Bethesda is really, really getting on my nerves. The fact that in 2015, they had the gall to release yet another broken, buggy, optimized game after 4 years of development baffles me. The fact that they raised the price of their season pass to $50 with nothing but a short-term idea of the DLC, and not even an idea of what to work on after that, is completely ridiculous. If any other developer/publisher tried pulling that, they'd get completely roasted by the gaming community! And you know what the worst part is? A veteran developer that has been making games since 1988 was outclassed in just about every way by a team that started making games in 2002.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHrskkHf958
Fun fact: Did you know that when CD Projekt Red first started working on The Witcher in 2002, they didn't even know how to make games? The most expertise they had was some experience in translation from English to Polish for a couple of games, and a few team members with some mobile game experience (This was 2002, remember, so mobile games back then weren't exactly an achievement).
Yet now with only 3 games under their belt, CD Projeckt Red has made a bigger, better looking world with more diverse side-quests, complex character relationships, a moral choice system with effects that can change the entire rest of the game, an insane attention to detail, a stable launch, and countless free DLCs as well as a full expansion.
Oh, and it gets better. While Bethesda had 4 years after the release of Skyrim to finish Fallout 4, it only took 3 years for CD to release The Witcher 3. The fact that Bethesda, a studio with 28 years of game development under their belt were so easily outdone by a studio with half that amount of experience is completely astonishing, and Bethesda should be ashamed that they were so easily outperformed.
Edit: Separated a paragraph to please a grammar nut.
EditEdit: And just like I thought, hardcore Bethesda fanboys have come in droves to fight tooth and nail. Apparently when I insult a company, I'm also insulting everybody's opinion because...reasons? I'm at least glad that some people are willing to actually talk about it without resorting to name calling and pulling out flat out lies in a desperate attempt to make it look like I'm biased (While in reality just looking more biased themselves).

While I like both games Bethesda really did drop the ball on this one. I just finished the Witcher 3 today (got it during the Christmas PS sale) and it is honestly one of the best games I've ever played. And while I really enjoyed Fallout 4 it was a buggy and laggy game at launch while the Witcher 3 had neither of these problems and it was incredibly polished. Meanwhile Fallout almost felt dated. And while I still plan on getting the DLC for Fallout, Bethesda really needs to get to work on a new engine or they are going to be left behind.

Edited by The Quillster: 3/7/2016 1:33:00 AMTo be fair, they're much more forthcoming about upcoming content than say bungie and Destiny. And if they felt that the season pass needed a price raise, then it's their decision as they figured that it was a better price for the content they produced. Heck, they even gave everyone ample time to buy at the original price.

14 RepliesI actually disliked the witcher. Not going to say it was a bad game, but for me it wasn't any fun. I'd also like to say, when they told everyone of the price increase they detailed what all of the Dlc was going to be, so you're just lying on that point. Not to mention, they gave everyone the chance to get the DLC at the original price. The only bug I experienced in F4 waas one that turned everyone's hair white. If they're making you that mad stop buying their games. No one is forcing you to.

1 ReplyI actually hate the witcher

I thought fallout was more fun than the witcher never played previous installments of either

3 RepliesI completely agree op. I have always been a big Bethesda fan and fallout 3 and skyrim were a couple of my favourite games. Witcher 3 came along and blew me away. It's the best game I have ever played. Everything about it is amazing, the world, the story, the characters, the lore. When I completed it I had this weird feeling for weeks like a sad feeling. No game has ever made me feel like that. I think I had actually became emotionally attached to the characters #deep When fallout 4 was announced I was one of the people on the hype train. The first next gen Bethesda game. Just like you I was extremely disappointed. In terms of size I platinumed fallout 4 in 94 hours where previous games have gave me Upto 300+ hours. I know Bethesda are not renowned for graphics but cmon !! They have had so long to make this game and the graphics are so bad. Fallout 3 and skyrim I feel I can go back and replay but fallout 4 I'm just not feeling it

Graphics don't make a game good. The quality of the story is what matters. You may have a decent graphics but a craptastic story (Destiny). Bethesda always releases games with amazing stories. The bugs and glitches are what make a bethesda game a bethesda game

There sure are a lot of corporate cocksuckers who will defend Bethesda to the death.

7 RepliesAre people still -blam!-ing bitching about games not having amazing graphics, so it automatically makes it a bad game. The gaming industry is really confusing...

