I want to create this topic to talk about the lack of knowledge on how to make certain exotics the most effective and efficient.
I will be Posting builds in this topic showing what Armor, Weapon, and Perks work really well together. P
Using the Spoiler feature so this isn't a text wall, each build will have its own spoiler tab
After playing warframe and understanding their complex modding system and how certain mods feed off of each other to make you stronger i realize that the same concept can be applied to Destiny with its exotics and weapons. Also in this realization, i understand that a huge portion of the destiny community has no idea that these combos exist. Please know that every exotic may have multiple combinations across different subclasses and weapons may have combos across characters, and with the new artifacts in place because of ROI i will be trying to incorporate those into these builds as well. Some of these will be PVE based and some will be PVP based, but all in a better effort to understand what exactly is in our armory.
I will try to do one build a day and feature a community build on Xurday
If you have any suggestions or would like for me to do a specific exotic please message me on here or Xbox One using the gamertag above.
Disclaimer: I will NOT be reading every comment so if I post a build that you've posted in the comments feel free to take credit if you must but it was probably a coincidence. If i take your build on purpose i will definitely credit you as the maker of the build. This Post is about spreading knowledge not plagiarism.

Name: UnDying
Exotic armor: Apotheosis veil
Exotic Weapon: Red Death
Subclass: Voidwalker
Artifact: Skorri
IDS spread: Use discipline, strength and intellect evenly. (or to your preference doesnt effect the build that much)
Perks: Life Steal, The Hunger, Embrace the void. ( i recommend axion bolt, and max recovery )
This is one of my favorite builds in all of Destiny and a good one to start this post off. By using this combinations of perks it means that any kill you get with any of your abilities trigger the lifesteal effect so you start the regeneration of your health. This is my Go To for raiding because i dont need to waste my super on self-rez instead i can just pop my nova bomb and get all of my health back using the perks assuming i kill something. However if you need to do damage to something and the nova bomb wont kill it the apotheosis veil will fill up your health as soon as you cast nova bomb. also you have the red death constantly giving you your health back when you kill addz. So when you do use this i suggest you use a sniper for boss DPS and save your heavy, primary and abilities for killing addz and keeping yourself alive. This also allows for more orb generation for your team mates than using self rez. the artifact i chose is skorri so your team can build super off of you, if you would like to save your super for a panic button otherwise if you plan on spamming nova bombs i would use Jolder but that is personal preference. Nova Bombs will one shot void captains in the WoM Raid assuming you are on level ( Only tested in normal mode).
NAME: ORBS GALORE
EXOTIC ARMOR: NO BACKUP PLANS
EXOTIC WEAPON: UNIVERSAL REMOTE
SUBCLASS: DEFENDER
PERKS: GIFT OF LIGHT, GIFT OF THE VOID , IRON HARVEST
ARTIFACT: Any that gives orbs off of melee kills, if not i would use Jolder for faster paced gameplay
IDS SPREAD: use as much strength as possible to keep force barrier activations constant
Description: This setup is how you make your teammates love you. Everything about this set up is focused on one thing, making orbs. By using the melee ability gift of light and no backup plans(make force barrier last longer for more time to make orbs) and a universal you can kill an enemy with your universal (which procs force barrier) and then proceed to punch your way through the rest of the enemies and each kill will be generating an orb. If an enemy is too strong for your melee simply hit them with a universal shot and finish them with the melee to create the orb. If the enemy is too strong for that combo the perk iron harvest will allow you to use your heavy weapon and still create orbs, ( i recommend a sword and sniper due to the close range nature of the class, the efficient management of heavy ammo that a sword offers and the ability to do boss DPS with the sniper) finally your super will allow you to push forward and create a safe zone for your fire team and any incoming damage will again generate more orbs for your team. Now this combo doesn't necessarily need to be the universal remote, it also will work with the invective and lord of wolves shotguns is you would like to change up the game play, but i find that using the universal allows for the use of a sniper for boss DPS which is this class's greatest weakness assuming you ran with a legendary or other exotic shotgun. This setup is best paired with a super spamming teammate for maximum damage output as well as creating orbs themselves for your bubble. Super spam builds will be coming out in the future
Hunters: your turn :) ( Dont forget to submit your builds to be posted here; Must use something from Xur's inventory! Private message me on xbox or here with your builds to submit)
Name: JOHN CENA
Exotic Armor: Dont Touch Me
Exotic Weapon: Patience and Time
Subclass: Bladedancer
Perks: Shadow jack, escape artist, Stalker, Vanish (
Artifact: Preference ( I like Gheleon)
Description: This setup goes way back for me, Its what i used to use for soloing the lamps in the first part of the Crota raid when I was under-leveled. So obviously the whole point of this build is to maximum the time that you are invisible. Invisibility will proc when, you melee an enemy with full melee energy, crouch in place for a time, remain ADS with the patience in time, take a melee hit from an enemy, activate your super or click the fire button (RT/R2?) while in your super. I find this build most effective when enemies are too strong for me to deal with or too strong for my team to deal with, by being constantly invisible you wont have to worry about being hit. This allows you to sneak past high level enemies in strikes, go for those hard to get charges in the vosik encounter in WoM. Obviously not the MOST team oriented build and not team oriented at all if there is no revives ( Ex: Hard mode raid). Still really fun to use and super effective in the right hands. Some alternatives would be running crest of alpha lupi for reviving people but you wont proc invisibility for getting hit with a melee attack, And patience and times invisibility effect restrict your movement so if you're not staying still ( EX: trying to regen health) and just trying to sneak past enemies then it might not be the most useful for you. I still really like this build over all. Remember "you cant see me" Guardians
Sunsinger PvE build. By @ShakraKhan

