Dear Bungie, First of all I'd like to thank you in advance for taking a moment to read this. I appreciate the chance to speak to you directly about my concerns and wishes. It comes to my concern that Exotic Shards are necessary to Infuse Exotic gear and repurchase discovered Exotic Items from the blueprint kiosk. It also comes to my attention that Infusion does not raise Light by a perfect 1:1 ratio. As such, for an Exotic bought from Xur at 280 Light, it may take 2-3 Infusions to raise this value higher than 310 Light. This is all to say that Exotic Shards are needed in bulk for players to take maximum advantage of their favorite Exotic gear. Bungie has done a fantastic job thus far of diversifying the Exotic weaponry used by the players. This, however, also adds the downside that more shards are needed since there is pressure to maximize the power of more pieces of gear. All in all, we need more shards! "You make a fine point, sir. What do you propose we do about it though?" Good question. I wouldn't propose the problem without an idea for a solution. So far, from Xur, players can purchase 5 Three of Coins for 7 Strange Coins. My current understanding is that using a Three of Coins applies Exotic Particles, which grants a 1/5 chance of receiving an Exotic Engram. This would mean that by spending 7 Strange Coins, you were projected to receive on average 1 Exotic Engram drop. So then, why not offer Exotic Shards from Xur for the same cost of 7 Strange Coins? Short, quick, easy, and to the point. Players could save up their weekly coins and spend them on either the gear for the week or on shards to better their existing gear. Xur is the go-to source of Exotic weaponry and armor, so why not further that notion by making him the go-to source of upgrading those same items? This would also facilitate the purchasing of Glass Needles for players wishing to reroll their exotics, looking for the perfect spread of perks. There's plenty more reasons I could think of to want this to happen, but ultimately you all are the experts and this is a wish I bid to you. Thank you again for reading. Sincerely, Shade_Seraphim
