know what you mean by “tough-looking dude,” but I assume you mean Prompto, the photographer that is Noctis’s best friend. The guy with the huge sword is Gladiolus, or Gladio. He trains the Kingsglaive, I believe.
Why is there a kingdom collapsing? What is this kingdom?
Play the game. It explains this.
Why on Wikipedia does it say the king was killed then plot shenanigans then 4 dudes having nice trip then blah blah they save world blah blah what?
Never trust Wikipedia. Play the game to clarify.
6. I heard you can unlock free roam driving?
Yep.
7. What are those 4 main skills like cooking fishing etc? And how does the rubber band trick work for the running one to get more xp? Why do they take so long to upgrade?
The 4 skills the friends have pertain to the different gameplay aspects. Gladio’s survivalist skills help you get bonus items after battles. Ignis’s cooking skills unlock better meals. Noctis’s fishing skills make it easier to catch bigger and better fish, which can be turned into ingredients for meals. And Prompto’s photography skill unlocks more photo options for recording memories within the game. The only rubber band trick that exists right now is one that requires an upgrade for you car that gives it infinite gas, which is only obtainable fairly late into the story. And the reason they take so longer to upgrade is because they’re easy to upgrade. It’s very simple.
8. The game goes from open world to linear. Can you go back to free roam?
Yes, it just requires paying attention to roles of characters. You’ll know what I mean when you get there.
I might have more but this it for now. Thank you in advance.
You’re welcome. Hope you have fun.

4 RepliesEdited by Ekaterine: 12/13/2017 6:05:18 PMWaiting to play the dlc till it all comes out so I can only tell you about the base game. 2. Mostly swords with a little bit of guns 3. Yes it is in real time 4. Yes you can now switch between all 4 5. Trying to reclaim your kingdom, it really is that simple, villain is not your typical one 6. Yes, after the main story 7. Fishing levels up from catching fish, it makes you better at catching harder fish, cooking levels up from making food at fires and unlocks better recipes, photography naturally levels up and unlocks new filters, and survival levels up from walking around and lets you find rarer items from combat 8. Yes, after the story ends it pulls you back to right before it became linear

2 Replies1. Guns have infinite ammo with the exception of the guns you can use in Prompto's DLC. 2. I think if you use daggers, you an do some kicks, but most of the attacks are with the daggers. 3. Real time combat 4. Yes. Not sure how you d it, haven't played the update yet. 5. Without spoiling anything. Your kingdom is in danger form the bad guys who want to bring demons into the world and take over. 6. Yes. I think you just have to talk to Cindy and you should unlock the option to do it from the start. 7. The skills don't really do anything, but cooking. Better meals give better buffs. 8. About half way though the game it becomes linear, but you can go back to the open world at one point and the game says how to do so.

3 RepliesEkaterine nailed it, just gonna add a couple things. -Revolvers do have infinite ammo - The blonde with the big sword you were talking about is Cloud, the main character from FFVII. He only properly appears in 7, but makes plenty of cameos in other games due to 7's popularity. He isn't in 15.