My name is byf did a video on this so credit to him.
Warlock
Subclass: sunsinger
Perks:
Fusion grenades!!!
Flame shield
Self Rez
Touch of flame
Viking funeral
Stats: Max discipline is a must.
Weapons:
Tlaloc
Any sniper
Any heavy
Armor:
Must have Starfire Protocol
Gloves with grenade throw distance
Memory of skorri
Here are the synergies of the build
The build requires you to sit on your super 90% of the time. This allows you to
1. Always have a self Rez available if needed.
2. Memory of skorri is active 90% of the time to help your allies.
3. Tlaloc overflow is active 90% of the time giving you insane primary DPS capabilities. Also Tlalocs intrinsic perk is grenadier which is good for the next part of the build.
The main part of this build is having 2 fusion grenades using Starfire with max discipline and tlaloc. This allows you to constantly have 2 grenades ready. A fusion grenade thrown at a boss with touch of flame and Viking funeral causes that boss to take 15% more damage per grenade (stacks 3 times). So being able to throw 2 nades giving your team 30% more damage for a few seconds EVERY DAMAGE PHASE is amazing. This is my raid setup.
I have a good combo for Stormcallers. Any weapon combo, but best with agility +2 Any helmet with grenade kill boosts to super energy Claws of Ahamkara - use melee speed boost Any arc subclass boosting body armor Any boots with arc double down Any bond Skorri or Jolder artifact. Depends on if you want to boost the team, or yourself. The goal is to have a tier 5 strength, and as much intellect as possible. Set subclass to: Storm grenade, balanced glide, superconductor, lightening storm or chain lightening (both great), arcane force, feedback, divine order, and perpetual charge. This combo allows you to take a lot of damage, while not sacrificing too much speed. This is important because you'll be using melee a LOT. Everytime you kill an enemy with melee, your grenade is charged. The melee is powerful, so it's easy to do. Throw the grenade as soon as you get it, and get super energy from the kills. You also get super energy from the melee kills. The super charges so fast, you can easily get 3 - 5 super charges in a crucible match. Those that have used stormtrance with advanced chaining abilities know how fun and powerful the super is. On non PvP levels, it's nonstop lightening chains from melees, grenades, and supers. You'll barely shoot the guns once you get the hang of it. Have fun!

For raiding my personal setup has always been a primary of choice normally pulse or scout with a high/mid impact sniper with thunder Lord as my exotic weapon.for my build Ingo for a high intell an str my discipline normally being at tier 1 while the others at 5. For armor I spot the full raid gear from wrath of the machines with the helm changed for the taikonut as my exotic armor for perks on gear I run the helm for bonus super from Heavy kills. Arms are for bonus sniper reload. Chest is for bonus sniper ammo and void subclass armor. The boots I run machine gun ammo an a bonus to arc double kills for agility. For artifact I run the memory of skorri for the arc precision kills generate orbs of light this paired with the thunder Lord an iron harvest is a lot of orbs. Also on the bubble I run gift of the void so damage will cause the bubble to generate more orbs

2 RepliesBoss Destroyer Exotic Armor: Ruin Wings Exotic Weapon: Dark Drinker Class: Titan Subclass: Defender You only need to use Armor of Light. +Step 1: Pop your bubble on top of any strike boss. +Step 2: Use Dark Drinker's heavy attack until ammo is expended or boss is dead. If all guardians use Dark Drinker effect is multiplied significantly. Some bosses will require precise bubble placement.

Great post.

9 RepliesDoesn't need any exotics, but I have been playing sunsinger on my Titan, and no that isn't a typo. Sunbreaker with simmering flame, and max discipline specifically in a game mode with catapult modifier or a mayhem crucible. When using incendiary grenades the cool down is fast enough that you can throw a second grenade before the first one explodes.