4 RepliesFallout 4 was alright. It has replay value and interesting combat, etc. However, I find myself struggling to do anything after the main quest line. It's all too boring and there isn't as much content as a game such as Skyrim (You Fallout fanboys can't deny it. Skyrim is much bigger). I find that Bethesda used Preston Garvey as a way to provide quests constantly for the player. The only things left to do is retake settlements and get technical documents, blood samples, etc. Bare in mind, I haven't reached level 40 yet. Apparently BoS is the best faction to choose, which I did. I'm not going to do all of them if they are going to bore me. Fallout 4 just lacks activities and things to do after the main quest line and all the unique side quests are out of the way.

1 ReplyHow come Bethesda can get away with making bad RPGs for the past couple games they released. They're all dumbed down linear story, dungeons, quests with absolutely no choices/consequences in game and character development. Fallout 4 gets praised yet it's barely an RPG it's a good action game but a terribly made RPG. Small unfinished rant ahead. A simple perk tree that basically says "oh you do more damage with this type of weapon", "oh next rank you can pick harder doors" this design is boring. They could've kept the skill system and made unique perks instead. Then your character has this backstory which makes it really difficult to be who you want to be, not to mention your character is voice acted. Mostly every named character you meet is essential making the game more hand holding... I can rant on how Bethesda is making terrible RPGs trying to appeal to the masses. It's sad how people can accept them when their making games like any other AAA gaming company as they only care about money. They need to give Obsidian the green light for their Fallout game at least they can do it right.

DOOM's releasing in May dude. If Bethesda fails at that (which I honestly don't see how it's possible, I mean it's DOOM lol you can't go wrong with that), then I would lose all hope in them.
-
I enjoyed fallout 4 but you're spot -blam!-ing on tho. Besthesda fans give them waaaay to many free passes. I cant count how many times i was launched into the air, fell throught the map, spontaneously combasted and had my game crash. Bethesda needs to get their shit together.

4 RepliesOr they should be proud

fallout 3 and new vegas were a hundred times better IMO. where the hell is the karma/fame/infamy feature? i was extremely disappointed with Fo4. if TES6 is as bad then bethesda will have just died in my eyes.

The game was fun but the plot was definitely bad overall. Really doesn't make me want to replay just to choose different factions. I also get annoyed sometimes at missed opportunities throughout the game like in settlement building, weapon/armor modding and customization. Even though it seems a pretty shady marketing tactic, I'm still glad they allowed a bit of time to purchase the season pass for 30 because I probably wouldn't have paid 50 for it. It's a good game but it has a lot of flaws.

4 RepliesEdited by FrostD: 3/3/2016 11:45:36 PMThis is going to sound condescending but that's not my intention. What exactly is your point? That CDPR did a gud job? Cuz we all knew that already. I only played Witcher 3 for a couple of hours and it didn't hook me. But the stellar reviews and positive gamer feedback stand as proof that it was a well made game. It also raked in a boatload of cash so if you're concerned CDPR didn't make enough of a profit to finance future titles you can rest easy, they did. Is it that FO4 or other titles are not as gud? That would be a matter of opinion. Like I said, Witcher 3 didn't hook me. On the other hand I've been playing FO4 since it's release. Recently going back to remake my "engineer" character in preparation for The Machinist DLC. What does Bethesda have to be ashamed of again exactly? Making titles that millions of gamers love pouring hundreds of hours into? Are they flawed? Sure. Do they have glitches? They Sure do. But people still love playing them. That should speak volumes to the quality of the rest of the game shouldn't it? I mean if a game is so good that people love playing it despite the presence of flaws then that really says something doesn't it? Some people are going to start throwing around words like Fanboy and sheep. But if people really didn't enjoy playing these titles would they really have sold as well as they have? Bethesda must be doing something right. At the very least they are doing right in the eyes of the millions of gamers who enjoy playing thier games. So no, as far as I'm concerned, and to the best of my knowledge, Bethesda has nothing to be ashamed of.

I really don't know what this post is for, you start off angry at Bethesda for raising the price of their season pass (Mind you they gave everyone a month long warning to either buy it for less before they raised to price or don't) then you go on giving me facts for the Witcher producers, I really don't know what your arguing for.
-
Not played any of the fallout games but witcher 3 has its share of bugs! Most annoying one is the inability to start a new game+ because the game is incomplete even when it is! I did 2 playthroughs & my character was lvl68 but wouldn't let me start a 3rd run to get to 70 :(
-
I feel like people over hype Bethesda games. All of them have been meh IMO. Fallout 4 was the only one that somewhat interests me. But even that gets boring.
