Increase max fireteam size when exploring to 6.

It's a pain having to limit the fireteam to 3 people when grinding public events.

  • I agree! I got a group of around 8 friends it is uncommon for only 2 other people to be around at a time. In these cases I can tell you what we don't do. We don't play destiny 2. We play any other game that allows for parties of 4 or more. It's not just hurting our enjoyment of destiny it's hurting our want to play it. Sure it's fun as hell when you only got three people but if you make more friends and meet new people it becomes harder and harder to say. "sorry man, can't play with you party is full."

  • What is the actual size for a fireteam anyway? Patrols limit it to 3, crucible allows 4 and the raid requires 6. How am I suppose to keep a steady team if all the activities keep splitting us up into different subsets?

  • You have troubles with getting heroic with fireteams of 3? The only thing you can do is just get better at the game. 3 is plenty.

    • Although this is a nice idea but unfortunately increasing the max size to such a large number is just unreasonable. Each instance can only hold around 8 people in it at once and although loading into the first area all together would cause no issues but once you start roaming is when issues occur. Once you or a fireteam member would change zones the instance of that zone would have to reserve 5 spots for the rest of the team. Limiting randoms joining to 2 and will cause a need for more instances which will put more stress on the severs. Now let's say each member is in a different zone, that's 6 instances that is now limited to a max of 3 people until your fireteam joins one of those zones, it will also worsen the experience for the randoms because the zones will seem empty. If (because I'm not 100% sure what the limit is) the limit for instances is 6 then that means that your fireteam has a private instance wherever you go, which again means more instances, more instances means more stress on the server. They could probably increase to a maximum of 4 for patrol and bring back some 6v6 crucible but realistically that's it.

    • D1.5 has no dedicated servers and a prehistoric engine, so the game can't handle more then 3👎🏻

      • I see so many replies against this saying"we would destroy public events in seconds which is true, but could be fixed so we couldn't. Most of the public events are in low level areas which makes a lot of us higher level people wrecking crews in 3 man fireteams. Other games that have public type events either make you manually choose to level sync (final fantasy xiv does this) or automatically syncs you to event level(neverwinter does this) to keep high level people from ruining the experience of the event for lower level people.

              • Even if they don't allow friends to be in your fire team, at least allow them to join the same instance. There's ways Bungie can get around having friends join directly but either they can't think of a way or just won't do it.

              • Welcome to Destiny the oxymoron of social games! It was almost 30 years ago now that I was playing Gauntlet 2, four player co-op on an NES. Also Bungie's previous two games both had 4 player co-op. So it's really baffling to see Destiny limit so many of it's activities to only 3 players. It's sad that this was asked for since day one of the first Destiny, and as always there will be no response to this post by any Bungie employee.

              • Wouldn't mind the limit going to 6 but 6 also isn't needed. It's fairly easy one manning much of it, 3 man can easily be overkill depending.

              • The game probably can't handle that many players in one space, think of all the other teams that would go in six deep. As much as I would like more in patrol it just doesn't seem possible.

                • Agreed. With more players, public events can scale to much bigger fights. Having more players makes the heroic events easier to trigger as you aren't fighting against the blueberries to trigger it in time. That said, I have noticed some frame drops (even a few crashes) during glimmer drill and walker tank heroic events. Increasing the scaling and number of players firing space magic may cause an increase in game instability.

                  • I 270 something this idea, even if you keep the 3 for for the other activities, i can't understand why you don't give us the option to roll with our clans/friends more than 2 at a time. Most of us normally talk to the same people we run raids with. I'm normally in a chat party with 5-8 other people, and we're all stuck splitting into groups of three, when we're all running around doing the same thing. If you increased the patrol fire team to the raid specs, it would be allot easier for clans to run together doing more things together.