Edited by LiquidSnail: 10/22/2016 6:27:57 AMTitan: Striker PvE/PvP Exotics: Thagomizers and Monte Carlo Spec: flash bang, control, shock wave, overload, codex 1(top), transfusion, codex 5middle), unstoppable. Overview: -Thagomizers allow you to have two melee perks, amplify gives you tons of super energy on charged melee kill, and overload speeds up your melee recharge and chance to reset melee charge on kill/hit. 100% Str gives you 8sec recharge 5-6 charged melee kills you will have your super, spend super on whatever you want and repeat, up to you if you want full int or disp I tend to max Str/Int and wear orbs to nade helm because your melee recharges so fast and orbs will feed to my nades from the helmet, and max Int shaves down time on super when I'm paired with others making orbs. Monte Carlo to fill in the gap when your melee is filling or you don't get a kill/reset. Bonus tweaks: when fighting tough bosses/walkers they have knock backs so to counter this and do high damage, use pulse nades, aftermath for super. Your goal is to not focus on boss/walker just seek enemy's weaken them enough so you will kill with charged melee get 5-6 throw nade at boss/walker once super'd engage boss/walker but wait until they try to stomp/knock back than use super, you will take no damage because you have unstoppable and won't get thrown back your aftermath will sit on them than you go seek out more enemy's until full and repeat, three rotations and walkers are toast. Have the mindset that you are the weapon punch everything and use weapons when you must kill something also Monte Carlo is used to fill melee for gaps in its charge, no enemy's to kill than empty mags until melee is ready and burst/pulse Carlo and punch once enemy is within melee kill range. Have fun.

Edited by LiquidSnail: 10/22/2016 6:28:37 AMTitan: Defender PvE my #1 best load out Leader of the Pack Exotics: Crest of Alpha Lupi Invective Stats: 100% Int/disp Spec: magnetic nades/control jump/blessing of light/gift of light/codex 1(top)/gift of void/codex 5(middle)/improved blessings Gear/armour: -Helmet: orbs to nade energy -Arms: mostly AR reload speed, SG close second -Chest: alpha lupi with AR/SG ammo roll with increased armour from Void class -Legs: SG ammo with any elemental double kill Weapons: -Primary: mostly ARs with high RoF like arminus-d -Special: Invective because it will always have ammo and when you run low keep it to one round in mag to get the bonus perk, you'll save ammo allowing it to regan and hit harder. -Heavy: any sword because they are the best for cost to damage ratio. -Artifact: extra orb on void nade or Song of Skorri Summary of this setup: I mostly use this when playing alongside two other Titans so each one of us feed into the other to chain/loop our abilities between us. Taking all this into account full int brings your recharge on super to 3:40mins when close to someone using Skorri you can get your super back in 1:40mins and that's not including what you get from orbs. Bubbles give orbs and blessing of light to always be able to fight, we space out our bubbles so one is always down, picking up orbs feed your nades. Always try to use your nades before placing a bubble so you'll reset that node and be able to collect orbs to feed your nades. In my time using and understanding how to push Defender to its limits, Int/Disp is the most useful of the 3 stats, it allows you to always have the fastest nades and supers to feed orbs to others, Full Str is the weaker of the to for this spec due to blessing overriding your barrier if you take too much damage. Use ARs to weaken most enemy's and melee kill them when you have barrier active. This is my preferred load out for most activities when I'm teamed up with my brother, it allows us to chain supers in turn feeding the others super and nades while always having a bubble active and we use call outs like "shielding" when I'm placing a bubble or "shield" when I want the other to place one, that way we don't both use bubbles causing a trip up on our rotation. When there are enemy's to melee we allow whoever has a active barrier to be the one to melee them until theirs is depleted/down, when one of us place a bubble we set it up to allow the most line of sight so enemy's will attack the bubble to trigger gift of void so all 5orbs(6 total with lupi) 3 on bubble use, and 3 more when it takes enough damage. Most of the load out can be charged for whatever type of engagement you are facing this is what me and two other Titan employ and tweak in one way or another, if this has given you a better understanding of Defender or you'd like to see other types of set ups we employ let me know and I'll write up more.

