UNSC vs Red Legion
The human UNSC military from Halo or the "undefeated" Red Legion of the Cabal. It's been on my mind for a while and I wanted to know what others thought.
This is pre-halo 4 so No Spartan IVs.
Edit: to specify: pre halo 4 means after humanity has rebuilt from the covenant war but hasn't discovered Requiem yet

I think in Destiny all comparable races are much further advanced than in the Halo universe. The Cabal, whilst they may not seem so tough to us, would definitely destroy the Halo universe UNSC. “Everything is becoming more ruthless and in the end only the most ruthless will remain (LOOK UP AT THE SKY) and they will hunt the territories of the night and extinguish the first glint of competition before it can even understand what it faces or why it has transgressed.”

Neither. In my opinion it would most likely result in a tie. While the UNSC have MAC cannons, The Red Legion do have a super weapon that destroys suns. The cabal would most likely kill themselves and the UNSC using the star destroyer to ensure their enemy will not claim victory... But, if we think to Halo Wars 2, the professor did take a halo (even though it was then taken over by Cortana if you got the legendary endings, so thus we will pretend it didn't), and also the Spirit of Fire which brings back many of the Gen 2 Spartans. This is more of a 'Who is willing to unleash weapons of mass destruction first' scenario, and also if the UNSC is allowed to have the many Fore Runner weapons and stuff they have been able to get, and when you are basing the question on in the Halo timeline. But I would say it would result in a tie, or the UNSC winning, as they could easily MAC the star destroyer thing before the cabal could fire.

Red legions ships don't seem to have regenerating Shields, so I'm pretty sure a MAC will take down their ships. Even with only the Spartan IIIs and the few active Spartan IIs, insertion teams would also be just as or more effective than our guardians.

Without that specified, we either have a humanity on the brink of extinction mounting a desperate defense, a "triumphant" humanity in the process of rebuilding after 25 years of genocidal war to kill them all, or a UNSC with little experience in combat with a rather large amount of ships and troops and the industrial might of 400? (Is that right? Been a while since I looked at the world count the UNSC had before the Human-Covenant War.) worlds. and inbetween that is a declining scale of might from Pre- and Post-Harvest UNSC. Anyway, saying the UNSC was at their peak and fighting the Red Legion- I imagine it would go fairly similarly to the Human-Covenant War, actually. The Cabal have a marked technological advantage in shielding technology even compared to the Covenant as displayed by the energy projection shields their Phalanx are equipped with. Combine that with world and star destroying monstrosities like the Almighty and Leviathan, and the UNSC is gonna have a bad time before even a minor victory is achieved. Edit: and that's not even accounting for their vehicles, like Interceptors, Goliaths, and Land Tanks. Cerberus Vae III ring any bells? No? Valus Ta'Aurc might. 10 RepliesAlright I’m going to put something in perspective for you. 1. The UNSC almost lost the war with the Covenant, and most of their fleets they tangled with were quite small. 2. The Red Legion has better technology, and probably just as good tactics 3. A Red Legionary would kill a marine in like 3 seconds due to their physical prowess 4. The cabal have the almighty, which could be used to snuff out entire UNSC fleets 5. Sure the UNSC have Spartans, but they might loose too because all they have are energy shields and hyper active skills, which is still beaten by maybe a full battalion of cabal In my opinion, the Red Legion would win

4 RepliesThat really depends, what type of fight would it be? If it was in space, the Battle would be a quick victory for UNSC, im not sure of the offensive capabilities of the Cabal ships, but like the UNSC, i was fairly sure the cabal used nukes as main battle options. The UNSCs' MAC cannons have the range to take them out before that even becomes a problem. On the ground? Its a bigger toss up, the Cabal seem to use very attrition based tactics and the UNSC seem to use very thought out and tactical plans to overcome their opponents. The weapons the UNSC use might not even puncture their armor... Nerding out here... But the MA5B Assault Rifle the UNSC use is using either 5.56 or 7.62 rounds. The pistol they use is firing .45 rounds. And the cabal use small rockets as ammunition. It isnt as landslidish as one may think. But i think the UNSC would win, based on the tactics, however,the cabal would take the lead in many battles before the humans of the UNSC would adapt and start winning.

The uncs at its full power? They rekt the red legion. Mac cannons will rip cabal ships apart like they were nothing.