Titan: Defender No back up plan Monte Carlo Shotgun Sword Orbs to melee energy helm -full str and either int/disp up to you and your style, helm that gives more melee nrg from orbs. - any nade but maybe spike because you don't have to worry about hurting yourself. -armour of light, gift of light, relentless, unbreakable or iron harvest. This will layer your abilities so when armour of light is used it will reset our melee/nades and protect your barrier from dropping, max str so as long as barrier is up it will continue into the next loop, Monte Carlo for if/when barrier is taken out or lag/gap in its recharge, and if all else fails sword with iron harvest to still make orbs if you lose barrier.
-
Night stalker Hunter Primary: Monte Carlo Special: Anything Heavy: Anything Exotic Armour: Fr0sr-EE5 IDS spread: 0/5/5 Artifact: Memory of Felwinter Class Set Up: •Smoke grenade- Envenomed •Lockdown •Any grenade Honestly, this set up is focused on the use of grenades and smoke for area denial. With the use of the Fr0st, you can recharge your grenades and melee faster while Monte Carlo makes your smoke recharge absurdly fast. This isn't a team orientated set up as this can't really generate any orbs because there is no super. However, it is extremely fun in this weeks heroic as Small Arms and Void Burn is active :)

3 RepliesTitan build for near infinite sword ammo in any activity with lots of enemies Use an exotic sword for maximum effect and go exclusively for increased ammo. Memory of radegast for more sword ammo. Defender with armour of light and iron harvest just for more orbs of light. Ruin wings - even more heavy. I've been using this build a lot lately and it works amazingly well anywhere there are lots of enemies. Archons forge, court of oryx, prison/challenge of elders, a number of strikes, raids. I definitely recommend it to anyone that uses a Titan.

Edited by Wolfy: 10/21/2016 11:34:17 PMDefender with ACD/0 Feedback Fence -Magnetic Gernade -Increased Control -Armor of Light -War Machine -Titan Codex 1 -Relentless -Titan Codex 5 -Untouchable Ill Will Thesan FR4 Truth Jolder's artifact First I want to argue that fusion rifles are a fantastic weapon for Defenders. Its extremely easy to poke out of bubbles to zap someone as you can safely charge behind a wall you can walk through. Thats a huge plus for fusion usage. With armor of light you can also use it as a shotgun inside as rarely will you be one shotted in side by a shotgun unless its named Invective with those bursts it does. Most run extremely low rate of fire shotguns and cant follow up before you can get a charge/few punches off. Speaking of, no one is beating you in your bubble with this. Over shield on punch kill, ACD/0 for extra damage, and armor of light to keep you going. The overshield allows your Feedback Fence to proc more often too thanks to the extra health. Use your bubble aggressively by jumping over a group not watching and plant your fortress. 9 out of 10 will challenge and most believe they can take you without wasting a super. I run tier 2 int as bubbles recharge fast compared to other supers, tier 5 dis to make up for my lack of gernade concentration, and tier 4 str for disintegrate charges. Ill Will covers my long range which has rangefinder and luck in the chamber for the lucky two shot, and with the impact stay further away than the normal palendrome user and pick them off. War Machine also allows to make up for slow reload speed more often than not as Im usuallt playing close in a bubble. Thesan also has range finder and injection mold for 99 stability and increased handling. I like to run replenish as bubbles happen often and have a fail safe of 5 shots at all times in my bubble. Truth as I believe its the best heavy for PvP still. I guess its like tye best tank build I can come up with without resorting to the boring no backup plan route, which can be risky more often than not. In this shotgun meta, having a bubble that negates OHKOs from them and a fusion to stop them before they get too close has been working for me anyway. Its weakness is obvi the supers that smash your bubble down, however with smart play can usually abandon ship when I the obvious voidwalker/striker charging my way or hear the gunslinger nearby. Hammer bros can be tricky as 3 hammers pop your bubble and have to bait them to do so, running backward and away when he hurls that last one. Otherwise you can usually take him if he steps inside with a fusion charge/punch. Bladedancers, Nightstalkers, other Defenders (if they dont run this), and Sunsingers are pretty ok to play around though. Snipers are also a weakness but knowing not to challenge the hard scoper and let your allies bash their brains from the side is the smart way to go anyway. Dont park your bubble against and a wall and you back out when its about to be up too. Idk what you'd call this build. For the luls it'll just be "Hedgehog." Its bubble based defense with spiky arms that hurt to touch. Gotta go fast with skating on those codex choices too lmao

Great build for hunters Subclass: Gun slinger Perks: The two that give you buffs on head shots Exotic Gun: Boolean Gemini ( precision perk) Exotic armor: Radiant dance machine. You'll be moving so with and stable it makes its alot of fun in 6's and regular pve Side note* of course the control jump perk with the exotic bones of EAO works great too, buts for any hunter class thing.

Hunter: Yor Class: Nightstalker Main Hand: Thorn Secondary: Whatever you want. Heavy: Whatever you want Exotic Armor: Knucklehead Radar. Artifact: Memory of Felwinteri I feel this build is highly synergistic, as well as kinda nifty as fitting with the lore. With the burn of Thorn, one may run keen scout or disregard entirely with the addition of Knucklehead Radar. Felwinter provides a stat boost, but more importantly, it grants double poison wombo, with the burn from Thorn. This allows an individual to pick up Shadestep from the Hunter tree for some good synergy.
